Wow! So many great ideas! I’m on day1 of scootering and had already decided that a backpack was right for me - but I LOVE the idea of the mini pack ( I’m not much taller than a tweenager) for the chain, lock multitool, and hydration. And the idea of bringing along the extra illumination to attach to an extender is another concept I’m going to adopt. Please continue this series - I’ve read dozens of blogs and watched countless vlogs and you definitely gave me some great pointers.

Just bought the Hoover 1 to float around the camp sites and whenever. Throwing this thing in the van as a transport to my stealth van build. Like the high end scooters but I’ll start here. Great videos man. I’ve been riding since I was a child now 51 lol. No I’m not old lol. I commute on a 2019 road glide special Harley daily. Here me out these scooters are nice and fly. I’m a fan and hope the hover one is a good start. Keep the reviews going good content👍

I think I have a good tip for preventing flats. Tire liners! I live in a place that has TONS of goat head thorns, and I used to get flats on my bike crazy often. I installed mr tuffy liners on my bike and haven't gotten a flat since then. I'll be picking up my first scooter soon, it's a kaabo mantis pro SE (I know it's a lot of scooter for a newbie, but ill leave it in the slowest setting till I'm comfortable). The fat tire bike version of the liners should work well. A set should be large enough to even do a couple of layers if needed. Also, throw some talc powder on the tubes to help with pinch flats, it acts as a dry lubricant that prevents the tire and tube gripping on each other.

4:30 Here is an idea: if you don't have one, but you are equipped for electronic soldering at home (a soldering iron and some tin... thats all you need), you can easily solder the end of your cable too so it doesn't fray.
Obviously the crimp is easier, and this only works for people with a soldering iron, but in a pinch, the solder should work wonders, takes a minute or two to do, and will not cost you anything (maybe a cent worth of tin...)
Alternatively, a small piece of heat shrink tube and a heat gun/lighter/match/magnifying glass on a sunny day should also do the job

  • @harrison00xXx
    @harrison00xXx Před 2 měsíci

I mounted a front „bag“ on the handlebar for other reasons, at least when i use it which is just a range extender (4x Makita 18V 6Ah batteries + buck boost converter 600W 12-100V 0-8A) which can obviously charge the scooter even during drive.
with another cable i have also a good variable DC power supply with me and a 12V socket with a USB power supply in it. Thats about 400Wh of additional battery. Combined with the 0,6 Wh scooters battery i can go easily 40 km and it takes away some load of the scooters battery when going longer uphill.
I typically use 2A „charging“ but under load and driving i can give it easily 4 Amps and the first things drained are the tool batteries.
At home, i can charge the scooters battery with a 3rd party 4 Amps power supply and the tools batteries anyways super fast (i think 2x 180W each tool battery in the Dual charger).
For the sake of making use of the fast charging and „multi battery system“ i decided to go for multiple longer trips per day and got like 80km+ on the scooter in a single day (and never had to worry about batteries, 200Wh are always emergency reserve with 2 tool batteries staying fully charged in my backpack)
Im pretty amazed how well bigger tool batteries work as additional batteries with high power draw capabiliies, combined with the fact you can charge them quick and easy with the slide mechanisms as well even charge all 4 batteries at the same time (giving you like 800W charging power, excluding the scooter itself!)
I can charge my scooter batteries now with 360W (2) tool batteries and the scooter with about 200W, totalling out to nearly 600W. Im pretty much capable of going endless on the road by rotating the tool batteries, which is a hefty stress test for those to be honest (about 11 Amps per battery continuous discharge at 4A output to the scooter).
The system is pretty chilly at 2 Amps, 2x 6Ah batteries last for about 80 minutes, its just a bit „help“ for the scooters battery while driving and when parking the scooter shortly for a bit juice into it.
It helps especially since the scooters battery is going a bit weak after 4k km on it.

  • @galacticgalaxyonezerone7235

The problem with my current scooter is the front break is a drum break and the rear is regenerative which is absolutely fine but when stuff wears out I’m in trouble but I can probably figure it out as long as I got the right parts. That’s the other thing even on known trusted good brands like niu it’s really hard to find shops to take these and have work and tune ups done or find parts at there just isn’t any unless you find a place that they will work on e bikes like an ebike place etc and your lucky enough that they will work in these too after all they would have the know how and make money still. Same issue with parts though if parts are needed unless you had them swap stuff completely like motors etc whatever but at that point may as well just get another scooter. So it has to all be done and tested online tested meaning trial and error on of it comes undamaged and it’s the exact thing you need etc and have everything else to work on it and instal the new parts. Not only is it a trial an error but a veeeeerry looooonnnng and costly one.

Thanks for your suggestions, eventhough I think you're nuts to ride in the dark. Maybe you should talk about your scooter crashes in another video and discuss what got damaged more, you or the scooter.
Aside from my dry sense of humor, have you tried doing anything to help protect your scooter from rocks and mud affecting the undercarriage? I was toying with the idea of using spray-on rubber, which may also help with water protection.
Today, I bought some automotive door edging material to rim the sides of the my scooter's floor plate. I have to wait for the stuff to arrive in the mail. I know they sell bumber material for scooters, but it looks cheap, and I think they use double sided tape to secure it. If you are going to crash or scrape against curbs, the floor plate will be the first place of contact in many cases. Water and mud is a big problem in my area.

The screws holding the brake calipers are so tight on mine that I can't loosen them with the multitool. Welp, I guess I have to invest in some proper allen keys. The manufacturer really wrenched all the most important ones, all the screws on the stem, deck and wheels are super tight, I don't know if I can get them loose even with a proper allen key. I would hope the manufacturer installed the brakes correctly, if they took the time and effort to wrench them so tight they're almost impossible to unscrew. The brakes are working fine, so I guess I'll leave it for now.

Oh wait I did put my new grips on right okay thought so I overthought that one because I second guessed it. That was because I saw a different pair on one of the scooters that the wording was around the outer edge and it was a black ring so I thought I did mine wrong but no alright and either way I love the fifty-fifties I got on it now and it doesn’t let you put the, one the wrong way lol.

The deity grips are 32 mm and the Kaabo handle bar diameter is 22.2 mm. I should have no problem installing them right? Thanks for the video.

Appreciate the info! Looking forward to your new brake install video (if that’s in the works), these stock brakes require way too much tuning lol.

I like your scooter because it has wide handlebars. That’s what I’m looking for, but in a scooter no more than around $500. What would you recommend please? Much mahalo.
