I actually still prefer passive subwoofers. I just think they sound better when you have a quality amplifier, that the amp that is included with powered subwoofers. JBL in my case. Sounds pretty good too.

I want to use the JP84 and a pair of D4S 65 v2 to use in a chuchero box build. I have both of these in my cart and I'm trying to determine which 3" tweeters to grab. I think this chuchero build is gonna rock with my dual 510e DD subs/1100d amp @ 1ohm.

was this channel called big d whiz before? just picked up a sfb-1000d for $90. gonna use it on a sundown sd-3 12" d2 that has sd-4 soft parts on it in a small sealed enclosure for a touch of "low end" in my quad cab ram. not sure if i should wire the sub to 1 ohm or 4 ohms. the sd3 is rated for 500w while the sd4 soft parts are rated for 600w. i know sundown always underrates their subs and amps though.

How far PPI has fallen. Those were monster amps in the 90's when they were made in the USA.

An amplifier of this caliber, back in the late 80’s, would have been totally unaffordable!!! Probably $5,000 at least!!! That was the “hey-day” of car stereo, with brands like Rockford Fosgate, Orion (red), Alpine, PPI, Kicker, a/d/s, US Amps and JL Audio who ruled the car audio scene. Ahh, the memories…

I’ve been torn between the smart line and sundown’s sia line. If Taramps would offer a nicer bass remote with built in clip light as an option I would be all over it. Sundown costs $680 for the sia5000 and Taramps smart5 is $480 BUT sundown has a nice, metal bass remote with buttery smooth potentiometer and clip light and a 2 year warranty. The taramps offers a cheap dinky looking knob with a light for $50 and their warranty is only 1 yr and their fans are loud af…as much as I want to try the taramps I just can’t do it

Speakers are like underwear, some like briefs, others boxers and some boxer/ briefs, it's a PERSONAL thing and what sounds good to you, might not be the SAME to me! Listening is a LEARNED art, which most don't KNOW! I've found over the years, that the SIMPLEST systems sound the BEST! 👌

The internal heatsink is isolated by still standing air inside the enclosure. Because of this it can not deliver high volumes over an extended period of time. Since theres no vent holes close by either modding this thing with a fan wont help much.

Update: I just added a second one, mono config and both Sparkos chipped. The results are simply amazing... more power yes, but increased dynamics throughout the volume range and the sound-stage and mid-bass are really fantastic. How many watts total...? Mucho. No, you're not gonna host a rave but in a decent sized room you'll be jamming. Full disclosure: PCM input from computer @384, (Fosi SK02) speakers DALI Zensor 3s. Wow. Cheers all and thanks.
