    Hi Matt....welcome to Thailand...I'm jealous....you'll have a great time apart from the dogs. I cycled quite a bit in Thailand and was chased every day by dogs.....I bought a Dazer II ultrasonic device which 90% worked on dogs.....recommend it highly....from Amazon
    Regards Koh Chang...its probably too late now but there are some gorgeous islands nearby as well. My other favourite islands in Thailand are Similian for diving / snorkeling., Koh Phayam (near Myanmar) fir relaxation, Koh Samet, Koh Jum, Koh Ngai....amongst others. Also if you follow the coast around the gulf of Thailand from Phetchiburi to Chumpon (Ferry to Koh Toa) there are some lovely places on the coast like Prachup Khiri Khan/ Ao Manao, Ban Krut, and Hin Hin but avoid highway 4 as much as possible.....its not fun to cycle on! In addition, once you get the ferry back from koh samui to Surat Thani you could always make a detour to Koh Sok national park.....lovely lovely.
    Good luck ...keep pedaling.

    Love the video. I spent 3-4 weeks in Ko Chang in 2017. Beautiful place and love the video recognise everywhere you’ve been so far! I know exactly the hills you faced and I can’t believe you cycled up them. It was even tough with 2 on a scooter!

    Matt, I'm trying to catch up on all your vids. Started watching a month ago while researching trikes. Been catching up on everything since then. You have a ton of them! All good too!

    Matthew, i have a 750w mid-drive paired up with my Rohloff 14-500 hub. I used a 30T narrow/wide chainring so my mid-drive wouldn't over heat on the long, steep climbs. It was the recommended internal hub because it is so robust and strong. I simply have to change my oil in the hub every couple thousand miles to insure long life.
    Rohloff's are considered the most reliable internal hubs on the market. (they're German made of course) . So is Mercedes Benz.
    And you know the HP Velotechnik FS scorpion is German quality also. I like German made machinery.. my last name is Krause.

    Such a beautiful episode, holy shit!! And that is both because of the landscape and you!! Love to see how positive and happy you are now.
    That doggo was adorable, and I am surprised to see the monkeys wander around like that!
    That swim must've felt so great after that hot day.

    its a small back wheel, so the actual torque on the hub is less by a factor of 406/700.. almost half the torque as a big wheel

    The bird songs at the start of your video (as you leaving the town in Trat) is piped music to attract Swift’s / swallows. The upper floors of the buildings are converted and used for the birds to nest. In the the country you will see what look like deserted buildings with no windows. Look more closely and you will find high tech security surrounding these buildings . They are called nesting houses. The nests of the Swift’s are harvested and sold mainly to China. Prices can fetch over $6000 / kg !!!!!

    • @JaYoeNation
      @JaYoeNation  Před 5 lety +1

      I know. I pass many of those buildings... I know them very well and have talked about them in the past. This was not that. This was real birds sound. Trust me. They were just saying good morning.

    Man I went on such a steep hill with my hpv gekko fx 20 that the front wheels actually left the ground and rolled the trike. Needless to say I get a little uneasy going up steep hills with it now.

    When you finally get to Cork in Ireland in about 10 years time (!) we'll set you the challenge of riding up St Patrick's Hill - a 25% hill. A local extreme endurance cyclist rode it 100 times for charity, then the following year 150 times. Search for "Donncha Cutriss climbs St Patrick's Hill 100 times" on CZcams for my little video of it - which at one stage had me running backwards up the steepest part of the hill filming him! Not bad for the 65 year old I was then :)
