The Most Iconic Restaurant In Every State | 50 State Favorites
In every one of these god damn videos whenever they say my state I never know what the hell they're talking about cause no one ever hears about these places.
Ikr never even heard of the Washington one
@@mikehoncho2149 really? My friends and I all LOVE Beechers! That’s so surprising!
I mean, I think Ivar’s is kinda more iconic
And then you get NJ with Carlos's bakery from food network... which is... fair but it isn't that good.
@@mikehoncho2149 Beechers has the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. Oh, and btw, I’m from Wisconsin
I love how almost everyone in the comment section disagrees with the video.
Well yeah, cause its wrong XD
Its Food Insider, they just need to put out easy content, who has the time to actually fact check them.
Like, PA Being a restaurant that I doubt most people from PA know, its bullshit.
Primanti Brother's is more iconic than that, it is a must visit when you go to Pittsburgh
Tbh I live in illinois... Jean and jude is really good. They got some correct
I was surprized there was only 2 places that served testicles on their list. Lol
I already disagreed and all i did was read the title. PUH-LEASE!
@@TheScienceNerd100LoL, I’m from Georgia and I’ve never even heard of Busy Bee

When I come to the U.S i'll ask to y'all guys where should i go. I knew dis reporters didn't know shit
Illinois here.
Gene and Judes is actually worth visiting, but I do agree that there are much better places, especially in Chicago.
Actually I live in Utah and crown burger is a favorite for tourists and locals, especially the one in downtown slc.
Dreamland is actually really good tho
The title said “iconic”, not “the best”
As a Colorado native I can tell you no one actually eats Rocky Mountain oysters. Except for tourists.
The best restaurant in my opinion is Quincy's. Leadville, Salida and Buena Vista

Wait I just wanna know how long this took 😂
How many times is Idaho gonna have PoTaTo IcE cReAm as their favorite food?
Yes! I was just about to say something about that!
No kidding.
Apparently the world thinks that Idaho only has potatoes
Hi
I am in Idaho
I HAVE NEVER HAD potato ice cream
@@reesem8267 It's just vanilla with cocoa powder (you could probably use Nesquik or something too). I'm sure you could make it at home if you wanted to try it.
People make us Idahoans out to be some potato obsessed population
Hands down the most iconic restaurant in Colorado is simultaneously the worst; Casa Bonita.
The Buckhorn is legendary but casa Bonita is indeed iconic and what I was expecting from this video
Yes thank you
If you don't have a diving show on site, is your restaurant really iconic?
You mean the restaurant owned by the dudes who made South Park?
No, seriously. Look it up. They actually own it now.
@@jeromeycurran7657 love the buckhorn. Had a killer elk steak there and even tried, but couldn’t stomach, the oysters.
For Nebraska, they basically say: the burgers are so special because they’re cooked
At least it’s not Runza again.
Bro they could at least gone with like omaha steaks
Yes I had to google where stellas was even at , never heard of it
does anyone else not know what the restaurant in their state is? 🙋🏽♀️
yeah I've lived in Georgia my whole life and never heard of the Busy Bee
i never hered of leons frozen custerd in wisconsin
as a nashvillian I have heard of prince's hot chicken
someone from oahu I also feel the same but
to be frank there's quite a few iconic restuarants
for example
>waiohole poi factory
> zippys (iconic because the plantation days)
> romys or kahuku shrimp truck
> and then probably some really good shave ice :V
> oh and tanaka saimin or some type of saimin resturant
>and so many more
but my point is that theres alot of iconic resturants withing each state lowkey though wish they did something else
I swear on everything I lived in Michigan for all my life and NOBODY TALKING ABOUT “ buddy’s pizza” this video is a major scam
It’s literally like the same 50 videos over and over again 😂
but we also watch them over and over lol
Thats the point... Recycling content
They’re all *if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it*
@@moneyshark_0872 Yes, because it's pandemic and we don't have things to do anymore. xD
As a native Oregonian, nobody I know actually likes Voodoo. The locals tend to go to the places where the food is worth the hassle.
The pedophiles LOVE it.
I was born and raised in Oregon and I've never heard of it until now 😭
Real Oregonians will skip voodoo and get blue star instead
I live in Illinois and have known many people who have visited VooDoo's in Oregon and they ALL have said their donuts suck ass. They really don't look that appealing to me. 🤷🏻♂️
@@Seralemar84 yeah they're not very good I don't know how they got popular
Glad to see that Puerto Rico was included as a bonus 🏝!
Theres no way Pinks hotdogs is the most "iconic" restaurant in California when I've never heard about it. Just say In n Out and everyone's happy.
💯 It's definitely In N Out
As the other lady said In N Out is the most iconic. We moved out of state and that is the only one I hear about.
Edit; Just asked my Mom and she has never heard of it and she had spent her whole life up to 55 yrs. Old, born and raised Californian. So if she has never heard of it, it is NOT iconic. She also says it's In N Out.
@mac camp just because it’s been around forever doesn’t mean it’s “iconic” or a staple, Donald Trump was in office for too long and he’s not iconic.
@@aidenhasani3628 there has to be atleast one person that brings politics into a conversation. OrAnGe MaN bAd.
Also California is really too big and populated to pin down to one restaurant in LA. The biggest population center is the bay area which is like 375 miles from LA. In n out is at least spread across the state and much more ubiquitous.
There's no way Carlo's Bakery is the most iconic. Jersey is known for its diners, not some bakery that makes outdated looking cakes.
I agree with you.
Bingo!
Exactly!
so what one place would u say then?
Big facts Carlo’s Bakery is dog shit
Non-Utahns always mention crown burger as Utah's restaurant, but if you actually knew anything about Utah, you would know that it is actually Cafe Rio.
I’m from Utah, and I can confirm that Crown Burgers is spectacular. I’ve been going consistently with friends and family since I was a kid. I almost hate to say it, but I think they got this one right.
Yep crown burger is an all time favorite on my list.
Totally. I thought it would be Red Iguana but I’m happy with what was chosen.
I actually was driving home back to Texas when I was in Utah cause I had to go to my cousins funeral, and I came across a crown burger. And idk why, but I felt like it was a must that I try it. And holy crap I’m so glad I did. So so so good
why is no one talking about the fact that the buck place is litterally serving bambies deep fried balls
Goddammit you got me Jesus Christ that's a good line. you have no business being that funny in the youtube comment section
Bull balls, not deer...
There is actually an iconic restaurant in Montana that sells rocky mountain oysters as well. Funny as heck to get my mom to try them. She's vegetarian.
wait until you find out there's a whole festival about it
@@marianaesparzatorres9459 They're actually a decent flavor. Especially when dipped in ranch. It's kind of like a joke that went too far and now it is genuinely iconic.
I am from PA and i would say Primanti Brothers is the most Iconic Iconic restuarant in Pennsylvania!
Never heard of it
@@jonpendragon2066 oh, its a sandwich place known big i. Pittsburgh. Its actually really good. They have pizza, sandwiches, wings, fries!
Easily, they’re all over the state at this point.
Isn't that a chain? We have one here and it sucks in Indianapolis.
It was until it became a chain...
I like how there is "cattleman's steakhouse"
And then there is "cattleman's club steakhouse"
As I'm a Thai and not many foreign (especially Asian) restaurants made the list, I'm super surprised and proud to see Lotus of Siam 5:58 being included among other legendary places. Would love to eat there one day to see if their food tastes like what I have here in Thailand.
I'm from Washington state and honestly, Dicks burgers is more iconic than that cheese place in my opinion.
Agreed but the cheese taste better in my opinion
@@eirelavmai only their mac and cheese. The curds are an abomination.
Dicks is a good choice. I assumed it would be Ivar's.
@@HouseOfHuli I’m a big fan of their New Woman and Marco Polo cheeses, Flagship is good too. I’ve never had their curds.
@@eirelavmai where is this place even at?
I thought Georgia’s would’ve been chick fil a or the varsity
I’m surprised it wasn’t the varsity
For Georgia it should be the Varsity, It is my favorite restaurant, I live in Massachusetts and I would go to Georgia just to eat there. I never get shirts from restaurants but because I enjoyed it so much I got one. I ordered 3 orders of fries for myself. I could eat there everyday if I wouldn’t get fat.
Definitely thought The Varsity or The Big Chicken (KFC)
Its chick fil a in my opinion
Absolutely The Varsity
Not sure how much I trust Insider with one of these types of videos, something tells me they'd focus less on food and more on Instagram-ability than anything else 😂
In truth, Missouri should have been represented on this list by Lambert's Cafe. Great menu full of comfort/American cuisine, generous portions and table-side served sides like fried okra and tomatoes & macaroni, and they are the "Home of the Throw'd Roll"; a tradition that dates back to Lambert's early years, when the rolls were so popular, they couldn't serve them out of the kitchen fast enough. So, the servers started throwing them to the patrons at their tables, even ones all the way across the dining room!
As a fellow missouri dweller, I completely agree
Yep. Kansas City is on the list twice. Kansas City has barbecue . . . and that’s IT. My grandma is from Sikeston, and I live in StL. My childhood was filled with road-trips to Lambert’s.
Every state's favorite breakfast food
I swear that ice cream potato place in Idaho is on every Food insider video that ranks every states foods.
Salt lick is pretty damn good but I wouldn’t say it’s the most iconic bbq in the entire state
Especially since Texas IS the bbq state
What's better in roundrock for bbq? Or anywhere near Austin?
49 other states: great local restaurant you need to try!
New Jersey: cAkE bOsS
Ok we get it Maryland loves crabs but does not mean that every video has to include something with crab...honestly there are so many well known staples in Maryland,I actually did not even know that place but that could just be me
I know right? I live there and don’t even like crab. 🦀
@@a_random_person1253 same with me
I agree with the pick. MD is nationally associated with crabs and most Baltimoreans consider Faidley's to have the best crab cakes.
Yea I never heard of that place
I said the same exact thing. I’ve never heard of that place and no one from MD eats crabs as much as they keep saying. They should have said Ledo’s Pizza or America’s Best Wings.
I think it’s cool that you covered a US territory like Puerto Rico. It would be really interesting to cover the other US territories in the videos as well. For instance, a lot of people are not familiar with Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the US Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
US Virgin Islands Skinny Fats?
I love how both Missouri and Kansas are still just places located in Kansas City since KC exists in both. Gotta love that state line bbq.
Charcoal Pit! I ate there many times when I was a kid. Would always order the grilled cheese with one milkshake to share amongst my family. Looking forward to going back there in the future.
I love how the world is filled with little gems like these that aren't huge chain restaurants their just the best honestly. So much love goes into all these buisness.
But the video title isn't "best". It's "iconic". Iconic isn't necessarily the best -- it's what most people associate with the state. The restaurants listed might be really good & worth a trip (gods know I've bookmarked this vid for if we ever make it to these places), but "iconic"? Not when so many commenters are going "who?"

@@zenfrodo lol seriously. Good and iconic are not synonyms. 🤣
All the amazing spots in jersey and they go to that stupid bakery because it had a reality show. Cmon guys.
Tbf their pastries are really good
We could've gotten White Manna at least. :/
The worst bakery of all too.
His cakes aren’t even that good. He spends more time making them look good than actually making them taste good
exactly
I'm from the DMV (D.C, Maryland and Virginia) and I've never heard of the three restaurants mentioned in the video
I’ve heard of bens chili bowl tho
@@emmiekolker5599 Yeah, can't avoid not hearing about it around here, Barack Obama ate there. Good greasy food after drinking too much kinda place.
I agree with the choice for Louisiana, 100%, but it's not your just average chicory coffee, it's called café au lait. Which is half coffee and half milk. Absolutely beautiful ❤️.
I have lived in Virginia my whole life and I have never heard of Riverside Lunch 🙄
The fact that VA only took 1 second shows that riverside lunch is not it for VA
It's in Charlottesville, and it really is famous for its burgers and fries.
I’ve been here since 2011, never heard of it either!
@@yoluse really? I have no idea where?

I'm from Maryland and I've never heard of Faidley's. The more iconic Maryland restaurant I would've gone with would be the Greene Turtle, or if it has to be a one-off type of restaurant then maybe G&M
as a life long Illinoisan i have never heard of gene and jude's. here in the prairie state its all about that PORTILLOS!!!!!
Life long Illinoisan here as well. I can assure you, Gene and Jude's is the greatest hot dog in the world. It's just outside the city limits of Chicago. If you live outside of Chicagoland, I can see why you've never heard of it.

all the amazing restaurants in NJ and YALLL PICK CAKE BOSS?!?
Whats wrong with cake boss?
Of all the amazing places just in Hoboken!
Right I am not even from NJ and I was heated!
Ya'll remember when he got pulled over for drunk driving and he shouted at the cops that they couldn't arrest him because he was the "Cake Boss"? Good shit.
Lifelong Alaskan here: I don't know anyone who would call Club Paris their first choice. I don't even know anyone who has eaten there. All I know is whenever people are celebrating a special occasion or want to have a big get-together, they always suggest Moose's Tooth. It's the go-to
no its not, its your go to
A lot of these may not be accurate, but I'm just happy to learn about restaurants from both states I've been to but never heard about and states that I haven't been to. Good food is good food.
Just living vicariously here in Canada...
Same
Most of us from the US are living vicariously as well. Not many of us are familiar with our state's "Most Iconic" restaurant. lol
el pinto is iconic I guess and they sell their salsa at grocery stores, but frontier is the iconic restaurant of the people. cheap and delicious and open late
True that, Ese!
El Pinto is where you take out-of-town visitors for a “taste of New Mexico” but don’t want to scare off chilé first-timers.
I remember going to the Charcoal Pit when I had to visit my doc in Wilmington for a routine checkup for my hypothyroidism... I absolutely loved the Charcoal Pit.
You could easily argue Frank Pepes in Connecticut. I’m pretty sure that was the first place to sell pizza in America
or like. Mystic Pizza. The restaurant that they based a Julia Roberts movie that sells incredibly popular merch that I see at least once a week. And has decent pizza
As a Washingtonian, I say Pike’s Place in general is iconic. But they really overlook the Eastern side of the state like it doesn’t exist (where I live). We have some iconic eats on the East, too!!! Pizza Pipeline from Spokane is one of them!
Iconic in Spokaloo... Dicks :D

As a Pennsylvanian, I’m alway disappointed when I watch these kinds videos. It’s always a Philly cheesesteak. PA has some great food that’s not in Philadelphia.
Same with Maine. It's not all lobster or seafood. We have awesome food. And our iconic places are some old old places that generations had gone to. And even tho the menus changed they still have a few of the original dishes and recipes. Like their loaded Maine breakfast. Our grandparents made this for us growing up and so did everyone else but the best place to go for it is Becky's diner if your grandparents don't wanna cook or u don't know how to lol. It's filling. Stick to your ribs kind of food to get u thru a winter day. Hopefully this food insider will get some new facts
Primanti bros, man. Iconic PA restaurant.
Yeah it's kind of anticlimactic watching when you know what they'll pick beforehand. Everyone already knows the cheesesteak, so talk about something else.
I agree. Same for my state, California. It's always some restaurant in L.A. And every restaurant looks like some fad that a bunch of trust fund L.A teens would hang out at and post on their instagrams. Am I wrong??

Indiana’s is on point 👍🏼 they even mention St. Elmo’s on the show Parks and Recreation.
I’m in Utah and I can confirm that I love Crown Burger.
Wrong! Even as an Austinite, people don’t really talk about Salt Lick. Everyone in Austin knows Franklin’s. Before Covid, Franklin’s had a 3-hour wait for a reason!
Wrong it's Whataburger

Do Europeans not like burgers, pomme frites, seafood, and cheeses? :p
@@em_birch we have 50 countries, each with a distinctive cuisine. That's called fast food here.

This video alone included many things that weren't straight up hamburgers. But you took what you wanted to from it. Again, to fuel your distaste.
@@em_birch you make baseless assumptions. This video shows mostly those types of dishes. Simple observation. I know what American cousine consists of, believe me. I like cooking international dishes and have gone through some documentaries, recipes, history of different states etc. It's mostly a joke at how everything "American" always rings of those types of food. Overly fatty, sugary etc. It's also my mom's observation from her time there but that's beside the point.
It's almost a running joke between us here that when you see something just overly... Greasy, sweet etc it's the "american" version. No offense in that. Just like saying when someone is tall they're Dutch or a very elegant thing is French.

@@about_average8808 I live less than an hour away from Chicago and my mom takes me to the city all the time.
@@maddyw22_ its closer to O'Hare. It's technically in the neighborhood of Chicago but that's also huge af
I'm from illinois.. I've been there it's really good prob better than portillos. It's small so they don't franchise as much so that's prob why it's not well known
I live in Chicago too my whole life I would say the most iconic is probably Lou Malnatis. I’ve never heard of Gene and Judes!
Lifetime Washingtonian here, and I can say that Ivar’s and/or Dick’s burgers are more iconic.
Yep. And Beecher's isn't even the most "iconic" around Pike Place Market, it's Pike Place Crowder.
@@johnmcnulty2705 Yeah so true. Beechers Mac and cheese isn’t even that good. Even mine is better tbh.
YOU WORK FOR 40YRS TO HAVE $1M IN YOUR

Cootie Browns are n TN, just for that key lime pie!
They did us right with Prince's. It kicked off a worldwide trend.
You should colab with cooking with jack
The ONE TIME I’m proud for what they show for Utah.
I really thought it'd be the first kfc
@@janelane1912 me too honestly, I thought it would either be crown burgers or KFC. I understand why they didn’t do it, KFC is v famous now. They were going for something mostly only residents would know abt.
Tired of being known for Jello?
I used to live in Nebraska and went to Stellas all the time. One of the best burgers ive ever had hands down.
Been in South Carolina for close to 50 years. Work often in the city of charleston. I enjoy fine dining but what you say is the most iconic restaurant in my state, I have never even heard of.
One of the few advantages to living in Alabama is always being first on the list 😂 Excellent choice in Dreamlands. For 7 glorious years I lived a block away from Dreamlands and it was honestly the happiest time of my life lol
I agree. Dreamland was spot on - I will always miss dipping the bread in that sauce 🤧
@@lwell5551 I dont know where you're located now but some stores sell the sauce. I just got some from my local Publix. I of course got a loaf of sunbeam too 😁
I’m from Texas and I’ve never even heard of “Salt Lick”
It's south of Austin. It's popular in the area. It's pretty good but there is better bbq.
Then you’re broken. But, it should have been Franklin‘s
@@CalebHammerComposer I agree to both parts of that statement
It’s alright, I actually like their seasoning the best, they have at HEB. Salt lick is in driftwood Texas
@@CalebHammerComposer is broken for being rude.
For Illinois I’m shocked it isn’t Portillo’s we take hot dog and chocolate cake very seriously 🍫🍰😋
fr! i’ve never heard of the place they put there lol
I've been to gene and Judes. It's smaller than portillos but the food is way better. I've been to both. Portillos Is more available but Gene and Judes taste better imop. I can see your point/opinion though
Chick fil A is crazy popular in my general area. They are all very very packed all of the time, but the line moves so fast!! Everyone loves Chick Fil A, and I can tell why.
I know RI is a small state but damn. I had to keep rewinding just to catch our ten seconds of fame. 😂
lol. And I can’t believe they showed that disgusting looking pizza to represent us. We have amazing food and that does NOT showcase it.
I lived my first 9 years in Alaska and then grew up in Iowa. I have never heard of Club Paris or the Iowa one whose name I don't even remember now. For Alaska I would probably have said the Pagoda in North Pole it was featured on the Food Network. And for Iowa probably Zombie Burger. This video is a total tourist trap!
Yup. Fong’s has two restaurants I think-one in Cedar Rapids now, but I’ve only lived here for about five years. Zombie Burger is spectacular but sadly seems to be dying out. Surprised they hadn’t said Maid Rite.
Fong's is really good with their weirdo pizzas but I totally agree. It's definitely not the most iconic.
every time i see one of these videos I click on it, excited to hear about something cool in my state, and every time it's a place or thing i've never heard of so i think it's made up lol
I can honestly see buddys being the restaurant in michigan i like it i mean i dont really like crunchy crusts but it is very popular here to go out to eat
Do one checking out chocolate. Around the world
they did that here's the link czcams.com/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/video.html
ohio's is skyline. i've literally never heard of camp washington chili
I was about to say that. I’ve never seen or heard of that place lmao
Grew up in NW Ohio. Dad brought home Skyline at least a couple times a year and everyone knows it. I'd also put Tony Packo's as pretty iconic for Ohio. Never heard of the place they mentioned.
Literally what I was thinking. Lived in Ohio all my life and this video was the first I ever heard of “camp washington.” Skyline is the clear answer here.
Go to Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City on Brooklyn Avenue for the BBQ and the sauce. (You can order the sauce online.) Both are outstanding. But also, go for the experience. Founders Charley and Arthur Bryant always referred to it as a "grease house." At Noon, there will usually be a line on the sidewalk. In the line and inside you will see bankers, construction workers, lawyers, police and firemen, doctors, nurses, hourly laborers, politician and any other type of occupation. You go through the line order and get your food, then find an empty table and or empty chair. Lots of napkins are a must.

I don't understand why people complain, it's not like most states have a big notable restaurant in them. It's whatever the people at Food Insider liked when they went for the most part.
I watched from the beginning to the end : it shows American cuisine style: the fast food
Same!
Salt Lick? Really? Born and raised Texan and there are so many more central Texas style BBQ joints that are better.
True Whataburger is the best restaurant in Texas fast food restaurant
Texan here as well, even Franklin's would have been a more popular choice of this.
Yes, Franklin’s Barbecue. BEST IN TX
Salt Lick is the old baby boomer fav.
blacks or kreuz’s
Yea I prefer opies BBQ over salt lake idk if you’ve heard of opies though
Been to the ones in Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas. Now, I wanna do em all
I’ve lived in New Mexico my whole life and I’ve never even heard of El Pinto. Should have been La Plazuela, it’s a restaurant in the oldest hotel in the oldest state capital! Also the food is amazing.
