  • A fine day in the Arrochar Alps to climb a Corbett instead of a Munro for a change. The Corbett in Question is Ben Donich. A fine mountain which boasts a fairly decent scrambly section a few hundred metres before the summit. This section also has some fairly impressive crevices which vary in depth and size.
At 846 metres Ben Donich, is the highest mountain on the Ardgoil peninsula. It is a fairly extensive mountain, essentially a square pyramid with its summit at the centre of four ridges. Ben Donich can be accessed by any of its four ridges, but is almost entirely surrounded by forestry plantations in its lower slopes which makes access difficult. To the north-west a ridge runs down to Gleann Mòr, whilst a further ridge kicks off to the south of the summit, dropping down into the wooded glen containing the Donich Water river. By far the most frequented ridge is the south-east ridge which connects Ben Donich to The Brack via Bealach Dubh-lic at 384 metres where a footpath crosses over the ridge from Glen Croe to Lochgoilhead. A further insignificant ridge leads off the summit ridge to the north-east overlooking Glen Croe and the "Rest and be Thankful" summit on the A83. The slopes are moderate, and terrain is mainly grass with some rocky outcrops on steeper slopes.

I was just watching your assent here and chuckled to myself, b'coz it's the same spot in the crevice where I took shelter to have my lunch on 2 different occasions, first was in driving snow with low visibility and the second was in ridiculous gale force winds 😫. You got a nice day mate, glad I got to see more this time 😁. Great video bud. Darren.

      Hi Darren,
It was my neighbour who recommended this cracking mountain as it’s one of his favourites in the Arrochar Alps. What’s the chances about the lunch spot? Lol.
      Best Regards,
      Douglas. 👍🏼⛰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thanks Paul, I really appreciate you taking the time to write those nice encouraging comments. I hope you do start clogging your trips, they are a great way to share obviously how beautiful scotland is, but you’ll have a great collection of adventures to look back on one day! 😁🙌🏼⛰

Cool, great views all the way up.
I'll second the Suilven experience, magical mountain. We hiked it a few months ago also. Aiming to. Return next year again. Cheers, Scott

Cheers my friend @Bored Camperz. Planning to go back to lochinver next year but also looking at the great Glen way. Lochinver could swing it alone for the lochinver Larder pie shop never mind Suilven! Lol 😉🙌🏼⛰

Thanks Steve, I know you love this particular area of Scotland. The Arrochar Alps are simply stunning with their jagged edged mountains. 😁🙌🏼⛰
