I liked all the points u made, especially when living in a high population city but,
As someone who doesn't own an electric scooter i truly don't get the reason for buying one....
Entry level ones under 900$ seemed to b complete garbage & ones that have a 2000$ + price tag just seem ridiculous to me when u compare them to Electric Skateboards, Bikes and even bike conversion kits; heck i've seen used motorcycles go for 3000$or less!
So the only reliable paved road Electric commuting scooters r between 900-1500 and for anything off-road capable you're looking at 1600-3000$?!?
You could buy a Nice New bicycle and electric conversion kit with battery for 1100-1500$ and be able to go offroading.
Buying a electric scooter over 3000$ IS DUMB because ur competing with pretty good electric bike at that point

My mom got me an electric scooter for Christmas and it's amazing. I use it at my university. Instead of paying $100 for parking, I just use my scooter instead. If there's no traffic, I can get there in less than 5 minutes. I never leave it outside, it's small enough for me to fold and carry to class, even in my professors tiny office for my private music lessons. I ride it all over town, even downtown. I love everything about it. I just need to buy an extra battery to improve the range. It only costed my mom $300. I see everyone else having to rent scooters, so I'm happy I got my own.

I just got my Eagle One yesterday. My first scooter. I've been motorcycling for more than ten years and nearly 100k miles, but this is a whole different animal. I got it for the portability, though the weight and size of it does make it a little ungainly. Still, the thing is awesome.
Years ago I had a commute from hell. I had to take Caltrain from San Jose to San Francisco. Then I rode my bicycle from the Caltrain station into downtown. The scooter would have been great for this. Actually, with lane splitting being legal for motorcycles in California, a motorcycle would have been even better, but at that time I hadn't yet started riding.

Riding the scooters has improved my lifestyle. Since I did, I will NEVER trade having a scooter to anything else. I've been able to go to places in my city and next cities... places I don't even know exist... riding scooter have not only made going around much easier for me, it has also IMPROVE my relationship with my girlfriend. How? We spend more time riding and going places that we would never have gone driving... .... I got one and I got here one. We take off every Saturday and ride until the batteries run down... toooo much fun. My first scooter I bought 6 months ago was Ninebot MAX... This is a fantastic scooter. Then 3 weeks ago, I bought Dualtron Ultra 2... Oh My God..... this is heaven. It's over 3k.... so when you said in the video that if you have 3k you will get a scooter... I totally agree 100%... Awesome video man! I love it! I just started my journey by getting a Kaabo Wolf Warrior 11(I needed something extreme and reliable. This checked all the boxes. Also, I am 230lb 6ft 2in - So finding a scooter for someone who is heavier and body builds and wont choke....this one does it.) - I use it daily to go to and from work, the gym and around town with a backpack full of items! Absolutely a blast and a time saver! I'm glad people like you are creating videos like this to get the information out there! A lot of the issues I have are with people asking...
"Why not just get a cheap car? That scooter is expensive"
"Why not just get a bike, it's so much cheaper?"
    Questions like that.
Well, I've found that the reason I got my scooter is because of all of your points above. Also, cars require a lot more than just simply getting in it and going. (Maintainence, tires, check ups, insurance and meeting road requirements, registration...etc...) - not to mention, traffic and time. Biggest things. Physical footprint of being in a car is absurd. Why would I want to waste my time sitting in traffic, getting gas all the time and doing all these things? Silliness.
Plus, I have two cars already. I have a 2019 Shelby GT350 - turning on my V8 in the morning is EXPENSIVE and costs money. The only time I'd pull the Shelby out is really to go to the track. Again, see points above as to the reason why I don't care to drive my car unless I'm purely having fun. My CX5 does better, but again I see no point in driving that either unless I'm going on a long trip or picking up a lot of items.
Getting a bike requires a lot more physical exertion which is not feasible to show up to work smelling like a wet dog and I don't really care about riding one. Especially after a long day of work, I'd rather just get on my Scooter and have fun on the way from work. I think anyone's life can be improved by adding joy in the simple moments.
I got a scooter for me and if someone wants to be condescending about my personal choice and how I choose to spend my time and money.... screw them. Lol!
Also, where are you driving at in @2:30? Looks like Australia. :D

My friends with motorcycles worry about theft all the time and put locks every time since thieves use bolt cutters and angle grinders to take whatever they want. Scooter is a better option but price is crazy. If I could find one that does 40 mph and under $1700 that would be more reasonable.

I hired a scooter on a trip to Valencia last summer, and had waaay more fun than someone my age (68) should be entitled to. Looked into getting one on my return to the UK, only to come up against a brick wall... the Law! I've moved to Spain permanently now, and while there are limitations (25kmph legal top speed), I can pretty much go anywhere I want legally.
Ordered a Smartgyro Xtreme Speedway V 2.0, which will be here in a couple of days. 800W motor with a range up to 45Km. Speed is auto limited to the 25kmph legal, but it's software applied and easy to override up to 45kmph. This is going to be such a major boost to my quality of life as I live in a town with little public transport options (I don't drive). So many quiet, natural beaches within easy reach of the scooter, and the nearest train station which is 10Km away, for trips up to Valencia, where I can use it to get around. At 530 euros, it was a no-brainer, given its power and range. Buzzin' at the prospect

As someone whose license gets suspended quite often (I’m not that bright I know), I find these better and more practical than a 50cc scooter (you don’t need a license to drive a 50cc on the road in texas). They go about just as fast, not as far, but i can get literally all the way across Fort Worth on my ninebot max and I’m allowed to take bike trails or ride the trinity river trails with it (can’t do that with a 50cc). So I can match speed of a 50, pay less for something that doesn’t require an oil change (or maintenance for that matter) and cost me about 2$ a year to charge.. kinda makes gas powered 50s obsolete in my opinion… I mean unless I’m grocery shopping then I pull out the Tao Tao (or take the car shhhhh)

I thought Phoenix was too spread out but my scooter is a 40 mile range and I haven’t once experienced range anxiety. Its two years later now and scooters are just getting better and better and more and more people are switching to them for their commutes while keeping their cars because it's just so much fun. I love driving and going to track days and I have a LOT of fun with my cars but like the video says: There is nothing like riding a few inches off the ground going 40mph and I can't wait to not only ride my scooter home, but unwind from my day with a nice ride after work. I just bought a cheapo electric scooter. I live in Manhattan and although I much prefer riding my carbon road bike to get around the city, the risk of bike theft just makes it impossible. I finally broke down and bought a scooter because my office has announced its reopening in September (three days a week). I refuse to get on the filthy, crime-ridden subway. And I could easily do the 1.5-mile walk in about 30 minutes; however, I suspect I would rather sleep in and just zip to work in 5 minutes on the scooter.

I've thought about getting one of these for commuting if I end up with a job downtown. I see it as the perfect first/last mile (or even 4 miles) companion to the light rail/commuter trains, a reasonably fast and convenient vehicle I can easily bring with me. Bicycle is suitable in terms of speed, but dragging that onto the train is a hassle, something I can just bring to my seat is a lot easier. I would think of that as probably the biggest advantage of these, surprised it wasn't mentioned here.

    • @quillmaurer6563
      @quillmaurer6563 Před rokem

@@audemars_piguet13 To me that sounds like a hell of a lot more than I'd be willing to spend. And more capability, I'd be looking for just a few miles on either end of a train journey with less hassle than dragging my bicycle with me. Plus that one with 40 miles range would surely have a lot of batteries and thus be rather heavy, not well suited to what I have in mind. If I want to go that far or fast, I'll just ride my motorcycle (which I bought for far less than that). I'm sure there's something in a lower price range with maybe 10 miles range and 15mph top speed, and easily portable, that would be more suitable for what I'm thinking of.

I bought a RAZOR 300 about a year ago. The batteries were sealed lead acid and they lasted about 15 rides. I then bought 2 Lithium Ion batteries to replace the lead acid, tweaked the control board, put a more powerful motor on board and it goes like stink now as well as has good range. It gives me the latitude to go for minor grocery buys and just get around without burning gasoline. These things are a hoot. Here in Calgary, Alberta Canada you can ride them on the sidewalks as well as take them in the stores with you. It's a hoot.

The mornings are fine because I go so early there is no traffic. I plan to use the scooter through the winter, ride to work and fold it up to take the bus home. There is no transit when I go to work, it's an hour walk or a $22 cab ride so the scooter will pay for itself in what I'll save. There are only a few days each winter I wouldn't be able to ride it, basically just snow storms.

That'll get you plenty of horsepower and you can whoop many cars on the street. When you buy it ask the seller to have holes pre-drilled so you can mount a seat... You can then later hook up a trailer to the seatpost of your scooter to haul big and heavy stuff. This almost totally eliminates the need for cars and you'll save $$$ for not paying gas and insurance.
