  • This video describes how a gemstone is cut and polished in the faceted style. My name is brent and im a cutter in the United states of America.
Im cutting a synthetic gem material called cubic zirconia in this video. I started cutting this gemstone in july but had to delay finishing it until just this week as i had to move my entire operation to a different location and im still getting up to speed here in my new cutting room.
The design i chose for the gem is a triangle shape called the trilling by designer /faceter andrew brown. His website is www.facetingdesigns .com. There are a few free designs there.
Here are some other faceting design websites i use.

The gemcutting machine i use and recommend is an ultra tec faceting machine. there website is here: www.ultratec-facet.com.
For many other gemcutting and mining videos , look at my youtube main page and click playlists.

Great video, much informative content - thank you. I like the longer more in depth videos tho i'm sure they are harder to make. The stone turned out beautiful! I love the cut. I am a real fan of cubic zirconia but I have noticed it is getting very hard to find for sale in certain colors here in the states, clear, greens, etc.

Thanks jess, yes ive been lazy lately with making the longer videos , i completed a competition stone this summer and those always take up my spare time. I guess about the only place to get cz is from china or india/pakistan nowdays.

Wow! Lots of fire on the turntable. Very nicely done, Brent. Eleven carats right on the button... How'd you do that? LOL
Unfortunately, I somehow lost the sound in the latter part of the video.

Thank you john, i did have problems getting this video together , the audio did give me a fit as i partially did a narration after the video was shot and the latter part was narrated as i did the cutting and turned out more muted, sorry. A poor editing job on my part.

I would love to send you a few pink diamonds from South Africa. What would you charge for a 5ct pink VVS vivid D colour diamond.???

Hi, because diamonds are so hard , my equiptment cant handle cutting them. I have never tried to cut one. Many special techniques are needed for diamonds.
