Broke my favorite rod and can't find another one like it anywhere but now I know there's still hope of saving it
My Shimano 6' poleethylene foam handled replacement, even with the same reel, just never left the garage with me happy seeing it's only slightly older cork handled medium action counterpart with his ghastly electronic SUV hatch injuries. I watched the second time today, and now I've even found some fusion multi urpose aint and not only restored my original but gave the replacement a trendy astel look! All thanks to you, sincerely.
I’ve bin looking for this video for ever thank god
I’ve fixed rods this same way and of course they are not the same but but it works and they last a long time , good video
Right on thanks for the vid.
Was not what I had in mind, nor is where mine broke but now I'll know how to fix it there
In the last 20 year's or so I've done this and the rods are going strong without a problem
Mmmmm ,, question is,, from where i found rod piece that will fitt!!!
Well, have to say this is genius 💡!
Fantastic. So many rods can be saved
That’s awesome dude thanks from Boston
Nice master for the tutorial new friend watching from zambales philippines
Thank you, you've saved my 2 broken rods ordered through ebay. Never again!
Thanks for the video, I have the same problem
Cheers Adam I snapped my rod last year still in shed will do this cheers buddy
Im gonna try this ..thanks
Nice alternative method to others that I've seen. I will save the video for my consumption later as I do have rods I need to repair. I did find however that the background music is distracting. DIY fix for that is I'll turn down the volume and watch your repair method.
Always wrap the blank in masking tape where you plan to cut to minimize splintering of the carbon fibers
Thank you
Wrap thread three inches, half over each end. Paint with clear nail polish.
I fixed a black rod and put some black wire shrink wrap over the spot so it wasn't as noticeable with the colored nylon line I had
I don't have thread, what I do have is dental floss and artificial sinew…will either work as a replacement for thread?
Maybe put some whipping around the outside of the repair aswell just as reinforcement
where do you get that blank? nice video!
Just remove the splintered section. Seal the end with epoxy. Sand about an inch and half section till it fits in. Lightly coat with thin CA glue to seal the open fiber, wipe off with paper. It's good to go.
I found my dads old rod that's broken just above reel seat but it's already got like a old bit of rod in it or it might be built like that
this vidio are made perfect educatede however, the back ground sound is to loud.
I have a fishing rod that could be separated into two pieces. The top part snapped in half so I threw it out but the bottom is still fine. Where can i find a replacement for the top part?
Ebay possibly
I find many broken rods at thrift stores and yard sales. If you can find a repair shop many times they will give you parts of broken rods for free. At least in my area they will.
You should have saved the bit you threw out, it could have been fixed. You may aswell buy a new rod to replace it. You've probably got a better chance of finding a second hand key to fit your front door than you have of finding the other half of the rod you've got.
What kind of glue is it
I use epoxy and if I want to get fancy wrap and glue over the joint.
Brilliant
Does this work on graphite rods?
This was a graphite rod.
What about one piece rods that don’t come apart?
Will it work on fly rod
Can't see why not 🖒
How do ya get the end of the rod off at the base?
That's what I was wondering too..
Anyone know???
I’m with you guys.
Maybe used a heat gun to soften glue then twist off end?
Lighter
Good video mate ,but not for me .Rod would never perform as it should .
Less Mach 2 casting combo snapped in half for no reason
I just snapped a 150 dollar rod thank you
Bottom side of repair needs whipping.
A saw mark in the new splice ......that weak already...... nah
That's what I thought. Better off marking it with a Sharpie or something.
Vídeo bom porém se enrolação porém se não descansar a massa é pré assar é jogar dinheiro fora ou comer massa dura ou crua não recomendo fazer dessa forma
Its not as strong as a new rod but will do the Job ? Sorry fella but if you are going to do a job do it right . Use Epoxy glue and bind the ends it will be stronger than a new rod !
Not recommended, it puts a horrible flat spot in the rod
@Quirin M. Not if it affects the casting and the playing action it's not.
