  • On Dec 4, 2023 I hiked to Mina Sauk falls and Devil's Tollgate from Taum Sauk Mountain, the highest point in Missouri. Took a little tumble and injured both hands but made it with good memories! Come along and I hope you enjoy!

Another good video. We took a day trip over there from Eminence but spent too much time at Elephant Rocks and Johnson Shutins to get to see this trail.

It's nice but jsi and elephant rocks are better choices. This one needs some recent rains to get the falls flowing.

Hi Randy. Nice video! I enjoyed watching and learning about this trail. I’ve never been to this area of the country so it’s nice learning about a new place. The water features were nice, but probably best after a nice rainfall. That tumble did quite a job on your hands. I just stumbled across your channel while searching for interesting hikes. I do lots of hiking and posting on CZcams myself. I looked through your channel, and I see you post lots of hikes and adventure videos. Right up my alley. I just followed your channel! It looks like I’m your 209th subscriber! Woohoo!!! I look forward to staying connected.

thanks for the sub! I returned the favor on your channel and I look forward to checking your videos out. Thanks for the nice comments. The ozarks are awesome, I have some more ozarks hikes coming out next week and then again later in the spring.

@@OldGuyHikes Cool. For all the hiking I've done, I haven't been to the ozarks yet. Its on my list of places to go for sure. I'll keep an eye out for your upcoming videos. Thanks for the sub! That was very kind.

The ozark trail is 430 miles. This section is 34 miles.

Randy - I teach wilderness survival, hiking, camping and backpacking. - Rule 1, Never Hike Alone. 99% of all injured, lost or even permanently passed hikers over 100 years....Hiked Alone and unprepared. When I see hikers hiking alone, I ask them who their next of kin is and did they leave that detail with the rangers.

great advice, even though I do hike alone a lot, I always leave my plan with my wife, I check in with her regularly, and I carry a garmin in-reach, not as good as hiking with someone, but better than nothing. I wish I had regular hiking companions!

Also, not to be a killjoy, these “Indian Trail Trees” are not nearly old enough to have been manipulated by Indians. I’m a forester and these trees are shaped the way they are by natural occurrences such as wind and other trees falling on them.if you bore this tree you will find it’s not nearly as old as you think. Otherwise, a nice video.

He mispronounced the name of Mina Sauk Falls.

What is the correct pronunciation? I'm always up for learning.
