  • Cpl. Anthony Hamilton, a landing support specialist with III Marine Expeditionary Force explains the details of his job field and how his platoon supports Valiant Shield at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, September 14, 2016. VS16 is a biennial, U.S.-only, field training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces. This training enables real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, locating, tracking and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace in response to a range of mission areas.

    I was told that they wore red patches bc grunts would try to claim they're landing support instead of going to combat.

      Andy_in_NH Im an old Marine (1973-1977) why are Grunts today obessed with POGs? It takes 3 to 4 POGs to support Grunts. And without Grunts you would not need POGs. Just wondering....by the way I was a Grunt, if I had to do over again I'd been a POG. Fresh sheets on your rack, dry feet and fresh starched Utilities everyday.

      @andy_in_nh9243 Před 7 lety +8

      I don't know Grunts today obsessed with POGs (your word). The only issue I've had with support personnel is when they didn't do their job or when they copped an attitude about who they had to support - the Grunts. Sometimes it is referred to as "Grunt envy". I was a Grunt for twenty years (0311, 0369, 0306). If I had to do it all over again I'd be a Grunt again. I didn't do it for the money. I did it for the experience of being around physically hard, mentally tough Marines who took pride in accomplishing their mission despite the challenges of terrain and weather.
