The aliens designed perfectly foolproof shutdown mechanism - literally press a button. And yet, you still managed to screw it up :D

Titanium is just the worst in this game. The fact that it's common resource and you can get 4 of these from scrap is deceptive, as you still need usually 10x more of it than any other material. You get an impression that there is no reason to store it up, but from the mid-game on it's not the gold, copper, quartz or silver or lithium you are running after, it is Titanium
I got myself into a sticky situation where my base had reached it's critical point. But I had no Titanium at hand for reinforcements and I was nowhere near any sources (Titanium can only really be gathered from starting biomes or from ore deposit in Lost River and I just happened to be right in middle of the way between the two), so I scavenged the Titanium tubes by replacing them with glass tubes. Which made me need *more* reinforcements and more Titanium to build it with and I basically spend last 6h of playtime trying to patch my base and everything was horrible
