Why is this version of basketball so much more interesting than what the 3pt nonesense we are being served nowadays
Because this was real competitive basketball with defence and tactics not just three point contest
Utah was known as a methodical half court team in the late 90s but they could run the floor with the best in the late 80s early 90s
There were a good number of really great players on these teams.

John Stockton won this one on one matchup in the passing and defensive departments. Stockton was able to generate at least 71 points by scoring 23 points and 24 assists. To put it into perspective, Stockton generated 65.1% of the Jazz's points. This was the first glimpse of Utah becoming competitive with both John Stockton and Karl Malone.
Yes he won,but Lakers had much better team.Malone and Worthy almost same maybe Malone slightly better.Scott much better than Hansen,Green better than Lavaeoni and Kareem better than Eaton.

Here we have a Utah team with basically no depth (seriously, look at their minutes distribution in this series) pushing the Showtime Lakers to the brink.
Yes you could see consequences iff going to the NBA finals in the strong 80s every year.They were not same team like in 87.You could see they barely beat Pistons also and next year Pistons sweap tham.And Kareem was 40.

The only point guard who can have a comparison with Magic that is not laughable is Bob Cousy
i was a Jazz and Stockton fan but geesh Stockton was getting these calls back then ?! . . into the 90s he wasnt getting those same calls ( i watched all 90s Jazz) .
This kind of explains why sooo many times in the 90s he would drive but not get any call. 🤔
Hmm .. but both teams were getting alot of foul calls that just werent there .
Its like they were trying to slow down both teams.
Both teams were playing PHeNOMENAL basketball.
The refs were calling too many fouls.. because the defensive of both teams were playing almost perfectly and not really fouling.. but trying for every possesion.
It would be EXTREMELY great to them play in a series where the refs arent from the nba . . . you would have seen a true basketball clinic. geesh.
