Always glad to see Ichigo getting love. Out of the Big 3, I will always die on the hill that Ichigo is the realest MC. The guy hates fighting, he never wants to. Even before seeing his mom die in front of him he hated fighting. But, seeing his mom fueled him to fight for others. And one of the realest lines he ever said was he doesn't fight because he wants to win, he has to fight because if he doesn't win people will die. Based.

Blazing Azure Crow got that part of Ichigo so well in thier Abridged Series.
Ichigo is the type of man who would reach a hand out to an enemy the MOMENT after beating them. He detests having to fight, even more so having to kill.
But he knows that if he doesn't, the people he loves, the friends he made, the very universe itself WILL die.
So while he will always try to talk things out first, if given no choice he will not hesitate to raise his sword.

He hasn't even developed his own Cursed Technique yet and has gotten this far (although in the manga there is common speculation about him developing one) not to mention that's how he got his super strength in the first place, because he is pretty much the son of a powerful cursed spirit, and his relation with Choso and the other cursed wombs is also interesting. not to mention it's heavily implied that Yuji ate his other siblings/the remaining Cursed Wombs: Death Paintings to get stronger, from the panel where he says "I'll eat anything" and his later conversation with Choso, where Choso mentions how "they can go on living as a part of you"
There are a lot of really interesting and subtle layers to Yuji's character and his growth goes beyond just the fight with Mahito. He's still the main character. You don't have to be the most powerful to be the main character.

Something people tend to miss is that shonen protagonists typically have simplified powers/movesets relative to the rest of their respective casts. Naruto is actually capable of most of the advanced techniques seen in his universe, but ultimately his strategy boils down to duplicating himself or hitting things really hard. Yuji is surrounded by people who can summon creatures, conjure illusions, warp souls, and even bend space-time, but mostly just hits things really hard. Ichigo's allies and enemies can manipulate the elements or mold spiritual energy into weapons, but Ichigo's moveset is almost entirely focused on increasing his strength or speed to again hit things really hard. The same can be said for Asta, Midoriya, Luffy, Natsu, Gon, Shinra, Yusuke, etc. The beverage analogy is actually perfect. Sometimes, simplicity is best.

    • @bootlegspinjutsu9966
      @bootlegspinjutsu9966 Před 8 měsíci

True, but the other thing about these characters is that it leaves room for what-ifs like: What if Ichigo knew Kido or What if Itadori had his OWN CT and not eventually inherit Sukuna's, or what if Naruto knew more Wind Style Jutsu. One thing I do like is when a character in a sequel series actually develops this to show their growth, like how Naruto lowkey knows Earth Style, or how Ichigo was said to have mastered all of his race abilities in the Hell Arc. As a writer myself, I'm actually doing a few things differently, rather than having a simplified character, they actually are a *little* well-versed in their techniques, but there are moments where simplicity is naturally blended in to keep things nice and simple as a refresher. The first arc shows the MC developing his own abilities and showing that he's pretty haxed, but then the last fight of the arc is a pure classic battle of ranged vs CQC when his hax are taken away by the villain who studied his powers and came up with a counter, and who fought him when he didn't have enough energy to tap back into those hax, as well as having no knowledge on how to get them back either.

    • @loicpernot8779

They have more simplistic approaches to fighting, but Asta, Midoriya, Luffy, and Shinra all have complexity to their powers. For some of them, it's an ability that swings matchups in their favor (like Asta or Midoriya), for others it's that their abilities are special in some metaphysical way (like Luffy and Shinra), but all of them have abilities that go beyond just raw power.

    • @yasumedia9528
      @yasumedia9528 Před 8 měsíci +1

@@loicpernot8779 I think Midoriya is the only exception in this case. Luffy is extremely creative with his powers and while Asta's powers certainly have an interesting history and relationship with everyone else's abilities, I would say they still mostly apply them as strengthening techniques or a means to hit people really hard. I'll admit that Gear 5 changes that in luffy's case but gears 1-4 mostly boiled down to different ways to hit people really hard. In all fairness though, that's every member of the monster trio I guess. lol

Every creator hides little things in their stories that not many readers might pick up on, including Oda, Kishimoto, Kubo, even Toriyama. In fact, some readers can come to their own conclusions regarding themes and meanings that were never intended by the author, and are still completely valid. The stories are meant to be easily accessible because they need to appeal to a younger market than say the market for a Seinen mag like Weekly Young Jump or Weekly Magazine.

This might be true for yuji too but i haven't thought about him as much and his series isn't finished so we don't have the same knowledge of his endgame that we do for ichigo but maybe this will inspire you to see something for him too.
So as we find out ichigo wanted to become a translator. You can generalize it and say he wanted to get a normal job, family, house, etc. The usual stuff. Which means ignoring all the other reasons for him to fight his enemies he has to fight them because if he doesn't he can't achieve his goal. They will end the universe which would make it difficult to get a degree. So you can argue that actually his goal does motivate his actions just like luffy, naruto, etc. He has to beat them so he can achieve his goal.
The counterargument is that its not the same because his goal to become a translator or whatever isn't related to the enemies. If they didn't exist he wouldn't have to enter any conflict and he wouldn't use these powers and be thrust into this world. But consider this. If nobody except luffy wanted to become pirate king, he wouldn't fight them. His goal could be exactly the same and if you change the goals of the villains facing him then suddenly luffy has no reason to fight them they won't get in his way.
There would still be a reason for luffy to fight them though, if they do bad things like oppress a population and kill and mistreat others... which is a REACTIONARY reason to fight them. Ichigo would do the same. And it would be too long to go into it but a similar argument can be constructed for naruto. One thing i will say is that naruto was probably appointed hokage because of his feats in battle. Naruto didn't choose to make those enemies attack the village and kill innocents. He only fought against them when they attacked which is reactionary. But also ironically he would've had a lower chance of becoming hokage if no enemies attacked them.
What i'm trying to say is that pretty much all main characters are very reactionary. Ichigo is no different. anime fans are pretty unintelligent but im shocked how things like this have been said for well over a decade and nobody bothers to look at it logically.
Briefly on the topic of ichigo's powers, at least what we know so far. Kubo's problem is that he names every one of ichigo's moves the same thing when clearly they aren't. Look again at one piece. Zoro can have 2 sword swings that do the same thing and they will have different names so they are different moves. Now back to ichigo he has multiple variants of getsuga tensho but these are so different they shouldn't even all be called getsuga tensho they should have different names like juujisho.
There is: crescent shaped, flowy-wavy shaped, black, gold, the weird one he used in the recent episode against candice, the one against ulquiorra where he stores it in his blade to increase the power of his melee attacks, one where he fires it point blank, etc.
He's actually really creative with the limited tools he gets. Also the other problem is that kubo has ADHD and keeps making him lose powers as he goes along. He had mugetsu, cero, the fullbring pinwheel attack and more. But he didn't get to keep them. None of those are haxy of course but they are more moves which would've helped beat the one move allegations.

One of the biggest parts of Yujis character arc is accepting his true instincts, and what that means in the big picture. Yujis in this mess because he saves others without hesitation and he ate the finger of the king of curses to help someone he just met.
Unlike other MCs who are extremely compelled to save others, like deku, Yuji isn’t rewarded for his selflessness. In fact all it amounts to is recklessness.
Throughout the series until the shibuya incident Yuji is able to operate with a weak and unrealistic resolve, the minor times it’s tested being brushed aside. He could never fathom how curses did what they did.
Then shibuya happens and Yuji is nearly killed, has his body used by Sukuna to commit mass murder and forced to watch as Mahito kills 2 of his closest allys in front of him.
He breaks Yujis resolve and has him at his mercy, and only the arrival of Todo saves him. After telling Yuji he’d been entrusted with too much to die the fight became a 2 on 1 that peaked with a domain expansion taking todo out of the fight and allowing Mahito to achieve his true form and get a power up. If not for todo hitting s clutch distraction Yuji would have died there. Instead Mahito is faked out and Yuji hits a black flash with everything he has behind it, which leaves Mahito on deaths door.
The fight ends with Yuji telling Mahito “I’m you” and saying he no longer needed purpose or reason. He’s a cog in a Machine with the purpose of killing curses. He then says he’s gonna kill Mahito, and if he returns, changes his name, changes his form, he will kill him again. This causes Mahito to run for his life on his hands and knees while Yuji hunts him down like a predator.
Yujis only true goal was to protect his homies and die with them around him, with them smiling so he knew they lived good lives. He’s failed at that more often than not and it’s yet to be seen what he does to even the scales.

I fucking love those creators that actually give Bleach a chance by looking deeper than surface or actually understand it (even if they don't like Bleach) but there's barely any of them, Marks videos are great and I'm so glad he likes and understands the fullbring arc, DBZImran, Mrtommo, Tekking, are some others but compared to how many people look into op and Naruto it might aswell be noone(which I get is dramatic but like you gotta understand it's like 6 people compared to hundreds for the other series)

@@-canopus-513 bro it sounds like you're talking about Naruto, not Bleach 💀 everyone just hops on the hate bandwagon for the series saying that "Naruto isn't an underdog, he was given everything at birth, he's ninja jesus" or the infamous "talk no jutsu" which people use as a criticism of the series. "Naruto only uses talk no jutsu when he can't defeat an opponent by spamming Rasengan". Not to mention when people freeze on the frame of an episode with incredibly fluid animation, as proof that it supposedly has bad animation. One of the most viewed videos regarding an analysis on the Naruto series is "Naruto; the Self Made Hypocrite" where the guy makes dumb claim after dumb claim as to why the series is bad, making me wonder if he even watched it 😭 like idk why you're acting as if Naruto is loved by shonen fans, when fans of the series are called a term which combines Naruto with the r slur (yt keeps hiding my messages so I'm not gonna risk it and say it lol)
Tldr; Naruto very well gets treated poorly by people, just like Bleach. They can't start pulling off big moves from their asses randomly during their fights. These both characters do learn new moves from their training as the story moves on for example Ichigo learned Getsuga Jujisho after training at Soul Kings Palace, now if you look at White/Hollow Ichigo, you can clearly see how masterfully he uses the same sword that Ichigo holds but on the other hand, Ichigo can't use it closely as good as Hollow Ichigo bcuz he isn't a trained swords man!

Yeah, Ichigo doesn't have it easy, he struggles with his dark side, he is manipulated and at one point close ones turn off of him. But the fact that Yuji even wakes up everyday is something of a miracle for me, because he doesn't have an unce of loving family to help, his friends or mentors die one after one in front or not in front of him, the biggest threat and purest evil resides in him and takes pleasure in tormenting his mind from time to time as well as killing people (and himself) with Yuji's hands, if he messes up the punishment is literally death - his and everyone else's, than he learns that he's literally made by Kenjaku to be the perfect vessel for Sukuna, that his 'mother' was the most disgusting jujutsu sorcerer in a history and that he basically killed his brother with his own hands, he watches dozens of people suffer when changed by Mahito, who also doesn't spare him tormenting and cruelty, he's a wanted man among jujutsu society and he's left nearly completely alone for quite a bit of time after the Shibuya, all the loses, murders and no Gojo, the only saving being his newely obtained brother Choso. Like, is any protagonist on this level of tradegy and misery daily and generally? And he's still such a selfless, pure and sweet boy. It's rare for me to have a favourite in a protagonist but in JJK I can hands down say I love Yuji the most (although Gojo or Maki chase that no. 1 spot). After his last relative's dies, he just takes on this mission to save all the people possible and die the best possible death, while being such a cutie, so modest and devoted. Damn Jujutsu Kaisen, a legend in making.

My favorite aspect of Yuji as a character is how his personality and demeanor changes with the series. (SPOILERS BELOW)
In season 1, Yuji is a naive, if well intentioned teenager who has a step by step plan for how his time as a sorcerer is meant to play out. He made a choice to eat Sukunas finger, and thus will do his duty as the perfect vessel to incarnate the entirety of the king of curses within him before being executed. It’s not something he’s excited for nor particularly wants, but it’s a role he can accept. He doesn’t want to harm or kill others unnecessarily, nor does he particularly care for Jujutsu politics or grandstanding. He’s a formally “normal” kid who is now a sorcerer, and an untalented one at that. He has no innate technique and has no grand lineage he knows of. He’s playing the role of Sukunas vessel Because that’s something only HE can do.
Then, shibuya happens and Yujis entirely plan is torn away from him. Gojo is sealed, his execution is now immediate and Yuji is forced to rebuild his conviction after Sukuna and Mahito break every ounce of resolve he has. He is forced to take lives he considers human, his body is made to commit mass murder, and because of, in his own mind, his own weakness, some of his closest friends and ally’s are killed in front of him and he is forced to recognize that his instinct to save means nothing, and is no different than Mahitos instinct to kill.
Still, he pushes on, fully willing to die to take out even half of Sukuna once the plan to free Gojo is in action, only for that to fall apart as well, and he can only watch as a mistake he made months in the past leads to Sukuna taking the body of his best friend.
Now he has no true purpose other than to exorcise curses, but at the same time cannot compete without a technique of his own. He is forced to push forward, and find the strength within himself to help bring An end to the nightmare he believes himself to be responsible for.
He will kill without hesitation if it’s needed, especially in regards to curses, he will eat anything, take advantage of any and all opportunities he can in order to gain the power to kill the curse that is currently fighting his mentor, and will likely kill him while Yuji can do nothing but watch.
All the while, he believes he is the reason this is happening, that it all ties back to him alone, not knowing he’s been played as a pawn by a being who took the body of his dead mother to conceive him. He has been a pawn on a chessboard bearing the weight of a King in Check, not knowing he’s far from responsible for the tragedies that surround him.
I can’t wait to see how his story progresses, I want him to win more than I’ve ever wanted another MC to.
As for Ichigo, I just recently got into anime so if anyone can tell me where to watch bleach I’d appreciate it since it’s not on any of the streaming services I have

Ani Watch is good. They used to be called Zoro, but they recently rebranded. That's a place most people use and they have the most popular titles as well as less popular ones.

@6:54, "they really don't have any hacks", while my boi Ichigo literally embodying all the species and Yuji being born via Kenjaku controlled vayjayjay (probably) xD
