    On my trike, I have a similar front lamp setup except I have 2 out front, plus I added a tube supporting a camera front and rear lamps on the front of my rack out 30 cm on each side, (70 cm over all). The low front lamps below 50 cm off the ground shows dips and holes better than a higher one even on a diamond framed bike!
    My flag is our provincial flag it has black, red, yellow, blue and white. It consists of a number of western European elements including the western facing lion (Germany), and a sailing ship (UK/Ibera). Along the hoist I added some 3M tape and 3M tails. My sewing is bad, but durable! It is 30 cm by 60 cm.

    Hello there. First of all, thank you for taking the effort of making these nice videos every 2 weeks.
    Nice flags made of recycled materials. On video they seem to be quite visible. The pole being foldable is a very nice bonus. Did you use the duct-tape to attach the flags to the pole? Anyway I would advice to firmly attach them to the pole so you wouldn't loose those nice handcrafted creations somewhere along the road.
    About the lights, I would have used some solder to connect the wires. This should make a better connection in the long run. I didn't notice any switch. So are they always ON when you are "sailing" along with the trikes? On my trike I used some small LED-foglights intended for use on a car. 2 white on the front (one on each mudguard) and one red on the back. They are connected via a switch on the handlebars to the battery of the electric assist. It works quite good as well.
    Have a nice weekend and see you next time!

    • @bici.family
      @bici.family  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for the comment! Yes, we attached the flags with duct-tape, we left two ribbons that we can use to attach the flag, and I used them to firmly tape it to the pole. For now, it seems to be very firmly attached. As for soldering, I agree, I should have probably soldered the wires together, but on the other hand, I checked that they are well connected, and zip-tied to the frame, so there should be no forces pulling the wires apart under normal conditions. The lights can be turned off if we want by a pushbutton on the back of the front light.

    Hello from Canada. Just a suggestion - If you look at the position of your flag on the trikes you will notice that it is not much higher than the front hood (Bonnet) of many of the vehicles you are passing. This means that from a drivers perspective you may still be quite hidden from view. I would suggest having your flag height about 2 meters (6 ft.) tall so they are clearly in the drivers line of sight.

I can stay on the bike 8 to 10 hours and need nothing more than lots of water and a good hot shower afterward... and I'm closer to 70 than 60 now. Of course, that's fully dependent on having a great seat. I see having 3 tires on the ground as a huge disadvantage because I am so often on single-track trails and negotiating so many pedestrian gates that just aren't bike-friendly. If I'm not pulling a trailer I can usually ride through them without touching a foot to the ground. As far as "sharing the load" I often add 200+ lbs. of gear to the bike and trailer and have no issues. Trikes are low, wide, and hard to control on tight winding trails. I have seen lots of recumbents veer off the trail while trying to break quickly or when reacting to something unexpected. It's all about personal choices, some guys want fat chicks... I never have.
