    Personal testimony....
I purchased this amp, a Alpine type R 10d4 and a Alpine head unit back in 2005 for a work radio. This amp at volume 24 (max without distortion on old Alpine headunits) pushed the sub for 12+ hrs a day for 4 years straight. After that I put the amp into a work truck I had pushing a Kicker 10 shallow mount for 3 years. The amp was removed when I traded in the truck and sat in storage for about 5 years.
In 2017 I installed the amp and the same old Alpine R 10 into a Jeep Cherokee that my girlfriend had. She totaled it in December 2019 and once again the amp was put into storage.
About a month ago I was rear ended and the repair shop asked me to remove the sub and amps from the car to make it easier for them. I got my vehicle back the other day and wanted to make a few changes. Just for fun I dug out my old amp and wired it up and it still works like the day I bought it. I tested the power output with a DMM on a 40hz tone and it's still putting out close to 500w @ 2 ohms.
It's a little too week for 2 type r 12s I currently have (running on a Alpine PDX-M12) so it's back in the garage but I plan on building a new radio soon. And I am definitely going to use this amp. I'll probably use the old type R 10 I bought along with it 16 years ago. The amp I have probably has 10-12k hrs on it and it still preforms as it should. Alpine is a little more expensive then most others but you get what you pay for.
Alpine earned my business for life and it all started with this amp.

By the time you get some box rise, and as long as you don't overgain the amp you would probably be able to get away with a 1ohm load. Take a lesson from the Taramp a few weeks ago and underfuse it until you find the sweetspot!

I'm a professional installer, and I've seen a fair number of these amps blown up... Always accompanied with a blown sub. The really fun part is I've now seen 3 of these blown up in a way I've never seen another amp blow up... The amp powers on, no protect light, but it has 12v DC on the speaker terminals!!! I watched another tech swap out a blown sub, and immediately blow the new one because of this! He hooked it up, turned on the key to test it, heard a "thwip" sound, ignored it (derp), tried to play music and had no bass, then smelled that lovely tell-tale smell coming from the brand new JL W3 he just installed. *Sigh*

@MSH68 “easy on the gain setting”??? Let me guess... you also think the gain knob is a power/volume control? There is only one setting, THE CORRECT SETTING!!! Match the amp to the H/U’s max output before clipping with either a DD-1 or O scope. Save me the “I’ve tuned by ear for 30 years blah blah” well, you’ve been doing it wrong for however many years. Ah well, some just won’t listen.
I only play with my own stuff non professionally and I’ve got an o scope and DD-1. Sad part is there’s 4 sound shops in my hometown doing installations and not one have either tools for correctly setting gains. I’ve even offered to do a few for them just so they could see and maybe get one for their shop. They were not at all interested??!? I was glad to learn I had been doing it wrong and eager to get the proper tools. Guess some have a problem with admitting they don’t know everything

That little Hi-Q has put in some work over the years buddy! This Alpine along with the Rockford that you just tested both did really really well on the dyno. It's so hard to find a good amp nowadays that's in that price range that will actually push some wattage. I have a Soundstream Rubicon Nano RN1.5000D in my Mk4 VW Golf hatch and it's pushing two Sundown Audio SA12D2s and they SLAM in that hatchback. Rattles the vent in my dash...lol I think I paid close to $200 for that amp and obviously the Sundowns are only rated at 500W per speaker, so the amp's gain is only about half way up. The amp is 1 ohm stable and that's how I have the subs wired with 8 gauge OFC speaker wire, 2 gauge OFC power and ground, and a 200A circuit breaker.
