Hey James if you weld a piece of chain to those you can use a come along and pull them out keep up the good work brother and keep on trucking I think I would use the 8 bag cutoff you have for Betty would make a nice ride have a good one brother

Those old fifth wheel pins can be torture. They weld themselves in there.
Ya it sucked. Took a couple hours
Another way to attempt to remove those pins is weld a nut on them then put the impact on it to break the rust a nice big slide hammer would also help or a come along tied to the Folklift. If you like me, it's hard to think of these ideas when you are struggling with the heat. Still great job you got it done.

That fifth wheel pin was happy where it was and simply did not want to move.

Hi James looks like it came apart pretty hard. Got it tho. Hope you had the batteries switched off when you were welding got to be careful with ECM trucks. Can mess up the ECM. Didn’t see 11 was she hiding? Stay safe

Yep work a little at a time. Heat is brutal been 115 forever here in Arizona. Get up early and stay out until about 9 or so lol.😅

Good morning. Just sitting here in the dark with no power watching. We've been scorching hot here too last couple days in southern manitoba. I guess the obligatory thunder storm happened in the wee hours this morning, knocked out the power. Still raining, which is cool but would've rather it not be on my day off 😂

@JamesPretty it was out about 12 hours. Luckily it clouded over and rained mid afternoon gave us a little break from the heat. Got behind on the inside jobs but allowed me to get some outside jobs done.

Best way to do those pin on the turn table is block it up with bit wood if you can get one pin out easy then put a long bar through the hole and on to the other pin that way you can hammer the harder one out not tell you how to suck eggs of course but we have done a few of oĺder trucks with stuck pins it a tough job some times you keep fighting the good fight you win in the end
I searched thru all my pieces and couldn’t come up with anything rigid to use.

I like how that welder has the delay and keeps flowing gas after you stop welding. Our miller at work doesn't do that. Just our tig machine. Can't wait to see her rolling down the road with a load!

Heat the 5th wheel up around the pin so expand
I did. I thought it was more stuck in the bushing but nope just rusted in the fifth wheel

remove those pins and clean the grease off, use anti seeze on them, grease hardens over time, anti seeze will not. the struggle is real, never use a chain to pull on them, very bad idea.
ya I did consider anti seize but settled on grease. I might just pop them out and switch
