  • This is a quick overview of a Harbor Freight scroll saw that I just bought and how I built a simple riser stand with blade and accessory storage to get it to a comfortable height for use.

Very nice video! That sliding organizer for saw blades is a keeper of an idea. Just as an aside, my wife took a class for science teachers and was given a huge package of plastic soda bottle blanks. They look just like test tubes but they have the soda bottle screw-on tops. They are basically indestructible. I found them online by searching for "soda bottle test tubes". They are a lot cheaper than I expected. Thanks for sharing your creativity and expertise!

Well done video. Good sound & picture in focus along with great suggestions on shop ideas for less money. Most of us don't have a CNC machine ( wish I had one ) any suggestions on cutting the drawer opening without one. I assume maybe with a router/trimmer or drill and chisel. Great idea on storing saw blades, I may try to modify my roll around work bench to allow similar slide in trays. Kreg tool is something I use also. Any chance you could furnish some dimensions of the project. I have a WEN 16" scroll saw and I think I might try to do a similar stand. Keep up the good work! How expensive is it to get into CNC?

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  Před 6 lety

Without the cnc I would just make a template of one slot and use my plunge router with a guide bushing. Then index it for each pocket and make a second template for the bigger pocket. I dont give dimensions because each saw is different and the test tube size will change according to blade lenght, tools, and tube manufacturer differences. It should be easy to position everything you will store on a piece of cardboard and make some cutouts with an exacto knife to get the best configuration for you. The height will also vary according to your bench height. Just sharing ideas that others may be able to adapt to their machines. I built my cnc router from scrap so it did not cost much. To buy one with software the price is very dependent on size and accuracy. A higher end hoby 2' × 4' Laguna is about 6.5 k and there are others that cost less. Thanks for watching.

Great job! To all the boneheads making negative reply to the use of a cnc router...... If you are complaining why not complain about all the tools used and shame him for not building it by the fire in the cave or under the bridge using only a rock and animal bones for chisels like you all seem to be? So he has better tools than you, so what, get over it.

Thanks. I am used to comments from people that don't have the same tools that I use in my videos and see no reason they couldn't make this with a router and templates. Also many say they cannot start with rough cut wood and surface it. I just tell them to buy s4s lumber. Hopefully they will just get some ideas from the video they can adapt to their tools and skills. From the comments I have seen there are 2 types of viewers. Those that want to learn something and those that want to complain. The ones that want to learn usually subscribe. Thanks for watching.

You have issues not accepting the outcome and ideas. Step into the future. I have been woodworking for years and there is no difference in the final outcome, just a lot quicker. Most of my videos contain cnc routing, plasma cutting, and printing so you may want to find a different channel without cnc machinery to watch.

You are an idiot and stop spreading hate. The base was of his artistic thought right? He built and assembled it by hand right? What difference does it make that he used a CNC router? You and all the other haters are just jelous that this " Artist" has better tools than you! I watched the video and he took WOOD and WORKED it with the tools and skills he has which in conjunction equals WOODWORKER.

Addie Hinz, so angry and jealous.
Do you use a washing machine and have ever said "I'm doing laundry?" Seriously. Time to get over yourself.

Xxstarted watching your video. Gave it up when you used a computer operated CNC machine. If I want to watch computer manufacturing I'll watch an episode of "How it's Made."

You can also just use a hand router and template or just cut it with a scroll saw and glue on a bottom if you do not have a cnc router. I am just sharing the idea and it can be adapted to the tools you have. Many of my videos have home built cnc equipment in them so my channel may not be for you.

I prefer to do things without a cnc but I dont see your issue. What about it bothers you? I mean you got to understand this is not 1970 home cnc is just another tool. It is easy to see that you can make the parts without a cnc but times have changed and new tech makes possibilties endless. If this was 75 years ago and you was making things with hand tools and someone broke out a router would you not watch or use that either? Power tools make the job faster than hand tools and the same goes for cnc. at somepoint you have to get out of the bubble and come into the real world where computer controled tools exist. If you don't know much of them most the time if just making one part the drawings and tool path set up takes longer than just doing by hand. I say this because it takes a tallent to make a part on a cnc its not like you snap your fingers and it made but thats what you see because you don't know better. If you don't like what you see change the station but don't be a dick and make comments just because you don't want to keep up with the times. I think he is very talented and mad a wonderful stand that worth more than the tool. Grow up and stop bitching about nothing as nobody wants to hear it. You probably don't have the tools or skills to make a flat board square your just another troll!

I started reading your comment and gave up on it when I realized you were on your way to sounding ignorant and officious.

When using a cnc machine the term "I Built" does NOT apply. Sorry

It does when you built the cnc machinery. It all can be built using a router and template if you don't have a cnc router.

Great if you have a CNC. Not a very good video for the average..

You don't need cnc if you know how to use a router with templates. Idid stuff like this for years without one . It's quicker without cnc if you figure in the drawing and programming time. Thanks for watching.

It got the saw up to a comfortable work height and keeps it all together. It is fun to share ideas with others. Thanks for watching.
