Thoughts on the trad wife trend & the rich’s obsession with being "poor"?
I'm always shocked by these trends! Let me give you a sneak peek into the Arab world and what rich countries call "the third world." (I live in Tunisia, so I'm speaking from experience.) Starting with the feminist movement, where they want women to work just like men, here, women have been working for centuries, even more than men. Women have always been working, even if they come from rich families, and we've been maintaining traditional households. If children don't work, chores around the house are considered work until they reach the proper age. For example, I worked most summers because my dad wanted me to learn how to be financially stable and independent, yet one of my life goals is to get married and have a family of my own. As for the "poor," they're obliged to start working at a young age, unfortunately, but this doesn't stop us from getting an education and graduating from the best universities.
People who own their own land, plant their own food, and raise animals are considered rich, not a "poor aesthetic." Even though it's one of the hardest things to pursue in life, we still take care of our lands and raise our children to take care of them after us. Also, we're well known for making our own olive oil! My aunt owns olive trees, and every year our whole family goes to pick olives and then takes them to the olive press to make our own olive oil. We do this yearly, so throughout the year, we always have many buckets that we sell and use. We also make our own bread every week-many women make it every day. If you search for types of bread we have, you'll be surprised to know that every country has its own traditional bread-not just countries, but every town and city.
Even couscous, which is a traditional meal in Tunisia and Morocco, we literally make it from scratch every year and stock it. Another example is chilies, peppers, our Harissa, rose water, and orange blossom water. (My father was literally picking orange blossoms from our tree just yesterday.) These things are typical to make in every Tunisian home, and if a family wasn't able to do so, they'd buy them from their neighbors. I swear these are just a few examples, and still, the women in our family are working. I'm always shocked by these trends! It's as if they're living in a parallel world where they just discovered how to clean their asses with water instead of wiping, lol.
I honestly think trad wifery is a thinly veiled kink and it's all a niche part of BDSM. I truly believe this.
The traditional wife culture is problematic because it reinforces outdated gender roles, restricts women's autonomy and potential, and undermines the principles of equality and individual freedom. Even if a husband can provide materially, it doesn't justify perpetuating harmful societal norms that limit women's choices and opportunities.
Even if a wife romanticizes traditional roles on her own, it doesn't change the underlying issues. Romanticizing traditional roles can still perpetuate harmful gender norms and restrict personal freedom and fulfillment. It's important to critically examine societal expectations and strive for relationships based on equality, mutual respect, and individual agency.
The obsession with romanticizing poverty or traditional culture among the rich can be damaging. It glamorizes hardship and the real struggles faced by those in poverty, while reducing women to status symbols or objects of desire, perpetuating inequality and harmful stereotypes. This fixation on superficial qualities and traditional roles often leads to a lack of personal fulfillment and missed opportunities for genuine connection, hiding pursuit of meaningful relationships based on equality, respect, and authenticity.
At the same time I don't think we have no right to judge them it's their choice after all.
I don't think these people are pretending to be poor. Why does being wealthy mean having a glitzy, glamorous life? What if these people just choose to live modestly instead of living outside their means to put on a show for us? Honestly, If I were a millionaire, I wouldn't spend my wealth on Hermes bags and Lamborghinis to impress others. I'd drive a normal car, make my meals from scratch, and continue to build my wealth. People like Nara Smith and Ballerina Farm are smart. Just because you have the money, doesn't mean you need to indulge in luxury.
@@U_quintessential.Kit's not outdated just because you don't like it. 😂 Majority of people on this planet live this way. What autonomy and potential exactly? People like you are so disgustingly misogynistic all while pretending to be the opposite. If you tell a woman who's a stay at home mother that she is less than because she's not chasing a girlboss life, you're the problem.
I have so much individual freedom and can live my best life, I'm also his equal in my worth but I don't WANT to be equal as in his societal role. I'm not a man and I don't want to be expected to fulfill the roles men fulfill. Also, idk why you people always think women never had anything in their backpackets for worst case scenarios, trad wives always knew how to bake, cook, tailor, sew, farm, etc. They could always work if they had to because their husband passed or got ill or whatever. It's not like they just sit at home and watch TV. How come yall always preach about romanticizing your life but when trad women find joy in it you attack them? Absolutely vile.
I'm obsessed by the video at 18 seconds, in which the girl harvests strawberries as if they were potatoes growing directly in the ground. wtf
omg i'm so glad someone said it lmaooo
the og vid is actually supposed to be a parody of how trad wives are lol 😭
As some who has strawberry plants, I had to play it back and I cackled. I think it's a parody account.
I laughed so loudly at that clip that I woke my husband up. 😂 10/10 comedy. Top-notch B roll.
I started laughing so hard! And even if it is just a parody, I honestly wouldn't put it past some of the tradwife accounts out there to actually try something like that
I am from India where this 'tradwife' or housewife culture is normalized and my experienced tradwife mom told me is to never depend on anyone whether financially or emotionally.
Same girl same.
Same here
Real! 😌
Same i am from Pakistan and it is a norm here but But everything has two sides two mich of dependency on someone is never good ! We should always have the option of choosing somethin for our selves
@@zuhasajid900lol men aren't told to be dependent
Having a farm doesn't equate to poverty. Every farmer i know is extremely wealthy
True! It actually costs quite a lot of money to own a farm, and selling your own product (meat, wool, etc) usually earns you more than an hourly salary.
Literally… I thought I’m watching about trad wives but ended up watching about “rich people romanticising poverty”? This girly is feeling herself too much and has become tone deaf. Cultural depth lacking, no attention to the nutritional aspect of homecooking. Apparently poor bake bread from scratch rather than pay $1? Got it 👍 pointless vid..
My godparents had own a farm for ever since I could remember, it's true, they live on the country side, and they do all the work on the farm, just the two of them. By now, they are both in their 70s and still do farm work, and let me tell you, besides the love they have for the liftestyle, the do produce A LOT of money.
I don't know, my mom has a farm and we are just middle class family
Exactly, farms take upkeep, which costs quite a bit. Depending on the size of the farm, it could be extremely costly. Especially if there are animals.
There's a difference between a homemaker and a trad wife.
These tradwives want to 1950 wife without getting their ass beaten everyday 😂😂
Without a doubt. I'm a stay-at-home mom, but wouldn't tell my girls that's the only option for their futures. It could be. Doesn't have to be.
@@hahalove47 I love that you'e making it work for you and your family! Yes, having options is the key to all of this.
@@hahalove47exactly!
This trend reminds me of this beautiful woman who cooks from scratch, BUT she feeds a whole village of less fortunate people.
Yes, and the most important thing to note is her emphasis on the wastefulness of specifically American, priviliedged content creators. Without that part, it would likely be received as charity for clout.
Oh yes, surthicooks.
I wouldn't want to be a house wife. Too much room for financial abuse and coercive control. If it works well, good for them, but the moment it doesn't they don't really have an exit strategy.
This👆🙌
In these marriages there're rapes
@@mitchelndindana1389 who wished bad? I surely didn't
True but at the same time have a bit of faith in your partner, cause whoever you choose should be the right one for you but also be cautious, its weird how being vulnerable in this day and age is seen as something sort of weak but at the same time the whole point of relationships is that the other person is someone who you trust and expect to be able to be vulnerable with, so idk man
Exaclty! And no one's immune to illness or even death. So even if these husbands won't cheat on them or leave them, they could still end up alone without anything. Education and a backup plan is SO important. Let's not be silly and naive girlies.
breaking news: cooking food from scratch is normal for everyone, poor and rich. it's just that you americans are not used to it! growing up in an italian family, we would consider packaged foods for rich people lol mom was a SAHM dad worked all day everyday and now me and my sister work in healthcare but we can't wait to have our own family. we can always go back to work when and if we want.
real feminism is choosing the life YOU want and supporting women who do the same.
Its almost like Geography exists and what is possible for rural italians is impossible for urban Americans living on minimum wage. Your "affordable fresh local ingredients" are Expensive foreign imported products in the US.
Being a feminist means having the power to choose your occupation and lifestyle as a woman. If these women find empowerment and confidence in being a homemaker, rather than going out to find work, more power to them.
❤❤❤
exactly, i find it rlly sad that some ppl are hating on these women. If these people find comfort and love in this, who are we to stop them?
My only issue with this is how these younger trad wives sugarcoat everything when women who have been trad wives for 20+ years will say to have something of your own because they know the horrors of being completely dependent on another human
Exactly.
Also people are forgetting how hard it is to find a job.
@@Vor567tez This is not a valid excuse for being a tradwife. You will have to get a job if your husband passes, leaves you, or becomes disabled. It is much harder to get a job when you’ve been out of the work force for 15+ years. Just something to think about.
I'm a housewife because childcare is more expensive than me staying home. Mix that with mental illness and an introverted nature, and I am more than happy to stay out of the hustle grind
I'm disabled and a housewife. I love it b/c I don't have to be belittled by some boss or customers or coworkers.
I make my own schedule and am the CEO of my own little world ❤
@@DrinkYourNailPolish So long as your husband or kids don’t start belittling you, I don’t think you have a bad gig.
ur under a lot of comments whats ur problem with trad wives? cuz this lady said she was happy and you immediately jump to the negative and do so on every single comment urging under
Nothing wrong with being houswife, but these tradwives talk trash about working women, and tell others to give up jobs and career while they make money from social media, that's why I hate them, also they talk bad about feminists whiles using all the rights feminists gave them.
She said she's disabled dafaq is wrong with u, if u disagree with her lifestyle, just scroll over, no need to wish bad karma on her for the crime of not living what u perceive as the ideal feminist life@@tiahnarodriguez3809
i dont really see how being a trad wife is...pretending to be poor? countries like the united states, the uk and canada made people wage slave and warped their sense of normality. in Guatemala they make tortilla from scratch, in china they make dumpling from scratch, germans make their own bread, Italians make their pasta from scratch and also their cheese. lot of other cultures make their food from scratch without being poor. we got cultures making humus and yogurt from scratch and i could go on and on.
this is not normal to work like a slave and have no time to do anything afterward, this is not normal to work 2 jobs and barely be able to survive. And most importantly , this is not normal to be so detached from the food that you eat.
instead of criticizing those women, the masses should focus on doing something about this system that have made them think that the bare minimum (to survive) is something normal.
I couldn't agree more. I work from home but make alot of our food at home fresh just because it's easier and better for us than spending 500 dollars at the grocery store. Bread is super easy and cheap to make at home.
Isnt the criticism part of doing something? It's highlighting the symptoms of a capitalist society,
I agree!
The video is talking about how being a trad wife is being romaticised without realising the actual struggle that comes with it for women and for the whole family.
People who are making viral videos are not out there making things to save a dime. They are wealthy stay at home wives who are making money by videos and getting commission on products.
When the topic started treading that when i realized that those countries consider making stuff from scratch for the rich,am African (Ethiopian/Kenyan to be specific)and making food from scratch would be considered for the poor coz it means you are either a farmer, working at a farm or you do not have workers coz you have to get the ingredients for yourself and process it by yourself and make food from scratch.Rich people mostly tend to be the one to afford processed food, helpers or even fastfood
Am shocked to see the difference that for us trad wife maybe considered for the poor and career wives for us is for the rich
Just remember ladies, keep a financial safely net. Your children and yourself being housed and fed are fully dependent on your husband finding you attractive, pleasant, and wanting to be with you if you go down this rabbit hole. There are way too many horror stories about women being left homeless, being abused, having to turn to sex work to feed their children after their man leaves, etc.
Women are lazy so they will take their chances and roll the dice despite the horror stories
Do whatever you want to do guys, just secure your financial future. Get an education and always further your skills.
All these influencer trad wives are nothing but a bunch of liars and deceivers, while they DO have a job which is creating content as influencers and making money for themselves to be financially independent, they encourage other women to fully submit to their husbands and become fully dependent on their husbands’ incomes. So sad! I feel sorry for all women who would fall for these lies and would risk their own future.
Are you married?
@@SupremeGreatGrandmaster yes. Married, and have a job. Also double graduation and double masters degree. One masters done after wedding. People who are financially aware will always further their skills.
It's wise to do this first anyway so you'll have the money to afford a family later.
@@Anarchy_Angel94 yes that's the best part. Having an education is the first step towards a secure future. In our country there is a saying like: who is the one who will always stay with you no matter the time, place and age? That is knowledge. Everyone can leave you but not the knowledge you have learnt.
People need to be realistic. Of course you can do whatever you want to but don't be delusional. Your husband could cheat and leave you for someone younger like all these poor women have been telling us on social media lately, they've been left with nothing except their own kids. And even if your husband might be the best one in the world and always loves you - what if he becomes ill or even dies? Could happen to anyone. That's why you need to have a back up plan, education and be prepared to be able living on your own if you'd have to. Women fought for these things for a reason.
80% of divorce are initiated by women. This fantasy world where men keep on leaving women is not real. If it happened to you, you represent less than 21% of divorce stats. Also wealthy women who are trad wives (I say wealthy and not just rich) usually got pretty good prenups and even pretty big life insurance on the husband in case he dies
@@Law_Abiding_Citizen359 women initiating divorces doesn't mean they're the ones giving up on the actual relationship. It tells you nothing about who did what, the only thing it tells you is that women moreso than men are willing to go through with filing the paperwork. For example your husband could go off and cheat, even go so far as to go live with his gf and you're still married on paper. If he thinks filing the paperwork is too much hassle, you're the one that has to do it if you want a divorce. I've heard countless stories of unhappily married couples where no matter how miserable they are, the husband is dragging his feet on the actual divorce paperwork so the woman has to file for it.
If the marriage is already dead then simply not filing for divorce won't save it.
If you want to prove that it's predominantly women giving up on relationships/marriages, then you're going to have to look at a different statistic and dig into the reasons why.
People remaining married also doesn't mean it's a successful marriage, even though lots of people use "successful mariage" to mean a couple that remained married. They could be miserable together but not go through with divorce for several reasons. Often those reasons are financial.
What makes you think Nara doesn't have a backup plan,? She is a model and I'm pretty sure she makes money from her content. How do you know she doesn't have other business? Has she explicitly said you didn't need to make your own money or do you just assume that because she bakes bread from scratch then she must not be making any money? I want to know how you got to that conclusion
@@tondaniraluswinga2590 I wasn't talking about her? I'm aware of that, that's why I don't think there's any problematic about what Nara is doing. She has her job and own money. With my comment I meant all of the young women who aren't in a position like her yet still want to blindly become an actual tradwife. Like many of the women who unfortunately came out on social media talking about how they became a tradwife with NO job, no money, no back up plan, no education. I have no problem with Nara, I have problems with other tradwives on TikTok influencing young women into something potentially dangerous without telling them the risks.
@@tondaniraluswinga2590 It's not just about influencers, but also about ordinary people. Let's admit that being/becoming an influencer is not as easy as it seems, of course it is easier to be one if you yourself are from a rich family or already have a bag of money like Nara (what does she have to do with it, speaking for everyone?). Now, if an ordinary housewife’s husband got sick/died (God forbid)/cheated and left, and they have 5 children and she has never worked and she is young. A husband may “go for milk” and not help HIS OWN children (and this often happens in all countries 🤷🏽♀️). And no matter how educated a woman is and has money, it will be very difficult for her to raise children, and if you imagine that some girls do not have education and work experience... this is a complete fuck-up, because you need a job to feed your family, and if she has no work experience, it is not a fact that she will be hired, even despite her diplomas and good grades. Therefore, it is better not to romanticize this crap, especially to young people 🙆🏽♀️
I love that my husband is fine with me staying at home while he works. I am getting my bachelor's, and once I graduate, I plan to work from home. He's totally fine with that ❤
Plus, I love looking nice for him when he comes home, and I love making him food that he can't get enough of. We want to be happy so when we have kids, they are happy too... family first always ❤️
If you're poor, you don't make bread from scratch. If you can't afford the bread, you sure as hell can't afford the 7 plus ingredients to make it. I realize now how many people don't know simple things like that about poor people's lives after I came to class one day and no one knew what food stamps and section 8 was or find it unbelievable that my family doesn't own a car. None of these hobbies the people in video do correlate what poor people have to do. They're just hobbies, and trying to turn it around and say they just want to pretend to be poor is ridiculous. Buying a luxury van to live in, making meals from scratch or owning a cow holds no resemblance to modern day poverty, and comparing the two and saying that poor people are becoming victims of this odd romanticism is insane. Some people are just lacking logic, not that I'm trying to attack Zoe. I know she's simply the messenger, and I'm glad she brought such a ridiculous thing to my attention.
I didn't know this,am African and for us making food from scratch majority would be considered poor, because it means you work in the farm or a farmer or you don't have helpers, coz you have to be working in farm to have the ingredients and process it by yourself.rich people are the ones who can afford to buy ready made products.I was shocked when this topic started treading, and realized mking food from scratch in the USA is considered for the rich
I agree! In the US it’s actually more expensive, both in money and labor, to make stuff from scratch or own land or animals.
bread does not require 7 ingredients to make lmao theyre not expensive either
Bread from scratch is cheaper. Only slightly but it is. Bread only requires flour yeast and salt and per oz of bread it is cheaper
Right? I watch all these inspiring channels that promote cooking with fresh ingredients, but it's way out of my budget
I think the concept of “trad wives” works best as an exception rather than a rule for the upper class. These people have actively CHOSEN this, they’re adults they can do what they want. The concern mainly comes if this trickles down to the middle class and this starts becoming an expectation. If you want to do this, more power to you, but I think we all can agree if this becomes an experience is where this becomes an issue
This! And that’s why a lot of the women in the comments on videos for this hate for it to be talked about. They want to live a rich/wealthy lifestyle that they know doesn’t work the same way when applied to middle and working class people.
Loved the "You can work under people but not be inferior" comment❤
What I always miss with videos about tradwives is that they need to be called out on the fact that while they sell the fantasy of a obedient wife they are in reality very tough businesswomen. With the money from content creation alone they are far from being financially dependent on their husband. I’m glad that you pointed it out. They are building their own brands and image with this content bc it is very controversial and the algorithm loves it. The most comments under these vids are women preaching to not go down that road. They cleverly use ragebait combined with selling the dream of a easy life without a 9-5. they get two crowds at once and money is flowing in big time. They are very clever businesswomen that’s a fact.
True, they have their social media knowledge/business acumen & independent savings to fall back on but most 'influencers' are not financially successful. So that still isn't a good safety net for most young and impressionable women who do try to follow them
And also as the algorithm changes and people something else to get upset about, that content will stop bringing quite so many views. Unless they pivot their content or already have a good funnel set up by that point, even the best and most successful tradwife accounts won't be able to keep a steady income from it for that long
Edit: I watched the rest of the video and the case studies she used aren't even tradwives they're just straight up influencers who cook. She's also just using the tradwife angle to make us comment...
In general this video either chooses the wrong clips to make it's point or perhaps it doesn't really know what point it's trying to make.
In Germany, Internships must be paid by law, however Internships that are Part of studying don't have to be paid, meaning you're essentially forced to Work for free for half a year. I'm seeing the "Tradwifes" and whatnot very critical, because let's be honest: having No Money is No Fun at all.
Yes, however the law is only about a decade old (as is the minimum wage, by the way). Before that there were plenty of internships lasting 3 to 6 months that were unpaid. Even with the requirement of a university degree in certain fields. Best known industries that relied on that were media and culture, but they weren't the only ones.
Having a rich husband would be great but there is power when you have your own money even if its a little bit.
I see these "trad wife" / "stay at home girlfriend" as clever marketing at best or dangerous trap, at worst. Any woman who is over 30 knows that kind of relationship would be unsustainable in real life, only very young girls could fall for that crap. And there lies the danger. Look at those women who present as "trad", they are all extremely young and beautiful, not one over 30 or God forbid 40! Can you think of why? Can you actually imagine that charade lasting for 5 or 10 years? Woman having the same day over and over and over and presenting to her husband every day as a living doll with no flaws so he doesn't leave her and takes care of her? Many if not all women over 30 would tell you that's nonsense and it would never work! No matter how rich he is. She will and would get tired of that in few years, and later she could develop some health issues as people do during years of life, and not feel or look so hot, she could start resenting her husband and he could resent her for "doing nothing" and if you, God forbid, get sick so that your looks are gone, you are in deep, deep trouble. Even if your husband is really nice genuine great man, at one point you will both have to see how pointless all that presentation is.
I am just saying, all those women who promote this, are maybe 19-23 and that makes young girls think it's a fairytale. And that's where the danger is. We should be aware there are no such thing as fairytale in life. There is no such thing as perfect life, it's all unpredictable and very subjective. Not one size fits all. This "trend" could produce many many horrible marriages, and many miserable women in several years. Sure, you can't hate because it's not ok for influencer to hate, but I really think this trend is vicious and dangerous for very young women who think this is escape from real life. It's not. Be aware. The worst men love this trend, they want a woman who they can control and who can not escape them, ever. It may seem cute and macho at the beginning but after several years, not so cute at all. I don't like this one bit.
A marriage´s quality isn´t based upon the working dynamics but the respect dynamics. No amount of each person having their own job is going to make them be more in love. The opposite, as being stressed out from unfulfilling jobs that pay less in this shitty economy that is inflated by the amount of jobs is not conducive to love. While there is always a fad and bad faith actor behind every movement, you have to engage with the ideas in an intellectually honest manner rather than hypothesize the worst case scenario and say that is representative of the idea.
The divorce rates are bad regardless of whether both partners work or the roles are traditional... it´s almost as if the issues lie somewhere else.
@@zerothehero.takeasip6612 you got me wrong. This is not about being housewife or househusband. It's ok not to work and stay home. I am talking about idealized dynamics of fairytale marriage where roles are FIRMLY set for both people, and they have to play them each and every day. I might not described this well, but the point is relationship is not role playing. And it's dangerous to get married to someone who expects pretty, always happy and perfectly made up wife, who is never tired, sick or unhappy, waiting for him at home and wife who "knows her place". It has nothing to do with real traditional marriages. My grandma was traditional, she lead the whole house and worked her butt off every day, she was a total hero and bad-ass! She was housewife but far far away from these pure for esthetic and marketing role plays.
What I am also saying this model "you listen and do what I say, I make money" could attract the worst men, controllable narcissists who won't let you leave.
Again, nothing to do with real housewives or traditional wives, this is a pure "trend".
@@zerothehero.takeasip6612 Having your own income and money in your bank account that other people cannot touch means you have more options (you can leave the relationship quickly if you need to), more safety and makes it more likely you're together because you want to instead of needing to for financial reasons.
Being financially dependent on your partner is just not a good idea, regardless of how much respect there is both ways. Someone can lose respect for their partner in a second.
Divorce rates aren't a measure of how many relationships are unhappy. There are a lot of unhappily married people who stay married, and there were a lot more in the past (going by what I know about my parents generation) because of increased social stigma about divorce and less financial independence for women.
Being the stay at home wife/gf is a lot more fun if you have safety money.
There are plenty of women in their 30s and 40s living perfectly well in a traditional marriage, they’re just not the generation that’s blasting it on social media. Traditional marriage isn’t about financial control or being perfect for your husband, it’s about a man and woman coming together to form a strong team and balance out each other’s strengths and weaknesses in order to build a lasting family.
@@smartypantspod That’s what you think, but many men see tradrelationships about control and many women see trad relationships as an easy way to get out of working. Regardless of reasoning there is a reason why tradwives 30+ do not advocate for girls and women to get into this lifestyle. The tradwife to welfare pipeline is still going strong.
can't believe i was thinking about the same thing!!!! its really eye opening to rethink how and why I judged myself for not cooking myself a healthy meal, follow a proper exercise and diet routine, help my mom in the morning to cook and expect myself to ace my 12 hr college days when I am already struggling to keep up just with the latter !!! I guess these aesthetic cooking videos warped the reality of my own and exponentially skyrocketed expectations of myself!! Not saying work/life balance cannot be achieved, but throwing realistic/incremental goals for yourself out the window was just as delirious. I love Zoe that you pointed out that its us viewer's responsibility to get influenced by such concepts but at the end of the day, the algorithm has a strong potential to influence us without knowing it!!! I guess the only option is to develop critical thinking to all of it.
Its really hard to adult. Few tips I learnt cooking for myself. Time is your biggest resource when cooking. Like you I struggle as a dude to cook, clean and excercise while studying as well which is on top of part time work. Like I never feel I have enough time and if I do have time I spend it just de-stressing(doom scrolling tiktok/youtube). I find that food Influencers teach you how to make food as a hobby but how to make the food while going through daily life. So here are the tips I learnt.
1. Fridge and microwave are the best devices you can have. Never make more than 3 takeout boxes worth of 1 dish, this helps with variety so you dont get tried of the same meal. Its faster to make 3 meals all at once instead of 3 meals individually.
2. Cook multiple dishes at the same time and refrigerate. When you cook multiple dishes simultaneously (helps if protein is similar e,g (chicken adobo, butter chicken , chicken roast)) it is faster. You save time with veggie/meat prep, simulateanous cooking and cleaning up. You spend longer in the kitchen but it saves you loads of time and if you want to give food .
3. Often times the carbohydrate doesnt need to be refrigerated such as pasta or rice or steamed potatos, these can be cooked without much attention, just set it up with a timer and comback when read. Rice is S-tier, as you can get fresh rice with like 2 minutes of effort with a rice cooker.
I hope this helps. I havent got this whole adulting thing figured out as well.
The thing is I think I would actually love to be a trad wife, but I swore to myself that I would never be financially dependent on someone else, so I guess I just gotta win in the lotto or something😭
Girl please don't, it's lot hardwork than backing bread and looking preety, even if you become a tradwive I hope you will be better than the shitty once talking bad about others.
Why have you decided that being a traditional wife means you have to financially depend on someone?
Tradwife doesn't necessarily mean total financial dependence. I know a lot of tradwives and they often work part time/from home. Perhaps not the traddest of the trad wives, but it's a step closer. The ones who I know that had trouble were the ones with no backup plan. Get a degree/certificate and keep it current. It was the unprepared ones that were left in trouble when husband ditched or died. The prepared ones ate ramen for a bit, but ultimately did fine for themselves and their children.
@@horsegirlsb9870 the only thing I hate about the content creators tradwives is that, they're selling this dream to many people, thats not reality, also they make money from social media yet they saying they don't work 😂. And lastly the one's who says women's should not have rights, yet use all the rights,
Traditional wives depended on the men financially, submitted, obeyed, and stayed barefoot and pregnant.
Having a farm ≠ poverty. Thus having a farm ≠ poverty larping. Idk those influencers but that seems like it could be a very beneficial and educational experience for their children and a good environment.
The biggest concern about rich people in agriculture is how they treat the laborers. But if they are "doing everything even though they don't have to" then there wouldn't be laborers to mistreat..
not gonna make a habit of defending the upper/ruling class but i think learning and doing these kinds of skills is a great way to raise their kids, and being outdoors is great for kids too. I would want every kid to have these opportunities is all.
Grew up in a farm. It’s extremely expensive to upkeep a farm, it definitely doesn’t equal poverty…but it’s absolutely awesome for kids! 👏
Another issue that can be easily avoided in your daily life if you just don't waste time on social media and focus more on the real life.
Harvest strawberries they grow on a plant not the ground 😂
harvesting just means gathering crops. it's even not specific to plants, it's just anything that you have grown or produced
Probably parody anyway but strawberry plants tend to grow in fields, on the ground
I completely agree with you!
Kinda wild how some people have to make everything about themselves. "This person's life is unrealistic and therefore it makes me angry that this content exists". Ok... it's content. Move on, they're not making it for you if you don't like it. I never want to be a trad wife but then her content isn't for me and that's ok! Yes i wish i were as comfortable as her, but that's a me problem not her (tldr: i agree with Zoe's take on that subject)
No their content can affect teenage girl that think being a tradwife is betten than work
baby aww babyyyyy
Their content is as toxic af, which create unrealistic toxic expectations in young minds about relationships, which can ruin the parties involved in it.
"feminism" is a not a respect for all "choices". feminism analyses and critiques the illusion of "choice" and does not support choices that is ultimately bad for women as a social group.
i love you
Nara smith isn't even atrad wife, she works as well as take care of her family by cooking because she likes it! There are also many videos of lucky cooking for her. Plus simply cooking things from scratch isn't a word trad wife thing, she's just used to that as someone who grew up German coming with her family. Americans are just used to buying premade food so she seems like an anomaly. Plus being a feminist is about fighting for the choice to do what you want and even if she was at rad wife that's okay!
Exactly. I'm from Austria and also make so much from scratch. It's how we are wired. Plus eating out, the way we could afford, just never hits the spot.
She's definitely taking advantage of people's perception of it being a tradwife thing, makes her business more money
your voice is so calming to listen to and you always find interesting topics to talk about, thank you queen
Wtf 0:18 made me choke, do people think strawberries grow in the ground like potatoes or what??
Most of these women are making their own money (at least from their social media, if not other side hustles) and/or have family money to fall back on. It's become a privilege to have time to do housekeeping and domestic labor.
It’s always been a privilege to just stay home and focus solely on domestic duties. Poor women have always had to work and take care of the house, kids, and husband. Even in the movie “Crazy Rich Asians” the rich mom said that she realized that she was privileged to just be able to focus on Nick and her marriage because most other people had to work.
I couldn't be anything othet than sad being a housewife and habving children but its ok if other people feel happy doing it as long as its 100%genuine and not from socisl pressure or feeling having to conform to dated strict ideas of being a woman. Some men even become househusbands while many other men aren't and some of them also dont want children. All choices are equally worthy of respect as long people dont try to pressure them to do it or pressure them not to do whatever they like.
I would never want to be to be a house wife or anything like that. Women have the potential to be so much more than a mother to a grown man.
Exactly, I don't want to mother a grown man
Also in real life, traditionalism is everything but fun. Talking about real traditionalism, not TikTok or whatever
Although some men can be that way. You have to find the right one for what you want. Besides being a house wife or stay at home mom is usually about fulfilling a part of you. Wanting to grow a family with someone you love and raising children is very fulfilling to some women including myself.
@@honeyedpeaches @honeyedpeaches It is dangerous, though. Some men act like good men until you get pregnant or until you have dated for multiple months. If they turn out to be abusive after you've already got married or pregnant, what then? You are a house wife and you most likely won't have an easy escape or money. There is so much more to life than staying at home and being a housewife. These women could pursue their dreams.
@@brownie4493true it is dangerous but really being a relationship at all can be dangerous. Men can be dangerous. But if we are too scared to give someone a chance who could make our lives special and enjoyable then we will miss out. Your statement is COMPLETELY valid. I’m just saying If you want something you can find the right man and they can give it to you. A woman’s dreams come in many different things. Like art, music, law, etc. being a house wife or a stay at home mom is the same dream.🤍
¡Interesante comentario, primera vez que leo a alguien de Túnez, qué increíble es tu experiencia!
I'm Algerian we live the exact same life,it is normal for us as north African to make bread everyday or make olive oil from scratch i don't understand stand how they find this as replicating a poor lifestyle
lol some of them actually wipe
@@leavemealone7822 They’re replicating American 1950’s living. There’s nothing poor about this lifestyle it’s just an aesthetic. If they really want to feel poor they should try replicating 1930’s American living.
Absolutely right, women working is nothing new , also all the traditional women work hard, not like these new tradwives just looking pretty and bakeing bread 😂😂😂
Are you really a tradwife if you work on social media and earn money by yourself??
it might still count cause i doubt that their earnings from social media, if they have any, pay the bills.
Nah u wont make enuff to buy atleast tampons trust me
Please tell me the strawberry reel in the beginning is satire! Strawberries don't grow like carrots. Wtf! 😅
I try to make everything from scratch because everything that the grocery store is full of chemicals and incredibly processed. I know a lot of these women are trying to feed their families well.
Being a trad wife would drive me insane. I would need to have an income I can call my own, at least working past time doing what i love, if my husband was well off.
last part is so well said!! working for someone else gives you "assets and values" that can allow you to work for yourself one day (if that is your desire). i got a minimum wage job at 15, and honestly without it i wouldn't have even had the money to be able to afford a laptop, ipad, iphone, editing software, external hardrives, storage, quality microphones, ring lights, tripods, subscriptions, and so many other things that have allowed me to begin my content creation journey!
I really appreciate that you worked for a few years before going to full-time content creation. There too many out of touch creators in their early twenties who've just been making video essays since high school and have nothing to add.
I really liked this video, and I agree that working under someone else isn’t inferior, but you have to acknowledge the main reason easy money or working as your own boss is so ideal/romanticized is because normal 9-5 managers and bosses are notorious for screwing over their workers. We are tired of working and wasting so many hours of our lives to not even be able to buy groceries or afford a studio apartment.
This same scenario is a reality for many trad-wives. Their husbands put up a fuss anytime they ask for money. Even if it’s for something they benefit from like groceries or even stuff their kids need. Then all of a sudden the wife is the husband’s personal sw and he won’t give her the full amount or any money until she pleases him. Lots of trad-wives also say that they feel demeaned whenever they ask for money form their husbands, so the grass isn’t always greener, but I’d dare say that it isn’t greener at all.
I guess we are in a "cinderella era" since both being rich and poor is so romanticized today? I dunno, sounds correct- it's unfortunate on both ends really no one can just live :/ all I can is nothing profound but it is true: it sucks to be alive and everyone hold on tight
I like how you treat people with dignity no matter how they live.
the end of the video is actually so uplifting and validating, thank u! i feel like rewatching this a lot
I do agree that their content is mostly just aesthetic and sharing their blessings and amazing habilities, but it is still consumed by younger audiences.:The background of these trends is ''if you liked what you saw and want to do it yourself: get someone with money so you can live this life, and do it while you are still young because then you are less valuable'.
That is how you end up in the female counterpart of the AlpaMales, the Femeninity Academies. How to be more worthy and how to choose a high value man (and sorry if you are ugly or live in a poor country or are older than 23).
The problem again is not with what a few women choose to do with their lives, the problem is what it causes in many more viewers
Yes this is the problem
TRAD WIFE TREND = SCAM
All these influencer trad wives are nothing but a bunch of liars and deceivers, while they DO have a job which is creating content as influencers and making money for themselves to be financially independent, they encourage other women to fully submit to their husbands and become fully dependent on their husbands’ incomes. So sad! I feel sorry for all women who would fall for these lies and would risk their own future.
Trad wife is a 1950's post war concept. Its not traditional. Its harmful to suggest that women are only opposed to the idea because we're jealous. Also encouraging financial dependence on someone else is irresponsible at best and (again) harmful at worst.
What were women doing before war?
Reading these comments I’m realising that people clicked on this video, but they didn’t watch it ! Zoe talks about a very specific scope of topics but some of this discussion demonstrates that it went over your heads.
RE: feminism as the freedom to be a tradwife and to not be judged for it. The thing is, feminism doesn't exist in a vacuum and is not in the service of collective liberation when we prioritize individual liberty over the collective, with no accountability to the collective.

You have articulated everything so well.🎉
They are social media influencers, not actual traditional wives. "Kept woman" would be a more accurate term. They aren't outside farming and doing many traditional tasks from sun up till sun down which is how traditional women around the world live. They are just middle to upper middle (even wealthy) young women who happen to not work. I would also argue that once they become mothers it's a grind, unless they are rich enough to have paid help or lucky to have really involved grandparents. At least with a 9-5 you are getting paid and you get to go home and not think about work. Being a SAHM is 24/7 and relentless self-sacrifice. That being said, I'm pro stay at home parents and if a woman wants to essentially be a kept-woman and be dependent on a man, that's her choice.
I myself am not much of a career woman and have never been too ambitious as far as busting my ass to earn a bunch. I do have a job but it seems like other women my age (30) are far more ambitious and money motivated than myself, making me often feel like the oddball.
The problem with the estee's content is that she promotes her lifestyle as the only correct way of living. She condems women who go to college and have a job outside of taking care of your household. Everytime someone calls her out for it, she immediately plays the victim card and says something like "sO woMen CaNT ChOSe tOo StAY aTT hOMme?!?!!?!" she portrays her life as the only right way of living for women, and says women SHOULD submit to men esp their husbands. That is why women hate on her. Also when it comes to Nara Smith, they're all making fun of her because the editing makes it look like she makes everything from scratch the moment her kids ask for food. For example, if her kids ask for grilled cheese, she will begin making cheese and bread that very moment and it obviously takes a long time to do that. Basically the joke is that she starves her kids just so that she can make food from scratch lol
Este's content is genuinely harmful, there are so many young girls who are impressionable and will see this and aspire to be like her. Again, nothing wrong with being a house wife (not trad wife) but everyone (including the husband and wife) must have some form of their own income, what if the husband dies? Life insurance will only last so much. Moreover, Estee while promoting a lifestyle where women should not earn, she earns her own damn money by posting content and monetizing it like ???
THIS! 👏

The danger with these i think is that what happens if the marriage doenst work out. Unless you are independently wealthy or have a good safety net the years you spend married can make you unemployable or at least have less skills that can directly transfer to a job.

That all takes money though. And the husbands of these trad wives control the finances (most of the time). Understandable that people get angry when the rich can spend hours cooking as a hobby, but that’s the ideal right there, which is why they do it.
They do it to make more money. Rich people don’t usually cook their own food, but they will for content creator income.
Let’s goo new topic!! Also I love your content!
This honestly bugs me so much because I live and work on a farm, and it's not for fun, it's how my family pays the bills. It's a lot of manual labor, and most of the of the time the jobs you do on the farm leaves you tired, dirty, and sore. The life those people depict is extremely unrealistic.
So what should be the solution since you have experienced working in a farm.
@@tondaniraluswinga2590 A solution to what? My family owned a farm/agricultural business. It's not a stable business to be in in the netherlands where we live. It's also really hard on the body and can cause chronic conditions later on in your 40s and 50s. If you have cows or other livestock you have no days off. Getting up so early and living in a very rural area can isolate you socially and make it harder to socialize unless you are good friends with other farmers who live close to you.
For more financial stability, healthier work life balance and better physical health I would suggest a less physical job in another sector. You can still grow some food for personal consumption and even have some chickens but at least your livelihood doesn't depend on it.
@@itsalwayshalloweenexceptwh5118 so why not create these opportunities for yourself? I'm convinced a lot of y'all love to see women struggle when they do traditional roles
I personally think, that my husband should be providing for me and not dependent on my money as a house income, no matter how muvh I earn, i want to earn, but I need that financial freedom that I can leave the job the second I want.

Some people want to be a home maker and that's fine, but for most people it's probably not doable.
It's so weird that influencers are making it seem like there's only two paths: being reach or rot in the office doing meaningless labour. Like there's SO MANY ways to make money and so many different jobs, I am making games I don't think I would give this up if I were rich because I love my job. So many people love their jobs, we don't need all to be rich doing nothing, I wouldn't want to be influerncer like those girls because I don't like those tiktoks so being rich and famous for that would probably make me unhappy. I would like to be rich though, without influencer stuff
