Great tutorial, I am learning about this.
I believe the 96 degrees you mentioned are not degrees but fractions of a complete revolution.
Thank you so much for all your videos. Well I am going to try this one tomorrow. I believe that I know enough about the machine now. The biggest part is that I am not scared of it no more. I got me a bigger stick than it has. I hope I do good on it but in case I screw up I have a bunch of material and stuff. Thank you for your teachings
Let us all know how your first stone turned out.

You are welcome, however, I learned all the tips from other cutters who shared. I am just sharing what was shared with me.
Couldn’t find the diagram for this. Can you help?
No music or cell phones in class!!!! No background music!
Thanks for the feedback. I'll see what I can do.
Very Nice video.

Keeps me motivated to continue faceting every time I watch one of your videos. Having a lot of frustration trying to come to a polish on a couple of stones, but perseverance is key.

Much help is appreciated . Thank you !🙏🏻
Yes there are schools and there are instructors who travel, and there are gem cutting clubs who give training. Just contact me, Mike Sackos, on Facebook and I will get you in contact with someone.
What are some tips on acquiring material to cut? Been struggling to find places to buy rough gems
If you go to the United States Faceters Guild (USFG) website you can find their newsletter. At the last page or two of the newsletter they list a number of reputable gem rough dealers. But, you will still have to learn to evaluate the rough for shape, clarity and color...at least you will be with a reputable dealer. Good luck.
cutting the stone is not such a problem but finding good rough material is more a problem for me because we dont have finding places in Belgium
Đà dept 👍👍👍💯
Thanks
do you find it cheaper to buy one of the large amethyst clusters and then break it down yourself., or do you buy them one by one.,?.,? ';'
I have often wondered about buying an amethyst geode and breaking the 'teeth' out of it...but have never tried it. I prefer to buy rough one-by-one, but sometimes I do have to buy lots...it depends on the rough dealer and the material.
I have always wondered why is Americans refuse to fallow the rest of the world and cut the table first. It seams like the more logical way as that’s the viewing face. Then when dobing you u
Just transfer with superglue to a flat dob stick as you have a very nice flat surface to square up to.
You can cut the Crown first or you can cut the Pavilion first, as you like. There is no rule and it is incorrect to assume all 'American' cutters do it one way and 'the entire rest of the world' does it another way. I prefer to normally cut the pavilion first, but there are some designs and some rough for which it made more sense to cut the crown first. Normally, I cut/polish the table last, but there are some designs where I have cut and polished the table and then gone back and polished the rest of the crown. Here is the absolute rule in gem cutting: There is NO rule!
