So the owners would rather it stays in a field and rot than selling it to you? But are happy for you to fix it for free? And store it for them for free? I can see you genuinely care about the history behind the bus which is why you are doing what you are doing but the owners seem to be taking you for a ride which is sad 😔 if they cared at all for the bus they would sell it to you at a heavy discount for the work you have already put into it

Great job! You can take a length of heavy pipe or box tube a few meters long and drop a chain through it, leaving just enough to hook it up. Then hook up the chain between the vehicles to something solid, wiring the hooks to keep them from coming loose. This makes a poorman's tow bar that will push or pull. Just hook it short on the ends so it doesn't push back into something critical.

The day my parents sold it and the new owners drove it away, I was inconsolable. Apparently it was to make it's way to Portugal, but I have no idea if it did or where it is now.
My parents would take it to the odd fair and festival but it was mainly static whilst they built/converted our new home. When ever I step into one of these classic split cab buses, it feels like a home coming to me. ❤️

Oh wowowow! I have driven by that bus many times over the years and sometimes pointed it out to passengers casually then noticed once day it was gone. Just clicked on the thumbnail and as soon as it was shown at 01:05 recognised the bus immediately. That's awesome, great work chaps.

Kind of remembers me of when once thought to myself: "Uh, it won't hurt if I just left the car unlocked for a minute in front of my own house, I'll be back in no time..." And then a tramp sat in it smoking and burning the carpet.

I really enjoyed this video. As a "geezer from the smoke", I remember with joy as a boy who used to travel on the route 123 from Ilford to Manor House on Saturdays to see my gran. Always got the upper deck front seats. Good old RM's.

They are inherently extremely resilient. There’s a big thud though as the rear brakes in-seize. That’s the only place they get very stuck. 👍

I reckon if you live long enough you will rescue every Routemaster ever made or at least made certain that every one made contributed at least one part to the ones which remain….and so…they all do live!

I like your commitment and doggedness in chasing down that bus. Great work Pete, from Canada! We Used to have a bunch of old double deckers here but time took them away. Tourist use , replaced by newer buses. Cheers, keep up the saving the old ones!
