5 Euros can get you 100 outdated Belarus rubles! 🥳🎉🤑
Dude that is so overpriced, just yell let's call the police and you get them for free.
Thats a good price!
Hahahaha best comment 😂
LOL What about trdelniks?
going anywhere near there could get a naive tourist kidnapped and tortured to death by satanists.
*Finally, good to see that Honza is eating. He has been hungry since you started those food tasting videos. Please give more videos on cheap kebabs and doners. Thanks.*
Even though I hate tourist-ridden places because it's so crowded, Prague is one of the few where I actually felt 'at home' for some reason. Don't know why but it just felt relaxed in a way. Definitely want to return there some time, if not for the place itself it's for the food and drinks. Still bummed out by the fact that I can't get Kozel Cerny outside of the Czech Republic, or at least not the last time I checked.
you could get kidnapped and tortured to death there. Don't go alone.
@@alanmalcheski8882 oh yeah, I would nwvwe go alone on these trips. I don't mind travelling alone but those trips I'd be careful of going on my own.
@@NickyHendriks Good.
@@alanmalcheski8882 thanks for the advice though 😉🙃
Someone actually drinks that piss? 😁 Just kidding, whatever you enjoy
Been to Prague once and your tips helped me greatly! However your timely updates in your channel make me just wanna keep going back!
Hi Janek, thank you very much for the service you provide to the world. I visited Czech Republic in 2019 and want to visit again in the future. I have spent 5-10 minutes a day learning Czech for the last two years - slowly making progress and the billboards in the backgrounds are starting to make sense now.
Keep the good work up
Good work. I learn German. I would love to visit Czechia too though, someday. I do not think I will learn Czech. I do think it is however an interesting language.
I am curious how many Czechs speak German.
Hii, my girlfriend and I are planning to visit Prague this summer for a week, and since it's our first international trip together, we were a bit stressed out and scared of getting scammed, your channel helped a lot, and we're glad we're visiting such a beautiful city very soon!
Much love from France ! 🥰
Hope you both have the best of time
Its impossible to get scammed in prague, you can see the grift from 1000 miles away, taxi used to be big in scamming but that got mostly checked by UBER and competition, if you go seeking the "Adult Entertainment" you will get finessed, as is the truth in every part of the world. Memorize conversion rate for your currency in czech crowns so you can spot obvious Bollocks easier, but if you have a feeling that everything is expensive, you are 100 percent right, because chances are, most things are gonna cost more in prague than at back home unless you live in switzerland. 25 czech crowns is 1 euro give and take some small change. So if you think something is costing more than reasonable ammount, feel free to call the Bollocks and walk away, finding good places to eat and sleep is simple, Google is your friend. If you want to exchange money, stick to the couple of exchanges in Jindrizska street near wencesslass square, they are usually run by arabs and have the best rates. Crime is pretty low here so other than grifters its not too much to worry about. Just dont be a moron.
how did it go?
Czech republic has amazing prices if you're a tourist. You can eat and drink for about half the price of what things cost here in Germany.
Opposite feeling in reversed situation… 😔
Such prices are extremely hard to come by in Prague nowadays. Even kebabs are often more than 5 EUR, let alone full meals in restaurants - they cost well above 10 EUR in many cases. We even often travel to Germany and have no problem with prices here, it's very similar.
@@jmsmilfajt Its very hard to find cheap places, usually you have to know a guy or see a video about it. When I moved to prague for a short time, i had hard time finding cheap stuff.
Reality check - Czechia has amazing prices if you're a local. Not so much for tourists.
Except for beer. That is really cheap compared to everywhere else. Unfortunately.
@@PradedaCech tak ty neviš moc o čem mluvíš :D
Thank you for a positive, helpful & fun video. I stopped watching the videos because it was constant drama, and we already know life itself presents enough of that, all by itself without having to surf for it. Everything, & everyone in the world doesn't present a danger just waiting to jump out at us. With a healthy dose of information & situational awareness I think we can enjoy our travels much more. I hope to see more balanced videos like this of your beautiful home & I hope to travel to Prague in the future. Thanks again!
The channel started out as that, they used to just catch the taxi scammers
I believe the prices in the Czech Republic have increased within the last few years. Also, Numbeo tells me the cost of living in Prague is coming closer to the ones in some Euro countries.
Well living there is realy expensive, but getting a meal or so (its usually tradionall meal) u can get fot 5-6 euros. Before covid came, u would get those meals for 4 euros. Beer should usually cost you around 1,5 euros half a litre, but in most pubs in prague its usually 2-2.5 euros.
@@thestroyer17 only beer is cheap in Prague. The cost of the products in souper markets is similar to London.
A magnet for the fridge for example, starts from 4 euros and higher. Meaning the souvenirs in Prague are more expensive than in Paris !
It wasn't only me, we met other ppl who where equally surprised with the cost of living there.
Two days later, we went to Vienna and everything was cheaper there. Imagine our surprise!
I was in Kutná Hora a week ago and the entrance to St. Barbara is actually 180 CZK. So, unfortunately, entry there is no longer free.
V Kutné Hoře jsem byl před týdnem a vstup do Svaté Barbory je ve skutečnosti 180 Kč. Takže vstup tam už bohužel není zdarma.
That's true! I was there in November - there was the same price for entrance as you mentined
J . Křtitele a ten je v ceně vstupenky do Kostnice.
Do Barbory je vstup zdarma pouze pro občaney Kutné Hory (nebo děti do 6 let). Pro turisty tudíž žádná výhoda :(
You can get in st. Barbara's church for free if you live in Kutná Hora (free entrance for kids under 6 yo as well). Sadly, no benefit for the tourists :(
yes, would love to see a 50 euro version!
I absolutely love Prague. Feels like home. Can’t wait to get back there again and again and again.
Thank you for these videos. I definitely need this because I'm probably coming there in September to continue my education. I hope to meet you somewhere on the streets while you make videos. 😁
I was in Prague 3 months ago and everything was overpriced. Given the information I had about Life there and the average cost of living, I was expecting lower prices for pretty much everything. At first, we thought that only the old town would be that expensive because it is a big tourist trap. We soon realized that the whole city is expensive with few exceptions.
Also, we met some tourists from the Balkans who were equally surprised by the average cost of things too.
The next days in Vienna were much cheaper! Imagine that!
Just returned from a 6 city Europe trip and I agree 100% with your assessment. I thought Prague was way overpriced.
Awesome city, great people and delicious food. I loved my time in Prague and will return again in a few years.
I love places that have "transport tickets" rather than what we have here. One ticket if you go by train, one if you go by bus, one if you go by tram / sumway (assuming there is one) etc. And most of them will have a price that is WAY higher if you buy it with cash/card rather than download the app for each company. Some refuse to take cash, some refuse to take card (very rare, but has happened).
Wow, the inflation hit Czech Republic really hard. Last time when I was in Prague you could buy so much more with €5 than some french fries with cheese. Now it's close to Vienna prices and it was half of them back in 2018-2019
Annual inflation is nearby 20% also national bank is selling reserves to boost exchange rate and make CZK more expensive.
I'll be there in June... can't wait... you're my guide.
Every time I watch one of your videos I want to go back to Prague!
I ate lunch in the Prague City Hall and can confirm it was great and outstanding value!
Love your show! So down to earth and to the point. Can't wait to try the duck! On the way!! !
I discovered you just now. Another reason to continue learning Czech
Great content and your video/images were superb. Is it a new camera?
"It's beyond the scale, ty jo". As someone who ends his sentences with "ty vole" even when speaking English outside of CZ, I love it when Janek uses "tak" or "ty jo" here and there every now and then even in English videos. :D
I do enjoy his uploads.
I have absolute respect for his efforts to protect the public.
Scammers are some of the lowest of the low.
Good luck and god bless him.
Planning on Prague this fall. Would love to see a 50 euro guide. Thanks for all the great content
Me too
Well, if you can get 3 beers for 5€ it means you can get 30 beers for 50€!
Tomorrow im in Prague and thank to you, im very prepared for my trip and super excited to discover prague. Thank you
City Hall lunch looks excellent!
I love this channel. I visited Prague in the fall of 2022 and want to return NOW! Maybe a side trip to Slovakia next time 😊
Try Hungary.
love your videos!! 😊
Don’t forget Scoutsky Institute by main square. I learned about this from you went there when I was in Prague in2019. Thank you for the lead😊
Great video! Prague is high on the list mainly due to your channel!
You drank my beer?!?! Damn you, now I need to go to Prague and get that mistake sorted out :)
I would love to visit prague just because i now know what to avoid what to see and what to do. The prices are so cheap the people are so lovely and the site seeing is so beautiful.. i wonder how much a good 3-5 star hotel would be. But ty HG i will deff try to go to prague
Keep up the good work!!!!!
As we did in Prague recently, we always buy 24, 48 or 72 hour transport tickets and ride everywhere just to view the city that we are in. Much better than the more expensive and restrictive hop-on, hop-off bus tours. An hour's research before arriving at a city and you know where to go.
If you order a Hladinka of Pilsner Urquell at the standing line to the bar at Lokal, how much tip is appropriate? I think it was approximately 50 Koruna
Lovely content as always!
Such a fun video to watch! 🎉
Wow very nice suggestions, thank you!
Can't wait for your video from Liberec, im your fan from Poland and im regularly in Liberec for my medicines, but i want to discover this amaizing city (Maybe also with Jablonec nad Nisou) one more time
Thank you thos was extremely fun to watch. I like your vibe. Could you recommend places to stay on budget? Like hotels n such?
Would love to see a 50euro video.😊😊
where are the full day tickets purchasable. is it at the stations or do you get them on the bus/tram itself?
Short-term tickets for Prague (from 30 minutes to 3 days) can be purchased in following ways:
Tickets are valid on metro, tram, bus, ferry and train lines in the area of Prague.
In information centers and selling points at most of the metro stations
In yellow ticket vending machines at metro stations and some surface transit stops
In newspaper shops in the whole area of Prague
In the mobile application PID Lítačka (paid by credit/debit card, Masterpass or Apple Pay, ticket needs to be activated before your travel)
Inside every tram (only by contactless credit/debit card)
I might have to pop and try the town hall one tomorrow whilst I am here in Praha!
I used to live in Prague from 2012 to 2015. Even then you could barely survive with 5euros. I did have around 30k salary which was good for me because in my 20s. I remember in this period some prices increased with 60-70 percent and left for good. Then I came back for holiday in 2018 I paid Airbnb 60euros lunch for 2 was 60 euros. Dinner who knows how much. What i want to say now inflation is even bigger and 5 euros are nothing in modern life. Prague became more and more expensive but I love it, Prague is one of the best capitals in Europe.
Airbnb is part of the reason for the increasing costs, fuck them with rusty barbed wire
Where can I buy your guide in either print form or PDF?
Im coming to prague in April.
Love Your Videos! ❤❤
I was in Paris over a month ago, and my cousin had me get a pass, for one week. Same as in Prague, good for all transportation. The freedom is amazing.
I plan to visit IntelliJ sometime this autumn, so hopefully your info won't obsolete ttat time.
Can't wait to go back to Prague! Prob in the fall 😁
I used to see your videos for fun now I discovered I’ll be going to Prague in not very long with a few others from my school
Dobrou chut Honzo!!!
I love budget traveling, so bring it on,
3:43 U Černého Vola! I love that place 👍
I really love your videos. ^_^ Actually am tempted to visit Prague, or Praag as we call it in the Netherlands.
Great videos guys. Thanks a bunch! Suggestion, if you allow me, if you plan in making a video about how to tip for good service, ok service and bad service. Also what you would define as good, ok or bad service hence culturally tourists may not know what is considered polite and professional coming from a server/waitress in Prague. Keep it up! I really like many of your videos. Thanks again!
About “How to tip” I meant what percentage or fixed amount you would tip based on your final bill. Do they split the bills or we always pay one bill etc.
Do dogs need a ticket in public transport or are there other restrictions? This full day ticket is really interesting.
Wonder if you can do 1 week (arrive on a Sunday to takeoff on the following Saturday) in Prague on 1000 US$. I think I will have that saved up by June 2023.
Hi. I am coming to Prag soon and I was wondering if you can recommend some hotels with spa at reasonable price? Thank You.
Maaaan i want to have a guided tour of Prague with these guys..... 😊👌👍✌🤘🖖🤙👏
I love your videos! And I love Prague. I doubt that you will see this comment, so it’s an open question to all the czech viewers. I study in Slovakia and I always travel there by train, so I usually have a stay at Praha hlavní nádraží. I don’t have a card, so I always exchange some Euros for CZK at a change office at the train station (I know that they are ripping me off, but usually I am to hungry to care). Usually I get like the equivalent of 16€ in CZK when I give them 20€. But no matter what amount I give them I will always get a bunch of 100CZK or 200CZK bills and a single 1CZK coin. Here’s my question does anyone know why they always give you a single 1CZK coin in addition to the CZK bills, is it to fool foreigners? So they think they got their exact moneys worth? Like „oh, they even gave me a coin, so they must’ve given me the exact exchange rate”, or is there another reason for that?
I would suggest to exchange money before you leave, you should get definitely over 20CZK for 1€ (currently the official exchange rate is around 24CZK/1€)
and yes..that single coin seems like BS to me
50 euro team reporting in
I had a great time at Prague this NYE and your videos were really helpful: I plan on coming back ! (Also I’ve developed a huge crush for a girl that lives there but that’s besides the point! Ahah)
Ok fine…you got me to pay attention to the various ceilings in your pub video to find the fried cheese place (I might have a problem…it’s very addicting)
Great video as always. I would be interested in seeing things to do at other price points.
Now if I could only get a flight there for $5.
The pastry reminds me of a Paris-Brest. Yum!
Well, I was there 30/12-1/12 and the only real cheap thing was public transport. We went to few spots suggested in your older videos and prices were quite Inflated or at least a bit more than expected. Maybe they had holidays prices on.
I think that inflation is more probable than holiday prices
Same, stayed there from the 30/12 to the 03/01, and I feel that either the places are now famous and they increased the price, or it was a holiday price. But even with that, I really liked Prague, I want to go back there off-season.
Price of everything is up, because of inflation in Czech Rep. :( Things cost now 1.5x - 2x more, then before war on Ukraine.
„real cheap public transport” ?? maybe if you compare it to some west european countries... you should compare them to other central Europe capitals instead, like Warsaw (where I live).. in Warsaw a 75 min ticket costs 0.95 euros, in Prague 90 min ticket is 1,67 euros... in Warsaw a 24h ticket is 3,20 euros, in Prague the same ticket is 5 euros... 72h ticket in Warsaw is 7,60 euro , in Prague 72h is almost 14 euros... that’s almost double... the only thing that is cheaper in Prague than in Poland’s capital is beer in a pub... Czech people who live near the Polish border buy their groceries , petrol etc. in Poland
@@adamw.3409 But in Prague, ticket is valid even for all trains, boats and cablecars, you buy 5 eur ticket and you just can use every possible vehicle in Prague. I think in Warsaw, it's not like that, but maybe I am wrong, it's 3 years since I visited Warsaw.
Ouch, that Smazak thing painfully reminds me of dutch Frikandel-stuff, guess I'll rather use that as a warning what to better avoid, lol. I totally get the pub-grub thing, but if you can have a Gulash with lekker Knedlicki instead ...c'mon :)
i guess you have´nt had any fried cheese with sauce Tatare before.... highly recommend 👍👌
It's a universal meal that every pub has, sometimes it's the only thing :D
Lovely video. I've been to Prague two times (most recently during Xmas) and on both occasions your videos have been so helpful!
I really like you guys. Even tho I have been a couple of times to Prague, I guess I have to come back again :D
Does the over 65 exemption for public transport apply to non-EU citizens also? Ran into that little caveat at a world heritage site in Madrid back in 2014.
where have the old trams gone? last time i was in Prague (I think it was in 2011 or 2012) there were still the old (soviet era) Trams that opened all doors at every stop. Did all of these get replaced?
Not all of them, but most of them have been modernised or replaced
They are just a few of them now in Prague. They were replaced by the new ones.
Tatra T3 are great.
I'm visiting Prague in about 6 weeks. Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the book? Website says it's out of stock.
Are Euro notes accepted there? Or do you need to change the money?
in the part where you mentioned what you can do on strictly 5 dollars you mentioned taking a train from prague to kutna hora. from what i can see thats 35 dollars which is way over budget. liberec i see as low as 4 euro but with round trip would be 8 it would be cooler to see a more realistic budget and a actual plan that utilizes that budget effectively.
I honestly hope more places adopt the +60 ride free cuz that's actually really amazing
great video
Super. Danke für deine Videos
Where can i get the fried cheese with fries
Nice tips thx :)
Why youtube suggested this channel to me only today?
I literally was there yesterday, having no idea what to do.
Need to visit Prague someday, here in Sweden (Stockholm) it's like 2- 3X the price...

€5 for a dinner in the city hall is amazing! You'd pay about that in a _bar mleczny_ in my decidedly untouristy town in eastern Poland.
Well usualy the prices are higher but this is a government building. That´s why it’s so cheap.
Can we still get the honest book guide?

Hi Guys. My wife and I very much enjoy your great work showing us around Prague, Thank you. I have heard about an area just outside the city where there are multiple Football fields I think it is still in use apparently there are 6 or 7 Football pitches covering a HUGE area. Can you help with the location or better still pay it a visit for your viewers. Max. Australia.
It is Strahov stadium (Strahovský stadión), it is near the center - 20 minutes by tram and bus or you can walk from Petřín.
