The DPOY award to Gobert was, in my opinion, more an award to his position not his ability or any skill, which turns out to be limited to standing at 7’ plus and in the right situations to benefit from it.
All Nick Nurse teams can play each player who are Switchable to multiple positions on the floor ! Embiid was playing at MVP level during the season before his injury. Embiid played the last playoff at 65% with his leg and eye injury and still made contributions.He has never had a adequate support except for Jimmy Butler in 2019. The Sixers Mgmt Org. has failed him many times in getting the right players around him. ( Simmons, Fultz, Harden, etc. ) . Embiid has not been 100% in any playoff seasons due to an injury.
I agree with Dominique’s sentiment about Embiid. His ppg drops in the playoffs and he’s always hurt. He also shouldn’t be shooting as many jumpers as he does and go make his bones in the post a little more often…his game does not have balance which likely could be a factor regarding the early exits in the playoffs

Mel, how can you call the criticism of Joel Embiid a false narrative by the panel? In 10 years, Joel Embiid has won 5 total playoff series. He is the only MVP in NBA history who has yet to make it to the conference finals.
