Audio control is by far my favorite brand. It could be because I’m biased as their facility is about an hour from my house but I choose to believe it’s because they are arguably the highest quality brand in the game and have been for decades
You get a high quality product for what you pay. There a company that's not out there to rip you off and want to give you a quality product for the dollar. I also feel like they will be around for a long time
They finally switched the inserts to Allen’s key! This amp is 😍😍
My LC6.1200 and Epicenter 1200 have semi stripped Phillips inserts. I hope these Allen heads are a direct drop in.
you mean on fire with the junk caps and no fan to control the heat !

@@wal - Awesome video as always and really appreciate all the info you give us !!!! Still would like the info on your sub box tho !!!
Lets raise some money to buy BigD some pin connectors or banana plugs so he doesnt have to keep twisting up the ends of his speaker cable! Poor Guy...
@@ronskopitz2360 yes furrules. However; that and the rest take it out of what most people too.
Seems like a super legit one box solution. This video made me think about buying one, then I remembered I haven't had a bon stock car stereo since 95
Hey Big D! Great videos as always! One thing of note about these LC series amplifiers is that they are designed by Robert Zeff and Nikola Engineering! I know you know that name! These are very similar to the Arc X2 series amplifiers. I actually have the LC1200.6 running a 3way fully active front stage and an oldschool Rockford bd1000 on my sub in my car. I can tell you these are extremely clean sounding amps! Thanks again for all you're doing for the car audio community!✌
Sounded super clean. They definitely make good amps if you can afford it. Wish I would of known they were in my backyard back in high school and college days.
I honestly believe that Audio Control makes the best amps, and over engineers their product line for noobs like me. I have an amazing 4 channel. American 🇺🇸 company that produces a quality electronic product in America. Seldom seen!
Thanks Williston, and thank Audio Control.
I've always been a RF fan boy but man Audio Control is going to be seeing some of my hard earned money! Great vid D. AC may not send you another amp after watching the after credits 😂😂😂
Nice video man.that is one sweet amp, nice power ad tuning options
Bravo excellent good video content love watching all of your CZcams videos keep up the good work making awesome CZcams videos
Reminds me of my fosgate 600a5 . The fosgate has hp/LP bass boost on all channels so it can be used just for subs. All in one solutions is nice . It's the only 5 channel I have
I like the looks of all Audio Control items. Beauty through purposeful design.
Holy hell...that ones a beast. Great job audio control.
This is an excellent lil 5 channel amp!
Audio Control always seems to make solid gear. Looking at possibly getting a DQ-61 or similar for adding my own amps and speakers to a factory system.
Good headroom for transient spikes I wouldent expect any less from audio control. Seems to be the only company that stayed true to themselfs
That's a good design. Tightly regulated and properly rated. There's a reason why they don't guarantee 1 ohm capability. The amp's power supply and output transistors need to have adequate capacity for the unexpected (i.e. reactive loads) so they don't let out the magic smoke. Relying on so called protection circuits isn't the answer as well. Yes there needs to be protection against catastrophic failure as well as fusing but these are safety measures and only spring into action when needed!
Notice too, a good amp barely if at all shows a peep out of the red distortion LED until the amp reaches its limit and the waveform is no longer a nice round sine wave. Lesser designs splatter and do all sorts of nasty stuff while still racking up watts. Which one would you rather listen to? ;-)
Not to mention in many installs where the amp is connected directly the driver voice coil (active x-over) there is no protection whatsoever for the driver. Woofers and mid basses are acceptably tolerant but tweeters? Forget about it!
I love audio control's stuff, I wish their home audio stuff was more affordable, it's outrageously expensive.
Great review. Thx Big D
Thanks for 8ohm test! :D
Thats awesome 👌. Thanks for the vid!!!
It appears as though this is a much better value then something comparable from JL that retails over $1,200. Awesome video, great info!
JL Audio is pretty much decayed due to the fact of their overpriced big-headed concept there's still a few people running their subwoofers but that's about it.. .
I got my very first EpiCenter in the late 80's when I was just old enough to get my first car. Oh the memories!!
Yessir! Got mine used in 92. That’s the only reason I’m even aware of Audio Control.
I actually grew up a stones throw from their HQ/factory in Kent Wash. (I'm from Puyallup close to there) But they were a pretty small outfit back then.
Nice work man
Thanks BigD.
Very nice post.Thumbs up 👍👍👍
Gotta love W.A.L.....Thx 4 another great vid Big D!😀
Man thats a nice one amp for all option! Pricey, but you do get what you pay for, and Audio Control is quality stuff.
Good job nice vid Big D!
Thanks for your work ! I want to see a amp dyno of the entry level 5 channel Rockford Prime to see who win the battle with the kenwood and the Pioneer.
I have the lc 6 1200 , such clean amplifier.. all of the included features make it worth the money. The built in clipping lights are soo helpful setting it up without owning an RTA or other equipment.. running 4 6x9 Pioneer D Series in the doors,, and bridged 5&6 to a 12 inch Kicker CompRT .. sounds awesome.. looking to move the sub to a mono block next, and hook up the dash speakers. saving up the money 💰 the built in channel summing is also awesome. I recommend Audio Control to anyone who can afford it..
I'm having a similar system installed with this same amp. Have the same subwoofer. What ga power wire are you running it with? Will it be fine with 4 ga ofc power wire?
@Chandy the wire guage needed is based on the max amperage that will be required. The LC61200 is fused at 120amps, so as long as your cable run is less than 13ish feet, you should be fine. I ran 4 guage originally, but when I reinstalled in my next truck, I used 1/0 since I plan to run a dedicated monoblock from the same power source. Make sure to have a good fuse close to your battery or alternator wherever you source your power from.
In regards to tuning if you're interested.. kicker provides audio test tones you can download, like 40hz, sweeps, pink noise...etc stick with the -5dB versions unless you know or want to know what all that means, Google will help!
You first need to find where your head unit clips at ...
Disconnect your speakers from the amp make sure the bass knob is turned all the way up for all of this... dont want to blow a speaker while tuning like I did 😶
Play the associated audio track (use headphone jack, not Bluetooth its a cleaner signal) keep turning up the volume on your head unit and look for the MILC light to start flickering, not on solid. This is the maximum you should ever turn your head unit up to. Some high quality headunits wont clip, so you may never see the MILC light come on..
Once that is figured out, play the track again and turn up levels/gains until the Maximized lights on the amp channels start to flicker but are not on solid. In my case I played the pink noise for my door speaker channels ( 1, 2, 3 and 4) and the 40hz for the bridged sub channels( 5 and 6).
That should give you a safe tune where you won't blow anything up.. from there I would play the typical kind of music you listen to (with speakers connected) and do some fine adjusting.
Main thing is you don't want the MILC or Maximized lights on solid, it's OK if they blink and maybe go solid for a half a second or something.
Don't be afraid to call Audio Control tech support if you have questions, they have always been super helpful and spend the time with you answering whatever questions they can.
There are some other more technical ways to tune using an oscilloscope or an actual RTA but that depends on how much money you have to spend tuning..
Good luck, you will be very happy, I have had my LC61200 for going on 8 years and have had no problems. High quality stuff!
@djmjr4827 Thanks for your advice! I have a 2019 Toyota Tundra. Installing the infinity kappa components with a 2" midrange makes it a 3 way in the front and coaxial in the rear. Will it be good to use factory speaker wire? Or should I run 16 ga speaker wire to the doors?
On similar power Do you think 2 of those HQ-8s would be comparable to like one typical 1000w level 12 say SA or XFL
Hey Big D, are you using a different mic for the "Do it bump doe" portion? Wasn't hearing the bumps and drops as well as I usually do. Nice to see Audio Control still making top tier gear 25 years after I got out of the hobby 👍🤘
That is an impressive piece of equipment
Great vid once again, but I would’ve loved to see it lit by that factory led strip.
Very informative video as always! I would like to see some German amps like Helix. Helix M series would be great! :)
Banging single amp solution! Looks small enough to fit anywhere 😁
Cool amp!!
I've never owned any Audio Control car audio amps or crossovers.
But I did however purchase one of their Home Theater equalizers and a 1/3 octive spectrum analyzer.
Considering the RCA's are literally BOLTED to the front panel, i would consider them PANEL MOUNT, although they are slightly different designs, that keeps the force off the circuit board quite well. Not a negative, just a different design
I was going to say that and tiffany style is great for 2 or 1 channel amps. The nuts take up space and this is a space saving design.
Awesome! I need one of those!
What are tiffany / panel mount RCA's? And why do you like them so much?
I need to hear one of these. It is very reminiscent of my ads p650.2.
Where are amplification mosfet inside ??? 5 channel amp has at least 10 mosfet or(12 in subwoofer bridge mode). Is it made by class d IC such as TPA or TAS?? please reply. Thank you.
We need a barevids full analysis!
Very nice I just bought a aidiocontrol dm-608. I'm pretty sure these are usa made?
Would you do a test on this amp using music track like you did with hifonics? Curious on dynamic numbers with music.
In your opinion do you think this will play 4 DD 506D2 subwoofers well? Thanks for your feedback...Awesome videos btw!!
Nice amp big D. I always wondered on those type of amps can you have 4x100 @4 ohms and 1x500@ 1ohm?
AudioControl ftw!
I might have missed it somewhere before but how do you determine the efficiency rating.
Awesome piece of equipment big D. The efficiency is incredible. Considering the price point and the features this amp is definitely designed exclusively for folks with brand new or leased vehicles that have complex factory systems that are difficult to upgrade. I can't think of a reason to use this with an aftermarket head unit since most decent ones all have plenty of EQ & crossovers built in
Good video. I like audio controls stuff but man those speaker connectors with the tiny screws have always driven me nuts.
Audio Control is the best company ever!! many years ago i had a 4ch eq go bad on me and they fixed for me for free!!
Great video! I'm having this amp installed soon. Will this amp run ok with 4 ga ofc power wire?
Badass amp 100%
I'm having a hard time believing this is only a 12awg (2mm²) cable at 4:40. I agree that they should have shosen the outher connections for bridged mode. Eighter way in my opinion the cable size you choose should not expose the wiring so much when correctly connected. Thanks for a great video once again.
One word on the speaker connections, ferrules. Only way to safely input or output on those tiny connectors. My LC1.800 is the same way.👍🏼
100% . I do see his point for sure tho. Could have taken that extra step .
even with ferrules 1 strand of wire and toast its in a car so you get vibration . for $800 your better off with 4 channel and sub amp . no fans ,no remote ,Yuscon Caps= pass
Your meant to use wire ends on the speaker outputs. thanks for sharing
I used to love AudioControl sounded great till it didn't in November just before the start of covid19 after saving up 2 years at a shop near me they ordered and installed for me a dm-810 dsp , two D-4.800's and lc-1.1500 sub amp 2 sets front Alpine x series 6.5 Component Set rear ALPINE X Series 6x9 Component set and 4 JL AUDIO 10TW3 shallow mounts built in to a custom console that went from front to back now the bad the AudioControl dm-810 started interment shut downs ins inside of 3.5 month by 4.5 it was dead took it back to the installer and AudioControl tells installer it was not bought through one of there dealers more less piss up a rope and next day covid shut down happens and till its over the installer closes shop for good I mean come on AudioControl its the 2020's everything is bought online now the warranty shouldn't matter where its bought from these days if from the USA even after I called my self they never even called me back I boycotted AudioControl at that point its a shame there stuff sounds great but the $800 hit hurt with the way money was then ending up out of work for 4.5 months.. sorry for the rant.. and people buy AudioControl be careful where you buy there there stuff from and make sure its a dealer or they will weasel there way out of there warranty..
You Da man big D. and thanks for keeping it real.
Excellent video as always! I'm really curious why the dynamic is so intense on other well known high end brands ex, my beloved rockford t1500 is bonkers dynamically but this barely did its un-certified on the dynamic test. Im confused and hoping you can shed some light on my curiosity big D? Overall I'd still pick it up very nice aml in a small package. With 1/0 gauge baby. Again thanks for posting. Bet it sounded good n thanks for fighting to get the amp open.
Very nice potentiometers BTW, love seeing high end goodies for our $
I'll try to keep it simple. Its the amount of capacitors in the power supply section for the most part. When an amplifier has a strong power supply with lots of capacitance, the amplifier can send out short bursts of power much higher than the rms rating of the amp. Take a power supply built for a 7.5k and put it on an amp meant to output 5k, and you wind up with a 6k rms amp that does 8k dynamically.
I'm a bit new to multi channel amps. Will this amp run 4 ohms on the 4 channel side and 2 ohms on the subwoofer at the same time?
I've been looking for an Amp so Really appreciate seeing this information, I would be installing in a pickup and wandered If your tests checks for noise filtering, don't want any alternator noise, lol ?
next 5 channel i get is def one of these amps!
Beautiful clean looking amp . Great choice for add on stock radio. Excellent choice for SQ quality. Love audiocontrol products.
Friend I bought the MTX TNE212DV which amplifier do you recommend to move them well
JL 900/5 vs this? or another? Looking to power a 350Z convertible. Probably a 10W6 for the sub.
On the top cover removal: You don't need to take the back screws out, they are only sort of "hooks" under the lip in the back.
The front screws don't need to be fully removed. You unscrew them about halfway and the you lift up the front and slide the cover back to release the "hook" screws in the back.
This info is in the owner's manual as well. All of the new Audiocontrol LC and DM amps have the same top cover removal.
It's kinda weird. I wish they would have just make actual hooks instead of using screws that way.
So, speaking of 5 channel amps, I'd love to see what the Skar 5 channel SK-M9005D amp can do. I bought it to control my mids, highs, and my sub as well, but my touchscreen stereo doesn't have a line amp output coupled with the speaker outputs, and the amp will not run normal line out speaker along with the RCA outputs, so it won't control my mids, highs, along with my single 8" sub in my Acura TL unless I run it all through line out speaker controls, or line out RCAs.
Hey big d. Would you ever do a dyno on a soundqubed amp?
Hell ya love this stuff! think im gunna have to copy your style and start buying and testing new budget subs instead of amps lol
If you really plan on doing this get a Shure Beta 52a mic or similar so you don't have a distorted recording.
@@Nickword1 check out Parker Dacchille, he does exactly that starting with Kicker from Comp to Q to L7

8ohm test of sub channel would be good to know for pa driver use ;). For outdoor events using pa subs/bass bins.
Put some Pinkk floyd Welcome to the machine. It tortures many speakers and amplifiers, I know they would probably demonitise your video for doing it but what a good test. Never mind this electronic auto tune crap
How many watts difference between the channels before you could hear a difference?
Nice equiptment
Hi, do you think you can do a review of Alpine R-A90S, thank you
Looks like it was designed to be wired using wire ferrules. In a standard install using ferrules, I doubt there would be any issues with the terminals.
Looks 1ohm stable to me.. very nice versatile looking amp..
I like the fact they don't go below 2ohm stability. Cerwin Vega stroker amps do that also. Efficiency and sq.
yeah would like to see some of the new Cerwin vega Stroker and Stroker pro amps on the dyno, particularly the multichannel ones. i guess they will do very well on the tests.
Wow this amp is amazing, especially for that size, but how hot would it getif using at 80-90% and how long would it play for?
It looks to be a class D amplifier. Assuming that it is, you’ll likely turn the volume down from ear fatigue well before it goes into thermal shutdown unless you insulate it with a pile of blankets or something.
Williston Audio, when will you get the amp dyno on the McIntosh amp, or it's not finished getting fixed?

What 5 channel amp did you like more the JL Audio 900/5HD or the Audio Control LC5.1300? Thanks your insight is appreciated.
The JL is more compact, but the AC is more powerful. If you have the room I’d go AC
Damn would love to put this on my bagger

Curious what your thoughts are when comparing this amplifier to the T1000X5ad?
Btw... great videos. I’ve recently got back into Car audio and had a few old Rockford Amps refreshed through some of the original engineers after finding your channel. Thxs for bringing back fond memories.
This is the exact comparison I was wondering about. I'm been trying to decide between these 2 amps. Keep going back and forth between the 2. Did you ever choose one over the other?
@@caraudiocentral I was hoping to get some feedback on this channel but no response as you can see.
I’m still debating between the two. I’ve never used AC amplifiers before but still have some of their preamp
Stuff from 20 years ago that still sound awesome.
Did you decide yet? If so, would you let me know which way you went and why..? Thanks.
@@kevineth100 I haven't decided 100% yet, but leaning more toward the Audio Control. I think mostly just because I want to try something new. But still wish someone would do a comparison between these 2 amps. Would like to see which one performs better.
Great video Big D. have you done a video on Kenwood Excelon XR 901-5 amp.
I've got the 901-5 and love it! He did a test of the 801-5 a while back, but I don't think he's done the 901-5.
When I saw the price I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't looking at an old school audio catalog haha. I guess we've just been spoiled with amps at bargain prices for so long.
I was worried the subwoofer channel's listed output would be on the low side for my system. This should be plenty for my pair of JL 12TW#-D8s.
Fun fact: 5 year warranty.
Genuine question: are there any other companies in the car audio space with a comparable warranty period?
Five years from the date of purchase, provided it is installed by an authorized AudioControl dealer
Sony's new GS series subs and XM-GS amps (watch out JL) are 3 years as long as it's installed by an authorized dealer.
@@bryantopp174 that is not true. Warranty is still honored if purchased directly from any authorized online dealer. Such as crutchfield or abt
