If there is a local government hotel inspection office, you should inform them of the bedbugs. Infestation is usually frowned upon. I stayed at a hotel in Florida where ants would come out at night. I informed the hotel staff the next morning and they just flatly said that I was wrong. I sent an email to the city hotel inspection office detailing my findings and surprisingly an inspection crew showed up the next day. The hotel manager was not happy to have a surprise inspection. :-)

Although we all make mistakes when booking, sometimes we are just too busy to read/look and just click on a great price.
Lots of the 'hotels' today aren't really hotels but rather a form of serviced apartment that was taken off the long-term market to be let out by people who want the extra cash but not the extra effort involved in short-term lettings. Hence you see charging for cleaning when you leave, difficulty contacting anyone to resolve problems, but charging for towels is a bridge too far.

I watched a documentary about house pests years ago by an expert exterminator. He recommended that if you stay in a hotel/guest house/apartment that the very first thing you should do is pull back the sheets from the corner of the bed and check for insect fecal matter or bloodspots on the mattress. This will indicate the presence of bed bugs which are among the worst house invaders you can have, as they are nigh on impossible to eradicate from a property unless it is irradiated (costly) to a high temperature. This is because they can lay dormant in the fabric of a building for months and eggs etc. be unaffected by bug spray or bug bombs. He recommended leaving straight away with your suitcase unopened, as you could unwittingly bring them home to infest your own property. Increased travel and tourism is adding to the problem of them spreading..

You really really really need to keep an eye on whether you brought any bed bugs with you. They are super persistent and can easily jump to your luggage, clothes and the like. The only real way of getting rid of them at once is doing a heat treatment where your apartment is heated above 52C for extended periods of time, or alternatively multiple visits by pest control and throwing much of your furniture away.

I enjoy your videos from India, and wish some day I'll be lucky enough to visit Prague. I was checking on the book "Honest Guide" and found that it's probably not available in India/USA/UK from Amazon/B&N, which is a pity since the shipping cost is prohibitive. Besides, I'm not sure whether I can buy in Czech Koruna from India. So sad😰

I've been to Italy 3 times. Been scammed each time. Knew I was ending scammed but couldn't do anything about it. Car hire x2. Food bill costs x2

Agoda did some similar shit to me. We booked two 3-ppl rooms for two nights. When we tried to check into the hotel they said the rooms were only 2-ppl rooms, so total four people can check in. We paid the difference for upgrading to a 3-ppl room and tried calling Agoda, their call center number was an international not-toll-free number. The agent kept putting us on hold until finally she hung up and stopped answering our call when we asked to be escalated to a supervisor. I'm never gonna use Agoda again.
