Alessio, be careful what you wish for, because Jessi has learned more about Italy than you know! LOL!!! She has become quite the historian! I love it.
garum... tasting history with Max Miller 😂
That was a great video - I really liked how he linked to the modern garum, Colatura di Alici.
The man would lay on a couch with a bolster under his arm and the table was high enough for ease of reach. In a proper Roman Republic home of the upper class the woman would not recline but sit in a chair. Later on "scandalous" women did recline. 😂 This was a wonderful video and I am glad you enjoyed the foods!
Jessicus, being scandalous af 💀
Your best episode ever. :) I actually laughed out loud. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊❤️
What a wonderful video! I really enjoyed it so much!! 👏🏼😃 As an ancient historian I really appreciate how well you researched all of this!
An interesting little fact; carrots in Roman times would have been white, pale yellow or purple (red/black). The orange carrot was ‘created’ in 16th century Holland.
Jessi & Alessio should show THUMB UP or THUMB DOWN like Ancient Romans at the Colosseum! :) I was required to take two years of Latin in high school! Oh yes! Glad Jessi talked about the Vomitorium! :) When I was a child, I thought the ancient ruins from Greece and Rome were caused by people drinking too much wine becoming drunk and knocking over the buildings walking around drunk! LAUGH OUT LOUD!
Colatura di Alici is the closest modern day equivalent to garum - I bought some at Eataly and man, it makes delicious pasta sauce! So good!
Very sad all of your shorts are gone. I used to sift through them when I needed a chuckle😢
we keep it in istagram right now
You guys need to check Max Miller at Tasting History he has a recipe for Garum, in fact there's an entire playlist of Roman foods he prepares
Great video. This reminds me of the “Roman picnics” we would have in Latin class in high school. We would dress up in mock togas, and bring in ancient Roman foods to share with the class.
❤Best video ever! I loved all the authentic foods from the early Roman times. And it actually looked delicious! Bravo Pasinis!
I love this video. It's so fun and educational. Haha. Way to go Jessie. The food looked delicious.
What a fantastic video. Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us. I can't wait to see what you guys create when you move to Italy. Love from Miami ❤️🌞
Highly entertaining and educational video! Wonderful job guys I loved it ❤
Ha! This was really fun to watch this morning. Feeling inspired to try this myself. Thanks for the watch! :)
Eat grapes with the „Italian Hand!“ I burst out laughing!!!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I really enjoyed this being 50% Italian i always love learning new things i didnt know & Jessi you definitely did your research & gave us alot of details like side notes on top of everything u prepared like the separate room to go vomit then come back to the table etc all that i didnt know.
I love you guys so much! This was cool as heck! I don’t eat meat but I would love to try everything else. The carrots and the cabbage salad looked amazing!
i loved this video! I love all things historical and it was fun.
Love this kind of video --- I would love to see different area foods in a video like this too!! So interesting!
This was an interesting video and educational too on Roman food history. Thank you😊
How cool. Great video.❤
Enjoyed this😂❤🇯🇲
Such great effort into this! It's always good to go back to basics and practice your skills. Minus the fish gut sun sauce
I enjoyed this video very much.
Cool idea!❤
this was not only educational but also very entertaining and definitely a fun idea for an activity with loved ones :)
MORE CONTENT LIKE THIS🙏🏼💛
Very interesting. Could be used as an adjunct tool in a history class. When I taught, we often made food such as Colonial Days or French food or whatever. It speaks closely to the culture and the times and makes it more interesting. My favorite was making our own butter. Yum. Keep the videos coming. Ya'll are great!
Love your video's there's so much thought that goes into your content, Ancient Rome times , can Allessio dress up next time lol 😁
Grazie mille Alessius et Jessicus from c. 121 AD 😂😂😂 ❤ loved it!
Our pleasure!🤣
Good fun loved this
Thanks so much
Love your videos! Would you please add links to the cookbooks you mentioned?
You could have found fish sauce in the Asian section. I visted the Philippines and they put fish sauce on everything. Even on spaghetti!
Loved the video, it made me laugh! I was born in Italy!
The food was second to watching the love. Ive never seen such signs of deep devotion. Very awed
Very interesting. Who knew. I applaud you both, great acting like Ancient Romans.
I love all alessios jokes . Best video
This video was wonderful, so interesting. I would definitely eat this food, why not? Ps when are you going to Campagna and Basilicata? Love you guys xoxoxo
😂 Alessio throws food on floor waves hand “to the gods” 😂
Such an awsome video. Love your happy faces and great creative ideas. Keep it up , happy Sunday& much love from Sweden 💛💙
They do Spritz apparently 😂 great video, very interesting and entertaining!
You guys are very good & funny !
I enjoyed this video
I would not eat some of the items as worschestershire sauce
great video ! Jessi has such pretty hands, very expressive
Please do more of these from different places
WOW I checked out Wal-Mart for the olive oil Alessio talked about, and YES it was $11.97 plus tax in Southern Calif. On Amazon it is $19.64. So I saved about $7.50. Also it tastes SOOOO much better than the stuff I had. THANKS!!!
Where does he refer to the olive oil brand? Thanks!
I loved this it was so intresting! Next what they ate in Frivoli in anchent times?
Fun experiment!
Good morning from Long island New York!!
buongiornooooo
Cool
No better history than food history 😋
Perfect.
Wow !!!! 😋😋😋😋🍵🧁🍦☕️🍰😋🍕
Y'all should do this again but with actual Garum... Pretty sure theres more ancient Roman dishes oth there.
The fish sauce is MSG. It gives flavor to everything.
All you are missing is the lead sweetened wine.
Nero loved it
Siete una forza! Ma come vi vengono queste idee? 😅
The Asian food section at the grocery has fish sauce. I love it on Vietnamese dishes!
Just subscribed recently. Love your channel. This video was informative and made me LOL so many times!
Thanks for subbing! we are very happy you like the video! ti auguriamo una bellissima Domenica
"For the 'gram..." Hahahahahahaha. Xoxox
You are both so cute and charming! Fun video!!!
Thank you 🤗
Wine and water, an ancient wine spritzer
My guess is that pancake stuck to the pan because ancient Romans would have used pans that were so seasoned with oil nothing would stick. Castiron in the south comes to mind.
You two are so cute together, like best friends but I know Alessio would say no best friends..you are more. Totally agree. Loved the history and the food but I think I would skip breakfast and leave that for the Gods entirely 🤗😂🤣
I'd like that wine
I used to have nonstick pans that needed replacing every few years... then I invested in 2 carbon steel pans. 5 minutes of seasoning and it's naturally nonstick. I've had these carbon steel pans for 9 years and they still perform wonderfully.
I felt so sorry for that nonstick pan being scarred with the metal utensils.
@@ericpmossahahahahah
Ancient Roman eat fish sauce like Asian, they called its garum
So amazing
This is such wealthy food. Wheat flour was a fortune and you would never kill a chicken because the eggs are just to valuable.
“Doitfor the gram”🍇🥰
Cannot believe he didn’t know about the vomitoriums. Too young/Italian for John Belushi. Lolol
In Roman times restaurant eating was considered low class. The rich would have private chefs with sous chefs and line cooks/ chef de parties.
The private chefs were slaves.
Yes!!!...haha...Garum!!...haha...(Chinese markets have a similar fish sauce)...😂😂
Actually, you today can buy Colatura di Alici, which is said to be similar to garum.
You can get fish sauce at the Asian market, we use it a lot in Thai cuisine, but I can't imagine putting it on EVERYTHING! 🤢
What happen to the leaf headband.
You didn't forget lugamen! They used fish sauce instead of salt!
Chickpea flour was common in ancient times.
Next take the Spartan diet challenge
Do you have a video about how Italians stay lean despite the fact that so much carbohydrate? 😅
I wish you used real garum. I found some on Amazon.
u are wonderful
Grazie mille
You can purchase fish sauce in Asian markets.
I wonder if this video will increase the sale of Vietnamese fish sauce to Italy?! LOL 😂
You can get fish sauce over in the asian food section of any grocery store.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🙂
💙
Invite friends over for this meal, but they have to wear togas.
dormouse, different types of small birds, snails. And believe it or not hamburgers.
The fish sauce sounds like Chinese fish sauce
And he's missing his toga 😂 It's time to buy a new pan 🤔
So disappointed about the stuffed dormice. Mmmmm. And if you’ve ever woken up to peacocks you’ll understand why they ate them.
😄
Leftover lions?
I’m glad you have modern wine to go with it. The ancient Romans had pretty grim wine, and some would sweeten it by using lead cups or a lead-tainted sweetener called sapa.
Eeewww
And...that's why we evolved to better cooking 🍳!!😅
First rule, tie your hair while you COOK !!!
I want to taste the culture and food of other countries❤❤❤
5:35 you've left some phone numbers visible, might want to edit them out
The vomitorium!
Imagine the realtors showing off a mansion…
Alessius et Jessicus c. 121 AD Woo Hoo! 😂
Romans learned to make fish sauce from the Greeks, also Worcestershire tastes NOTHING like fish sauce!
