- Hey everyone! In this binaural ASMR video, I attempt to draw a handful of Pokémon from memory after not seeing pictures of them in a long time. Since I'm not a current fan of Pokémon, you can probably guess how it goes.
This video includes soft speaking, whispering, and Apple Pencil tapping sounds as I draw in Procreate on my iPad Pro. Enjoy!

Idk what it is about someone doing something poorly, but it’s a special kind of asmr for me.
I’ve identified two flavors of asmr. Expected and unexpected.
Expected asmr is satisfying af. It would be like watching a professional artist with perfect memory of Pokémon draw each one. You know where the lines are going to go, and they just rattle off the widely known information about each Pokémon. Or maybe woodworking, soap cutting, things like that.
Unexpected asmr is messy af. Unpredictable. It’s this video, with…ehem no offense…little recollection of what the Pokémon look like, you have no idea where the lines are going. You’re also rambling, each word is just as unpredictable as your lines. This flavor gets me tingling a lot more than the other, yet each hold the same level of importance personally.
Idk why I felt the need to share this, I know we don’t fully understand the science so I believe that perhaps sharing observations is important if we ever want to figure it out! Is there something to the unexpectedness that triggers this? Is it an ancient survival mechanism to notice quiet changes in our perceived pattern recognition within our surroundings? Could it be that the only reason we find it relaxing is because we are in the safety of our beds, knowing that no matter what patterns are interrupted no predators can enter our locked doors?
I for one am quite curious.
