To save some time, you can save them, if you get the enzyme 42 before they arrive and shut down the gun they will instead say that they CAN'T land because of a debry the aurora left, so no matter what, you cant be saved by the sunbeam, least you can do is save them

You did miss something. While you were rambling on after you tried to turn it off the second time, they said about another facility! Thatâs probably where you have to go to shut it down. Like so he can see this and we can save the sunbeam!
No you have to disable the gun on the enforcement platform the only place you have to go to disable the weapon is to the Sea Emperor do her task get the cure go back to the enforcement platform and disable the gun all the other facilities are nothing but just the place for the Cuttlefish or new things to scan otherwise they're nothing to bother with if you're trying to complete the story

No, the sunbeam will live IF you actually cure yourself, then answer the radio call for the sunbeam. You canât automatically start the sunbeam code. The sunbeam will actually say something like it cant land because of metal in atmosphere.

You havent played the game have you? The text is about the facility where they hold the sea emperor, you need to go there to get the cure which he did before trying the gun
You dont have to go there you just have to go to the lava castle base to get the cure

The reason that the beam came out of nowhere is because the explosion, laser beam and the tuning animation are all controlled by that event but disabling the gun must have overidden the animation to turn to sunbeam so to looked broken.

The easter egg for saving the Sunbeam should be that the Sunbeam crashes into the mountain because the pilot hasn't tried a planet landing since school.
Funny thing is that the emperor isn't the "end" of the game. You still have a long way to go before it's over. The emperor technically marks the halfway point of the game.

I noticed an easter egg: in the book "The Hitchker Guide to the Galaxy" (I might have spelled some words wrong sorry) the number 42 means: The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. even google has an easter egg about 42. (search "the answer to life the universe and everything" in Google)
you HAVE to use the com. center to recive their message then that part of the story happens
So it is possible to complete the game then disable the gun before the sunbeam, but just to be safe do it before you play the message

soo I guess that means we'll be blasted to oblivion when we try to leave the planet...
I don't actually own subnautica, but in every playthrough I have seen, the countdown to the sunbeam landing was activated by listening to the communications relay messages from the sunbeam. So by not using the communications relay at all, you might be able to skip the sunbeam entirely and make it to the end of the story to get the enzyme 42. Then listen to the messages and activate the sunbeam landing when you are already cured and disabled the weapons array.

Anthomnia, start from the time where the sunbeam has yet to arrive and
the gun is only triggered by playing that one specific subeam message.
All you gotta do is play the game without listening to ANY message (to prevent activating the sunbeam event or something) so
if you are finally at the sea emperor cure yourself with the enzymes and deactivate the gun THEN
you play all the messages while you progress through the game.
I think that is a legit way which could take some time but maybe, JUST MAYBE it will save the sunbeam(!)

I dare say, I think the radio message is what triggers the event, so you just have to not check the radio message that will start the timer. You can (probably) make it through the game without the Sunbeam even appearing

In the future, you could de-activate the Gun and then the Sunbeam will attempt to land, but just to mess with you, the Devs could have a GICANTIC Reaper come up from under the Sunbeam and just drag it into the ocean.

Just wanted to say now, if this happens the captain will say that they can't land due to debris into orbit so you can save it, but they can't save you
I fell through textures on my last Subnautica session (recording after Live on my channel) Somehow i fell into Emperor's room and managed to get cured. (I am collecting enzyme parts from very start) I continued playing, but i did not get Sunbeam's arrival anymore. All i had was a message from the pilot that was saying about a failed parking on simulator on such a small rock. Eventualy i fell again through textures and it all ended for me, before i could find out if you can actualy save Sunbeam.

If you don't go to the Sunbeam arrival location it will leave the planet, having scanned for you more thoroughly and attempting to find you in any way, and discover the gun, and having not found you, they leave to report the crash. They then send you a transmission about this.
You can actually save the Sunbeam by going back to the cannon whenever you hatch the little guys and then go through the portal evil see little white things floating in the water when you go through the portal stick your hand in little white things got you stick your hands to it then that will carry it and go you can go and shut off the big gun and that's how to save it
When the scene happened, I couldnât hear the sunbeam or see it, but there was just a huge BOOM! In the sky, and i didnât get the turret view
Another thing is the makers of Subnautica have avoided showing any other humans, with all the escape pods, the sunbeam, and even the aliens, and to make an alternate ending would require them to make humans

I hate how I and a lot of my friends thought that the Emperor was a big nasty monster you would have to fight, but now I s e that the Emperor is just a tender loving mother, and I feel so bad...
maybe now that the game is officially fully released, you could try this again, because the enzyme looks different in this version. And if you ignore the radio broadcasts and know where to go, i think you can save the sunbeam, potentially.
