  • Hey All! This is my first time listening to Alice in Chains since Layne Staley passed away. I feel like this was a great intro to the post-Layne phase of AIC, as this song has a lot of the same elements I remember from back in the day. Loved it!

Thank you so much for doing this amazing song. Alice in Chains, keeping Seattle Grunge alive. And showing todays stars how rock music is *supposed* to be done!
    😇
Please do Your Decision by AiC next.

I figured you were just busy with things work related, sorry to learn you were sick, glad to see you on the mend Mike....I was in the same camp as you I guess when Layne passed, I just couldn't imagine AIC's without him, but I ain't gonna lie, this was pretty cool, but I'm still nervous and excited to hear more

Nice to see you. Hope you continue feeling better. I’m in the same boat, didn’t really listen after Layne. I had heard this one before and like it. That riff is so good.

Private Hell from the same album is fantastic, there are parts in the vocals I'm positive I hear Layne. Overall the new stuff is great, especially As Black Gives Way To Blue (the album) , I'm a bit meh on the follow but LOVE their most recent outing "Rainier Fog".

Wow Mike, sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well…had a bit of that myself, but over it now and hope you’re doing better too. This sounds pretty good to me, great vocals and harmonies. Interesting back story on it too. So good to have you back now, thanks Mike!

You should give songs from Jerry’s 2002 album degradation trip vol 1&2, it’s so fuckin dark and depressing but awesome. I’d recommend any of “hellbound” “pig charmer” “psychotic break” “bargain basement Howard Hughes” “anger rising”. The album was pretty much made when Jerry was in a really bad place pretty much the lowest he’s ever been but it made for some incredible music. Some lyrics as dark as any Alice lyrics like in a song like “feel the void”. Lot of AIC fans out there have never dug into Jerry solo stuff which is a shame because it’s great, especially deg trip 1&2 when Imo right up there with classic AIC stuff. Man is a genius songwriter, one of the best to do it. Anyway I appreciate you doing this song snd AIC, hope we get some more reactions to AIC or some Jerry in the future. Good stuff man

I’m a hardcore Chris Cornell fan. Love all of the bands he fronted equally but ironically I was a AIC fan before Soundgarden. I love Jerry Cantrell’s solo work as well. He’s got a new solo album out.

Hard not to love anything Chris Cornell does. I have heard songs here and there from his solo work, my favorite is probably Dead Wishes. You have any suggestions or requests for Chris Cornell's solo stuff, or Cantrell's?

@@Yeedeed I have to say As hope and promises fade (acoustic) is a favorite. I also like the acoustic version of Scream and the acoustic version of Audioslaves Wide Awake but it’s CC solo.

Good stuff man, this album is phenomenal front to back. Highly recommend other songs from this album like “a looking in view” which was their first post Layne song or “private hell” “last of my kind” “ acid bubble”. Jerry has been the primary songwriter for the band since it’s creation, he is the main singer in the majority of their new material as well. As long as he’s around writing and singing I think the band will be great. Also highly recommend songs from the other 2 post Layne album like “the devil out dinosaurs here” “hollow” “phantom limb” “the one you know” “pretty done”Some of those are up there with their best material, better than “check my brain” imo which is still really good

Jerry Cantrell one of the greatest guitar players of all time and barely plays anything technical. It’s all about tone, groove and harmonies in a uniquely written way.

DuVall does not replace Staley. Nor is he meant to.
Death happens. It sucks. All we can do is just keep chugging on.
Nobody ever replaced Randy Rhodes. Or Cliff Buton. Or half of Lynyrd Skynyrd either.
    Just have to move on.
