You seen Green Book? Lennox could have pulled off the Don Shirley role! I want to see Lennox vs Klitschko at chess, I always thought Vlad had the demeanor of an Eastern European grandmaster!
@Marlisha Monias, I agree. Not to mention the fact that Joe Rogan has some of the most vicious kicks on the planet. Seriously. If you've never seen his insane kicks, look them up here on CZcams. It'll blow your mind.
@@vCLOWNSHOESv Nobody said it was his fault, idiot. Learn how to read! But it IS his fault if he's trying to say that Tyson WAS in his prime when they fought. And he did say that.

I mean I dont think he said how long he was playing, I might be wrong but I digress. Say hes only been playing for a couple months. It could be a very quick progression, and I don't think he was referring to grandmaster, it's around 1200-1400 that separates the part time players from the people who play as an obsession.
@@scellie_6874 fuuuck no it doesn't. Someone who is a 1200 could just as easily be playing the same amount of chess as someone at any other elo. I get what you're saying though but you simply cannot put it as someone who is a lower elo plays less chess than a higher rated elo player.

My brother and i grew up playing pool on a table with 4” pockets, then we’d hit the pubs when we were of age, and play all night. 5” pockets were so easy, and we could keep very accurate even after a few beers, good times.
Joe's description about chess being all consuming is correct. I got heavily involved years ago and it dominated my life. I became obsessed and would play hours and hours a day. It's incredibly addictive.
I got to meet lennox lewis back in 2008 he was inducted into the world boxing hall of fame that year along with my dad greg haugen, marvin hagler and pernell whitaker very humble guy my dad got lennox to sign some gloves for me you should get my dad on the podcast joe greg haugen
As a chess teacher and somebody who used to be pretty competitive, I wanted to be there for this conversation! Sorry, to say guys, but 1100 blitz rating on chess.com (he's actually 1055) is a beginner. I don't know where he got the idea that 1400 is a master. That's not even close to a master. I'm 1500 and I'm not that good at blitz or anywhere near master level at it.
Everyone always thinks fighters as some sort of savages, but that's honestly only a small part of their personality that they choose to let out when they feel they need to. If you didn't know how bad Lennox was you'd think he was a professor or something haha
It's time you had Magnus Carlsen on the show. Failing that, at least get someone like Kasparov or Kramnik, so that you can finally talk about chess with someone who knows what they are talking about.
My brother in law taught me how to play chess when I was 7. We would spend all day playing Chess and its a game iv never ever forgot how to play. Where nearly every card game iv forgot how to play within a few months.
Hey Joe, Lennox references Russian Carom. Surprised you didn't pick up on it. It would be great if you would have explained that game as many people don't know how to play it.
Me too. I think they are expensive to maintain though, the cloth needs to be in perfect shape if you want to have a good time with it. As in pool people can just drink beer and pot some balls on a shitty table.
Lennox makes a mature, admirable and inspiring comment that he plays several games of chess a day, to keep his brain active - especially because of his previous career. The other 2 guys spend the rest of the podcast asking how good he is, how high he is ranked and whether he beat this guy or that guy.Lennox intelligently makes the point of why does it have to be about beating everyone, all the time, he just enjoys the process, and the guys keep going on about who he beat. Americans Eh! Everything is about winning, don't enjoy your life, win at all costs, regardless of, enjoyment or stress
Joe knew that Lewis was talking out of his ass about chess, but let him get away with it. He felt it was enough to put him in his place regarding Tyson (not being in his prime) and the pool games.
Just like the show with his MMA friends, Joe Rogan should make a show with his pool friends ... I'm sure there are some fun poolhall stories to be shared!
Amazing someone could be soft spoken , true gentleman. I saw a video of some stupid guy got a bit to pushy putting his fist in Lenox face, he was not happy. Great interview
I was thinking maby he is using another chess site, but he is definitely playing in chess.com. (i checked his profile) by his score he is considered to be very weak not even average, Master level starts from 2300-2400 ( 2200 with fide raiting) so he is not even near with that. And the funny thing is he is not progressing, contrary he is loosing more and more and looses rating
You don't reach "master" ranks in chess until around 2200 fide qhen you can get the candidate master title, before that comes expert and depending on how you're rated, class A-D
Lennox Lewis seems like a real gentleman and regular guy. Nice to see that he beat the odds and made it out of such a brutal sport O.K.
"Hey, hey Jamie. Make sure you make the title me beating Lennox Lewis."
I totally see that happening.
Lol more like Yves Edwards

I was just about to write exactly the same thing. I always wanted him to get whupped as a boxer, but what a lovely chilled guy
