Have you considered doing a deep dive into the phantom menace? I know you're making it for the casual fan like a mom making up her kids lunches and says hey its only 11 hours long so far so ill give it a quick listen. But real, discerning fans expect more
I'd honestly love to see Bread Circus touch on the Phantom Menace.
Too bad Mr. Bread circus only makes content about the current Disney canon
The hype I feel for every retrospective reminds me of the way star wars hype felt before the J.J. era.
Damn... part 46 is going to disappoint and it will crush us.
The one post-JJ product I still have hype for is Andor Season 2
@@matthewjohnson2428same
Its a shame that Andor is part of Disney Wars. Ngl, they are good but missing something and I dont know what that is...
Damn, I remember how the TFA trailer made me feel. Until the poster came out and featured a death star looking planet, I was totally on board. That was the first sign it was going to be a soft reboot of ANH.
Wow, that was brief…
_I look forward to the conclusion of this epic!_
Never really thought about it before but if the red energy doors are a security feature to contain any _spontaneous energy surplus_ events in the power plant, it kinda makes sense that they're acting up even just over a light saber fight in the facility? Two or four continuously-recirculating energy fields swinging and clashing against each other (does the lightsaber emit energy when it stops against another in midair, or only when it cuts something "real"?) probably sets off all sorts of warning lights in whatever control room or sensor hub droid brain they have running the thing.
Makes less sense that they keep opening up again but I guess I just have to imagine some poor grunt at a control panel whose entire job and life is repeatedly throwing the "false alarm" switch to keep opening up an over-sensitive safety door.
I'd imagine the whole thing is set up to go off at the slightest hint of Plasma/energy to be Safe, then shut off again if readings don't continue in a pattern coresponding to an expected plasma leak or whatever to reduce operating time of the gates as much as is justifiably Safe.
This idea is outstanding. We discussed the matter with the discord regulars today, after the video released. Over the course of a long voice call, ED-1TA convinced us that is how how the doors are triggered. The lightsabres need to be shut down before the doors will open again. -DZ
Wow! Never thought about it that way… but that would certainly explain why they seem to turn their lightsabers off every time before the door opens again!
So this is how this retrospective ends...with thunderous applause
Palpatine must've had some amount of involvement with the plasma power station on Naboo and was clearly impressed by it. Its artistic design is nigh indistinguishable from later Empirical flair. The fervent love of shiny black surfaces is only outdone by the total disdain for worker safety.
Another fantastic video! Never realised just how much spinning went on in this duel. Always tried to avoid spinning when playing lightsabers as a child- it was just asking to get your legs pretend chopped off 😂
I finally cracked and Shazammed the song. Arlekino, originally by Alla Pugecheva. It’s cool.
Hey, you sha-zaved me a Shazam search, so thanks!
I feel like the same way Jedi turn off their sabers for jumps and falls they would likely have ritualistic or practiced reasons for turning off their sabers when in relative safety. They are meant to be peace keepers after all, its a good show for your wizard space police force to deactivate their weapons whenever possible.
The position Qui-Gon Jinn takes is also likely inspired by Seiza, a Japanese meditative practice performed before multiple types of martial arts created by the jedi’s number one real world influence the samurai.
It could be a discipline thing. It could also be a "don't accidentally chop your own legs off when you fall off a ledge" thing. Maul in particular had a close call with his saber when he was kicked off the platform by Qui-Gon.
That's Maul, folks!
I guess this is the closest he has been yet to mentioning the clone wars tv series... yet the only hint we get is the mention of a "sith cyborg" without going into specifics. I wonder how long he can keep this up....
We can and will keep this up forever. It's one of our trademarked 'we only cover Star Wars lore' things. -ED-1TA
I feel like Star Wars lore is a very loose term at this point with the amount of different canons there are now
@@desmond9945 I fail to see how books can be included, as well as modern Disney movies, heck even video games are included. but an animated tv show falls outside "star wars lore" and thus should never even be referenced.
Like what is the common denominator between these that precisely excludes the clone wars animated stuff, but includes everything mentioned in a bread circus video ever???
The animated stuff was even the only non main movie thing that is considered main canon both pre- and intra-Disney.
Heck even before Disney, Star Wars the Clone Wars was considered by George Lucas and Lucasfilm as the highest ranking authority on canon just like the 6 main movies.
Mauls return aired half a year before Disney bought Lucasfilm. And is thus considered as canon as anything in the main movies. It's not among the things that are arguable to be canon.
The only one I can think of is a subjective, "it's only star wars lore if the bread circus likes it"
I think it’s stuff from the nineties and 2000s
@@desmond9945but he talks about modern Disney stuff to, albeit with critism. But he doesn't even want to mention clone wars, not even in a negative way.
Thank you for these. Your hard work is prevalent. Much appreciated. Which excites me to ask:Forgive the timing but don’t
know if ill get another chance.-will you be doing star trek the motion picture?
First of all, we're grateful for the support and feedback. We'll certainly never stop making Star Trek references in these videos. We could imagine doing an analysis of various details from Trek, as well as branching out to other settings: Alien, Babylon 5, Mass Effect, Farscape, etc. I don't have as much expertise in those universes as Star Wars, but the Bread Circus style should still be effective. Star Trek is one of the top choices, and if we did there's a good chance we'd start with the first movie.
We'd like to be able to make a series of unrelated videos, and we probably will if and when the channel becomes fully sustainable. Once we know a standalone video will do well, we can safely branch out. For the near future, we need to work toward the next compilation video. That also means sticking to Star Wars for all our long-running movie analysis series, for the foreseeable future. You might see a video on Star Trek ships and technology in the next year, but we can't make any promises. -DZ
This whole series has been amazing, as always! Attack of the Clones is my personal favorite, really excited to see the deep dive on it! Proud to be a supporter of y'all, keep up the fantastic work!
How to make my day better with one simple trick: Bread Circus video.
43:01 SWTOR giving Jedi a meditate as their out of combat heal and mana regen was nice, Sith getting *Seethe* and pacing like Maul was perfection. So effectively Maul IS doing the same thing as Qui-Gon. He's psyching himself up the Darkside way.
Well, SWTOR probably took it from this movie and turned them into force powers. I prefer to think Qui Gon was just mentally preparing for round 2, and Maul was just irritated at the delay.
@histguy101 Every class has an ability that works like eating and drinking between fights in WoW, it was pretty much perfect that they chose the animations bast on PM
There’s nothing more humbling than seeing an hour-long video in your feed titled “A Brief Retrospective... (Part 11)”
Certainly my second favorite lightsabre duel in all of star wars
“His story ends here…”
Clone wars: “Are you sure about that?”
And Obi's and Mauls final fight in Rebels was perfection.
Quite sure :)
@@TheRyujinLP simple and nice. Also like the detail added where Obi Wan lies and says Luke is the chosen one. Something to give peace to a man who doesn’t fully deserve it shows Obi Wans growth
Maul coming back should never have happened even though he is far and away the most interesting antagonist in TCW.
@@jeremyjuggler2677 Not saying much given the quality of antagonists in TCW :p
As a kid, I never questioned what the red barriers were because there were identical ones in Dark Forces: Jedi Knight. I had quite a few instances of Kyle running head on into them going "ungh ungh ungh" while my health dropped and sparks flew everywhere
Been watching since "from his nap", love this series, and all your in-depth Star Wars analytics, with you till the end!
One of, if not the best fight break down I have seen! Can’t wait for more.
The long awaited day has come at last. Just a few more hours...
Oh boy! Next Episode?! I cannot wait for you to dissect my favorite star wars :)
I've never been good at ranking them, but I usually think of AotC as my favourite SW movie as well. There's a lot to love about it, but by golly there are some questionable moments as well. Episode 2 is the series I've really been looking forward to the most, even more than the eventual original trilogy dissection. -DZ
This has to be the best analysis series I've seen of any movie or franchise. Are there plans to give the same treatment to AotC? Or the Clone Wars multi-media project which has some of the best EU media to date.
Fantastic analysis as always. Can’t wait to see more going forward and I’ll definitely be checking out the compilation whenever that drops too
You all are doing the Force’s work
And so ends the greatest TPM retrospective in the history of CZcams.
On the topic of spinning, and whether or not it is a good trick, it appears to me that there are 2 potential explanations for why it keeps happening. First, it's just a way for the actors to give each other a few extra moments to get into position for the next step in their choreography while giving the audience the illusion of movement, and therefore progress and intention. The more fun explanation is that the spins could have occurred because of the Jedi and Sith's ability to see briefly into the future and predict their opponent's next move, maybe as some kind of distraction tactic, or a way to re-center themselves in the fight when they know it's safe to do so, kind of like Maul's lightsaber twirls.
Yes, but when I saw it here in slow motion, it looks to me like they are swinging a bat and putting their whole body in to the strike for more power.
Bravo! I absolutely loved every moment of this experience. It was the first time I’ve been able to catch each episode as they came out and my intention was to have it on in the background while I was working but I quickly realized that it had to be watched carefully 😂
The dry delivery and detail to details is exactly what my brain needs and sucked it up like a sponge. After you are done with the prequels you should follow the journey of Maul as it ends on one of my favorite Star Wars moments.
I would be interested in how Maul's duel on Tatooine would be analyzed if we consider instead the concept of him using both blades of his saber and if that would make the random spins he does make more sense there.
Another great vid, ready to see it all come together
"Nooooooooooo" this can't be the last episode in this series 😭 We need at least one more, to wrap things up. An Epilogue, yes, yes one more episode you will make 😁👍
Don't worry, that's what the compilation is going to be. Everything + about 1.5 hours extra.
You guys are the best. Your restropective are so detailed that you need break to parts that probably above 15 parts for PM. Almost no one have detailed retrospectives as you guys did.
Also your restropectives is fair that show the charm and the flaw of Phantom Menace. Unlike some channel who made restropectives just to shit talk prequel being have bad dialogue while sequel way worse
Again my highlight of the week! Thank you!
I have to ask - will Attack of the Clones be in for the same brief retrospective treatment?a mere 12 parter?
Hehe, I’ll expect a line during the ROTS retrospective to the effect of, “Anakin’s lobbying for the rank of Master is purely symbolic, since he would have had no time to have trained an apprentice.” 😆Not that I can make accusations of Feloni shade, since these were also GL decisions.
After watching endless starwars content I didn’t think anyone could continue to keep it interesting. You sir have succeeded

And one for Jenny and the Wimp.
"Take That! Taste The Pain! Take That! T a s t e t h e p a i n" - qui-gon jinn: renegade angel
Oh Qui-Gon. The gravy train known as fate had to take you out. If fate had it our way, you'd be alive and the universe, Jedi Council, and Republic would have looked vastly different by the start of what would have been the Battle of Yavin IV. Sadly, much like our universe, a balance must be in place.
Obi-Wan didn't feint at Maul, he was blocked by a telekinetic attack from Maul, with a sound effect to help indicate that's what happened.
When Qui-Gon punches Maul you can hear the same "They used the force" sound effect to indicate it was a telikinetically powered punch. That is also the reason used in the novelization to explain why Maul's 3rd kick didn't connect with obi wan on screen.
Which move are you referring to? Maybe provide a timestamp?
@@Sir_TophamHattshortly after the combatants enter the refinery maul is backed up to an edge. He does a backflip to the main walkway and obi wan and qui-gon follow him. After a brief stand off obi wan and qui gon lunge at maul but obi wan acts as if he is suddenly knocked back.
@@brandonguffey5959 I think you mean the move obi-wan does immediately *before* maul backflips onto the walkway? If that is what you’re referring to, the only sound effect i hear is obi-wan making a sort of groaning noise. I do agree with you in the second instance when qui-gon punches maul, since i hear the sound effect there. But unless I’m missing something, i don’t hear it in the first case. I always thought obi-wan feints in an attempt to distract maul from qui-gons strike.
@@Sir_TophamHatt that noise obi wan makes is him grunting because he was hit by the force.
Truly excellent.
Mauls speeder abruptly dropping like a fucking rock will never not be the goofiest thing ever to me, like deadass you can hear a faint whistle while it's plummeting. Loony tunes type shit.
"Remember to actually like the video, You're bad with that type of thing." - some nerd
while it wasn't covered in this video, I wish the movie ended with Qui-Gon's funeral, instead of the parade ceremony. Windu and Yoda discussing the Sith and wondering who and where the other Sith is, and then the camera pans ominously to Palpatine, a final hint to any first time viewer that hasn't caught on yet, and foreshadowing what is to come.
every time I am surprised and enjoy the song on the intro. Why am I surprised? This is Alla Pugacheva, it's unexpected to hear her in the video in English, and the metal arrangement is just beautiful
I'm curious at how Lt. Dan's legs got ahold of Lt. Dan's wallet and signed up to patren without Lt. Dan's head being involved.
Oh yes
wont be long now lol
An hour? One entire hour? 60 whole minutes of Bread Circus!? Oh boy, I cant wait!
The choice of words regarding Maul's loss is clearly a jab at the CGI Clone Wars series however I'm not sure if it's meant to be "it's a bit ridiculous that he survived" or "he should not have come back at all"
It's either a joke about how Maul somehow didn't die here or it's a complaint about a pretty big retcon, would help if I knew whether or not you guys liked how Maul was handled in the show.
Anyways, fantastic breakdown! Was as amazing as I was expecting based on the previous episodes, I am a little surprised that this is the end besides the upcoming All-in-One video. Figured you'd quickly cover the remaining few minutes even if just pointing out the obvious stuff, just felt weird starting with the Opening Crawl & then not ending with the Credits. Maybe that'll be in the combo video?
Not sure if I'll watch the combo video, guess it depends on how much new stuff is in it, and if it'll be specified with the chapters (like if it's whole new sections)
Regardless, I absolutely loved this retrospective. As a Prequels Kids, it felt very validating to learn that most of this movie did in fact fit within the established lore since for years people complained about it not being like the Original Trilogy. Unsure if the same will be said about the other two films but I will be eagerly waiting for those Retrospectives!
As much as I like what they did with Maul after TPM in the TV series, the movie makes it pretty clear that he's dead, and of all the things for your recently-bisected torso to fall into, a miles-deep "melting pit" has got to be one of the worst.
@@FriendlyDarkwraith And yet, somehow Palpatine has returned lol 🤣🤣🤣
Please Mr. Bread circus keep all these videos up when you make your definitive edition. I've seen every one of these videos at least 3-4 times and everytime I look at the veiws I cant believe my eyes, they have surpassed Mr. Plinkett as the definitive lengthy star wars content, and it would break my heart if you pulled a George Lucas and special editioned this beloved series that saw me through my last summer at home, and kept me coming back every day my first semester of college
Have no fear, we won't try to replace the classic versions with our special edition. As with the first series on TROS, the original videos will stay up for the foreseeable future. Just like George Lucas, we hope you'll prefer the new and updated version... but if not, that's understandable too. -DZ
Can’t wait until the next ATOC retrospective
Your retrospective on this is amazing
17:45 "the spin of gin" is also why i have a DWI on my record
oh so that's why you can kick with a double light saber in jedi academy
this was an amazing series, especially on my opinion the lightsaber figjt breakdowns, and extremely well researched
Thank you, it means a lot to hear that. Both of the duels stand out as the trickiest parts to make: going frame by frame wasn't as necessary for the rest of the movie. -DZ
i think this depth of analysis does help to bring attention to some parts of film production that are often overlooked in most online criticism, things like good choreography and character motivations within stunts are incredibly important for action films, but so often overlooked beyond "this fight looked good" or "this wasn't" but even subconsciously you notice it watching
I would like to see your comments on the Sith's rule of two. Was there ever any lore on how the the sith were organized in the OT?
I just now picked up the sarcasm of the word "Brief" in the title of these videos. It's confirmed gentlemen and gentlemen. I'm autistic.
I don’t think that Darth Maul should have been brought back, it doesn’t really make sense. However, I do think it was done in the best way possible. His character in The Clone Wars was badass and the purpose he served was excellently written. His use of Mandalore as a tool against the Jedi, and his manipulation of the Mandalorian extremists was perfect. The dynamic between him and Ahsoka was also soooo good, reminiscent of him and Obi-Wan.
I missed the premier I’m sorry! Great video, I did not realized that Maul did that many kicks! It’s so many
VERY GOOD can’t wait for the full thing!!! Also hyped as hell for the analysis of the next movie‼️
you make these movies look as if they would be good
welp just finished all your videos. Cant wait for you to do more. Maybe cover 4-6 since you have sucha love for them.
1:05:02 unless it has an emergency tractor safety net! Then you can make a Maw from him.+
The way you slowed down the fight, I saw more than a few openings where Maul's saber could've been cut in twain.
Thanks!!!!!❤
''Will this never end?"
R.I.P. Clone Wars Maul getting cut in half worse than Episode 1 Maul by this script.
Love these videos.
This fight had me feeling like I watched something pretty darn cool when I left the theater.
There's a physics experiment called Lord Kalvin's Thunderstorm or more simply water drop experiment. The power station looks like it could be a theatrical representation of that. In reality it can generate some high voltage sparks. Take that a little further, with those enormous drops maybe the water molecules become disassociated into plasma.
I'd like to interpret the strange and flamboyant lightsaber techniques like spinning or backward blocks as a result of force users fighting on the plane of the force
Since they have such super human reflexes they're constantly cycling thru possibilities during a fight and can move their bodies in unnatural patterns that would not make sense for regular people
Almost like following the flow of an unseen Force™ ;)
Nice job, but missed a few things I consider to be quite important for a detailed analysis like this. Not criticizing your video so much as me wanting to get this off my chest because no one else seems to notice. Would love some discussion on these points too.
1. Qui-gon and Maul make it to the second-to-last 'compartment' in the final part with the sequential 'energy doorways'. Obi-wan does a full sprint and only makes it an extra 8-10 feet at most by making it to the last compartment when his opportunity is open to run. Qui-gon and Maul were NOT going at a full sprint and made it nearly as far as Obi-Wan did at full sprint. This is an oversight on timing, unless they are just done at randomized intervals, but did not seem that way as presented. Don't even get me started on why he didn't do force pull, push, or force sprint for that matter to assist. The hand wave of 'he's a padawan' isn't enough for me.
2. Why does Obi-Wan not utilize force moves through the laser wall? Create a distraction, help his master. The dependence solely on tech for defense (i.e. lightsabers) and not utilization of the force irked me a bit in this scene.
3. You didn't really touch on it, but it's confusing why Maul doesn't strike at Obi-wan when he is literally flying over him for a second or two after dangling on the emergency light. His lightsaber is even on here. Yes it might have thrown him off, but there's no context to why Maul has the confused face, and what else might be going on. Seems an oversight and there are possible explanations but all involve the force.
4. If all 20 of the guards shot at Maul in the beginning, I don't know if he would have been able to handle the entire team of 20 + 2 Jedi. There would have been losses, but it was a poor strategic decision from Qui-Gon given the team's desire to take the shortest path with many lives on the line. I don't consider this important and I'm fine with the writing but it would have been interesting to see nonetheless, or have a throwaway line of why it couldn't have happened.
5. The fight is fine from a technical perspective in Maul's case. I believe Ray Park had a significant role in the choreography of this whole fight sequence and did a good job of training the actors on their given roles, but to me, being completely honest, it looks like Ray Park mostly focused on himself being busy and not the other Jedi. The twirling is a fine way to slow down the strikes, but it just doesn't make sense given the weapons being utilized. You touched on this a bit, but it is a blade that does not have weight, at least in this trilogy, but is devastating at any speed. It doesn't require a wind up, and the spinning just doesn't make sense from a training perspective. Quicker strikes, blade throws, force moves, and other situations to have the double blade more useful would have been better to see. I would have expected to see more damage, small injuries, etc, like you mentioned.
Sorry for the rant and many details, but this fight sequence is an important part of my childhood and I had many positives and negatives with this fight.
Nothing like “the power of foot”🦶 to disable a sith apprentice
The forbidden move only used by a grey Jedi 😅
What are your speculations on what would happen if Master Qui Gon had trained the boy?
I was surprised when maul came back in tcw, but at least maul makes more sense than palpatine coming back.
i always thought the red laser door thingos are just some kind of plasma machinery, and its not so much a corridor as a sort of big long conduit for doing whatever the 'doors' do. to my mind, that's why there's a thingy on each side, one is an emitter and the other is a receiver. and that's just how movies usually are, you have a fight inside the works of a big clock or a factory with a big choppy thing, not a _get smart_ hallway of security doors that open and close for no reason.
Bingo! I think you have the best response.Thank you. This is THE answer people . Hit the nail on the head. And yet so obvious if you’re a movie watcher. We knew this. Somehow we’ve always known this .
Interesting, so the red doors are industrial machinery themselves, instead of a safety or security feature. It's quite intriguing, I've never heard someone suggest that before. Not sure what the purpose would be, but that's already the case with any interpretation of the laser door. We just don't know enough about the plasma power station to give a definitive answer.
On an unrelated note, I particularly appreciate that Get Smart reference. For the compilation, we may have to add a clip of the hallway when the door closes on Obi-Wan's nose. I hope we can find room for it. -DZ
Please do attack of the clones and revenge of the sith!
PARROT!!(:
I was wondering, since ray shields block energy bolts, how do starships and droidikas pass their own bolts through them? Do the shields work in one direction at a time? I may have just missed that detail.
A good question. As far as we can tell, ray shields seem to be one-way. In the New Essential Guide to Droids, and the later Expanded Episode 1 Visual Dictionary, it mentions droideka shields are "polarised". I'd have to conclude this is a very normal feature, because otherwise Star Destroyers would need to raise and lower their ray shields for every turret that needs to fire.
We get a counter-example on Hoth, where the ion cannon was only fired in the moments while the shields were down. This seems to be standard practice for firing weapons through planetary shields, which clearly protect against ray and particle bombardment. Speaking of particle shields, we know those take the opposite approach: in order to fire torpedoes, a ship has to drop its particle shields. The same goes for any other physical weapon, or for any smaller craft to launch or land in its hangars. -DZ
Many Algo's died to bring us this information...
From watching alm those deep dives, i have conclueded that you should watch clone wars, many themes you talk about are explored there, while it Is Kid oriented show it is still part of both EU and disney canon
57:52: yeah, right?
32:11 So this is NOT the saber melting through the door?
It's hard to watch greatest saber duel of the prequels in slowmotion, seeing all those openings and chances to end it in first scene. :
That’s not how dueling works when the duelists are force users. It’s a moving, dynamic style of fighting with feints and parry’s, just holding still and waiting for a slight opening to deal a sudden death blow is never how it’s worked in star wars.
Also the matter of... you know... a fight ended in "guy one twirls, guy two blankly stabs guy one, guy one takes the L and also dies I guess" isn't good movie viewing or story telling. Be kinda like if the Eagles flew the One Ring to Mordor.
I really hate that the final blow comes down to Darth just standing there staring with no attempt to do anything whatsoever.
A very large issue for me as well. Even an insight to his confusion prior to Obi-Wan's jump that maybe debilitated him would have been nice to see.
Going to do a Retrospective on the other Two Films?
GOD DAMNIT skipping the FUCKING INTRO MUSIC is fucking KILLING ME
Edit - Video starts at 2:10, but I was trying to get past the music as it looped over again and kept overshooting the start of the narrative as I scrolled back and forth. I think I am used to the CZcams app on Android though.
I suppose it's too late now, but the video description has timestamps for this reason. There's also be a "chapters" feature: if you click the chapter title in the bottom left, it will bring up a list of video sections and let you skip directly to them. @@thebreadcircus What a shame, I thought as much.....
Amazing series anyway!!!!
For the Kakapooooooo
I think it was mentioned in the official "making of EP 1" video that the prop creators made a bunch of saber designs, and Ewan picked this one we see in the movie. Assuming that I'm not imagining this, your explanation of the saber design is a bit unfounded. It's more like retroactive writing than intentional planning.
If you end up finding a reference for that, I'm sure everyone will be excited to take a look at the alternatives to Obi-Wan's sabre hilt. However, I'm not sure what you're suggesting was unplanned. Every lightsabre in the original trilogy was unique, but all of them fell into two families: Anakin-like and Kenobi-like. Was that part unplanned?
It seems unlikely for the prequels to have forgotten that sabre hilts are important. It was well known in 1999 that when a Jedi builds a new sabre, he will base the hilt on lightsabres that are significant to him. It's no accident when Young Obi-Wan is given a prop reminiscent of Old Ben Kenobi's sabre design.
It doesn't seem plausible that the design process was "Ewan, grab the first one that catches your eye from that pile of assorted hilts". Assuming the actors have any influence at all, they won't be given a wide range of generic lightsabres. As the final step of character design, Ewan may have been allowed to pick the final option from a few candidates. He won't have access to the hilts designed for Yoda, or Qui-Gon, or Maul. -DZ
@@thebreadcircus czcams.com/video/da8s9m4zEpo/video.html here. 6 options in total, including Obi-Wan's and Qui-Gon's, and I think Windu's original is here too (he got that gold plated one in EP2). They do resemble the Obi-Wan/Luke designs from the OT.
Why did Obi Wan not use his force dash to beat the energy walls?
Personally I’d presume he’s in such a rush that he never takes a moment to think. Force dash is probably not an instinctual reaction.
He used all his MP doing the Force Jump
We don’t know how draining it is to use various force powers such as force speed. Perhaps he feels he has to preserve his “force stamina” in order to keep up the fight.
I think he did, or at least tried to. When we saw Force Dash used against the destroyer droids at the beginning of the film, he was with Qui-Gon. It could be some kind of Force technique that normally requires 2 users, since it's a sustained increase of movement unlike the classic Force Jump. That'd explain why we never see it used in any of the other movies.
Officially, I'm not sure that's ever been addressed. There's certainly some merit to the idea of "Force mana", that you can't lift rocks forever without effort. Using the Force is tiring to some degree, so everyone is being stingy and refusing to expend his mana pool. Personally, I think it comes down to the time horizon.
When they're approaching the doors, Obi-Wan hasn't sensed his master's impending death. At least in its combat form, Jedi reflexes can only show you a few seconds into the future. We get a good sense of how far off the time horizon is: each time the doors open, everyone reacts about one second early. That means Obi-Wan can't see the doors closing until after he's en route.
He was willing to take an extra two seconds of running, rather than waste energy on a Force Sprint. By the time he senses the doors are about to close again, it's too late to speed up. We should keep in mind that there's a bottomless pit straight ahead. You'd want to be careful about flinging yourself in that direction. -DZ

Where did part 10 go?
We erased it due to a copyright claim. It was either erase it, or let the little thief steal our ad revenue. We chose war. We might put it up again soon. For now, please watch the 12 hour TPM video. It contains all of Part 10. -ED-1TA

@@MajorWilliams3 who?
Since you use Star Wars lore from the 90s and 2000s does that mean Kyle Katarn stole the Death Star plans?
Definitely, Kyle Katarn and Dash Rendar turn up in some of our reference books in the pre-prequel era. Katarn doesn't get a character profile until the New Essential Guide to Characters, which was made after AotC. However, he's mentioned prominently in the Dark Trooper section of the pre-TPM Essential Guide to Droids. -DZ
