I just went to an interview today two hours ago and i just got the call that i’m hired! This will be my first job! for the past two days i have been watching almost all of ur videos and they’ve helped me to prepare and feel super confident! So thank you soo much!
In some ways, job interviews are pointless. People come in with rehearsed, practiced answers to questions and you don’t get to see their true work ethic, behavior, and personality until they have been in the position for a bit.
I guess the real benefit is weeding out the people who are unwilling to even dance correctly to the music, as it were. Your point is why companies have 90 day probationary periods before you are a full hire.
I'd agree, especially if the questions an interviewer asks are coming from a script that you've heard in every interview and everybody repeats the same answers. But, I have rarely run into an interview with hiring managers asking the exact same questions. Yes, the recruiter will come in with the basics, but the hiring manager should be asking specific questions that will prompt responses that will show not only the skills but the culture fit of the person. And, you as the interviewed, should be asking similar questions to see if you fit. If you have a family and want to only work your scheduled time, but find out everybody seems to work well past their scheduled time, this might not be the place for you.
Edit: I agree I never prepare for interviews no more unless I need to do research or do more than one interview! For now on, Im just gonna practice these kind of questions on mt friends😆
There were some job interviews that I was on, I didn't have to say much and still got the job. Then there were other job interviews, it didn't matter what I said, I was not going to get the job.
new healthcare workers: one thing to say for a weakness is saying you are a new grad or new to the field however you are eager to learn new skills. This is good because you address the elephant in the room that you're new and may not have had this position before ( new RN). And then you can add the little line of you're eager to learn. I then asked based on this interview if there was anything they were hesitant about and they said "just the lack of experience" and I was able to again reiterate that I am eager to learn and look forward to obtaining new skills.
Cass-THANK YOU. I have goosebumps typing this. I'm 52, and haven't been on/to a legit interview since shoulder pads were in fashion. I binged your videos/listened while walking in the park. I had stories in mind to apply to behavioral questions, I had practiced 'tell me about yourself' and I was completely at ease with the screener. Who turned out to be the only person I would talk to!! I asked the hard question too. I was offered the entry level job of a LIFETIME!!! There is opportunity to get training and move up the ladder-in any direction I want. It is all there for me. I have friends who work there and attest it really IS a dream employer. I was so much better prepared thanks to your videos. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you Cass! For the people who are watching this video, I encourage you to pause the video once Cass asked the question - so you get to think for it yourself first, and see how effective your answer is!
This is great advice. As an employer, I use variations of some of these questions. I find it refreshing when my candidate doesn’t bend over backwards trying to avoid admitting they don’t know. As a matter of fact, in the past six months, I’ve hired staff based on their honesty and directness. They didn’t know some of the applications we use, but through their answers to other questions, I knew they would easily learn. They are now two of my top workers on my team, far outpacing some of the people who have been there longer. Never be afraid to admit you don’t know. If your new employer values knowledge, they will empower you to get it. Good luck out there! Cass, keep up the awesome work!
I GOT THE JOB!!! Thank you Cassandra!! I watched a bunch of your videos before my TWO interviews with the company and I just got an email of acceptance Aaaaaaa
So I watched your video's for 4 days in a row. I had a video interview and made it to round 2 and the Manager hired me on the spot!! Your video's are so great, keep up the good work! Bye the way, I like your hair!
I had one of the most important interviews of my life a couple days ago. It was also my first ever "formal" interview so you could imagine how nervous I was. I watched every single one of your videos, asked the uncomfortable question and KICKED ASS!!! The coronel who interviewed me was so impressed and excited for my future. THANK YOU!
Hey Cass! I just wanted to express my gratitude to you. I am job searching for the first time in 5 years and I didn't prepare for my first interview and bombed it horribly. After consuming your content, practicing, trusting myself and my experiences, I just landed a high paying job in my dream state of California. Thank you so much for your content! It still feels surreal!
In case anyone is curious, the empire state building is 443 meters tall and a penny is 1.52 mm thick, so it would take roughly 2,914,474 pennies (rounded up to the nearest whole number), this assumes you count the antenna. If you dont, its only 381 meters tall and it would take only 2,506,579 pennies, saving you 408,395 pennies, or $4,083.95. Your welcome.
I just had my phone interview this morning and used your tips. I asked the hard question and immediately she and the other interview said that they didn't!!! I'm so excited! I should hear something back by the end of the week! Thank you!!!!
I'm going to an interview later today, and I have been watching your videos all morning. I'm really nervous, but I'm preparing. Although we haven't had ink in our printer for months, so guess who has no resume? I did take photos of it, and am going to offer to send the interviewer an email afterwards.
I just had a zoom meeting Interview and I GOT THE JOB!!! all thanks to this video I was so nervous at first but she asked me the questions you had went over so the interview so it was a PIECE OF CAKE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I looked up this question after my interview based on the Empire State Building question. I was the only one so far in all of their interviews to answer correctly. Although I answered correctly I looked up the answer afterwards and sent the answer to the person that interviewed me and got a call that night from him very excited that I answered correctly. They still have many interviews left and I’m still nervous 😂. But I believe I nailed the interview. Also got the willing to fail question
Use metric not imperial, and use scientific notation. It makes the numbers a lot easier when you're just shifting powers of 10 around in a base 10 unit system.
I had an interview where the employer asked the tell me about yourself question but after I answered it they told me they were looking to know about myself personally. They wanted to know something that wouldn’t be on my resume and it really threw me.. I wasn’t sure how personal to get or what exactly they wanted to know. I think that question largely depends on the employer or the person interviewing you
It does, but you should always answer professionally first, but have some personal information queued if they want it. I've been on many interviews where they ask if I'm a fan of some sport or specific team. Since I have moved around a lot, where I live is not necessarily a team I grew up watching...or a sport I'm interested in. However, I understand this question is trying to find out personal information. An example of how I covered this would be a time I was on an interview in the Milwaukee area and the hiring manager asked if I was a packer fan. Well, I am a fan of a different team in the division, but I don't want to turn off the manager by saying I am s fan of a rival team. So, I'll do one of two things. I'll either say I'm a fan of football, but I don't root for a specific team. And then mention something about a player in their team like "Rodgers really lit it up last season". To show I have some knowledge of the sport. The other is to go opposite. I'll say I'm not really into football, I'm really a hockey fan (which I am). This is what I said to the interviewer in Milwaukee and it must have worked as I was offered the job. Now, whether you like a sports team or if you like kayaking shouldn't have a bearing in if you're qualified for the job nor should it prevent you from getting it. However, something personally interesting might stick out between to very similar qualified candidates. An interviewer might remember something about the applicant with a similar interest over someone that didn't provide any details about themselves. Again, this depends on if they asked for those personal interests.
I went into my interview very confident thanks too you ! I literally watched everyone of ur videos that would help me and I got the job ! My very first job so thank you so much they hired me on the spot 💙🙌🏽
Im in a job search and I appreciate your videos!! Questions I recently wasn't prepared for were "Tell me 5 words about yourself" ---- and "what do you like least about your last job." Pretty sure I bombed those, after 4 words I drew a blank! And then I BASICALLY said I didn't LOVE expense reports and thats a big part of the job - LOL! oops !
Back in November 2020, I started searching for video support to prepare for an upcoming promotional interview. I've been involved in several of these, both giving and receiving. Then, I came across your videos. Specifically: a) The ULTIMATE GUIDE to TOP 10 Interview Questions and Answers, b) Interview Tips: How to Answer What are your Strengths?, and c) Questions to ask at the End of the Interview / Career Interview Tips. I watched with great interest and practiced. I don't know if it was just the videos, the peer support I reached out for, the preparation to assume this role, or a combination of all three. But I think without the video input, I may not have performed to my full potential. Needless to say, it all worked. The promotional list was posted yesterday and I'm on the top. I'm waiting for the job offer. I'm so happy you posted these, and that I was able to find them. Your style is easy, informative and supportive. Got the job !! He never asked one of these questions. However I did add to my conversation some of the pointers you suggested. This video gave me ALOT better understanding and more confidence. Thanks
I have an interview today, in a couple hours! I’m at the final round and I’ll be speaking with 4 people.. Thanks for your videos, they have been helpful for my interview prep!
Hi dear, thank you once again, got the job, I interviewed for, it was given to a more experienced person and was give another position that I didn’t know existed, but I love it
This is fantastic! Reviewing for a promotion at work and wanted to brush up on my interview skills as that will be a part of the promotion! Thanks so much!
I just wanted to tell you that after watching your videos AND asking the hard interview question I got the job!!! Thank you for all your help and prep!
fun fact in a practice interview my business teacher asked me the empire state building question, me and one other student knew a ticket to the top of the building is like 20 bucks and he asked about quarters so we answered 80 quarters. he was very impressed.
I think that something you should say in like a restaurant job if your introverted is "I'm more introverted but I think this job will help me kind of talk to people and be less introverted"
Honestly, if I was interviewing for Google and they asked me how many pennies high is the ESB, I'd totally just say "No idea bro, let me Google it real quick!"
Ive loved this video . I am normally terrified in an interview. I have been just recently in the past five minutes in a interview that i just rambled on. i have been to the point where i know what they mean but my answers just ramble i would love to get it to the point where i would just like to have quick straight to the point answers and make it easier for a job interviee to explain to me that yes that is what i am looking for . i have hated my job for the past 3 years and would love help on how to make it easier for me to get a job with someone that shows that i am the best person for the job. i know that you are supposed to sell yourself but i believe that being truthful and honest with a person is a much better way to go. Im scared that i completely just bombed this interview and would love new tips on how to ace the next one. in your hands and awaiting your wonderful words of wisdom thank you for your videos and thank you for your time
Hey! I have to say you are an absolute LIFESAVER as I'm applying for a job, and if I hadn't found this channel I would definitely be losing that job opportunity (I had everything planned out and they all were very bad plans). However, I do have a question when it comes to the "Tell me about yourself" question. I am only 14 and applying for a job at Chick-Fil-A, and this will be my first job. I was wondering how you answer that question if you have no prior work experience!
If an interviewer asked me the eggs question, I'd for sure know that I didn't want to work for them. How demeaning and petty to use your authority in that manner.
Fantastic information yet again, thank you so much! I interviewed for a Project Manager position with a major tech company. Two final questions from them: (1) the pennies and the Empire State building and (2) you are "gifted" a full grown elephant, and you can't re-gift it, what is the first thing you would do?
I know I have commented before but your videos helped me feel prepared for m th job interviews. I had a job interview at one place that didn't go well but then I had a job interview at another place and got the job. I finished my training shifts tonight.
I applied for a job about 5 minutes before they called and asked me for an interview the very next day, early. I’ve panicked now because I expected more time to prepare.
Thank you, super helpful video! I have been doing some interviewing lately and have gotten the why do you want to leave your current company question. Which was fine. I had prepared for that and knew how to navigate it without speaking negatively about my current job. The one that surprised me was what is your favorite and least favorite part of your current job. I was able to come up with something on the spot but I definitely had to think of something to not be negative and came up with something that I knew would not be the case for the position I was interviewing for. I have a final interview tomorrow!
Im not sure if you have a video on this but i havnt been able to find one. A question I would like to see discussed is "Tell me one misconception people have of you?"
Would spelling be a good example for a weakness? I seriously feel that my weakness in spelling is horrible. However I do strive to learn new words and techniques to remember how to spell new words in advancing my vocabulary.
Great videos Cass. After working for the same brand in multiple positions over 28 years the interview and screening process is definitely not the same as it was before.
Interviews are especially nerve wracking for me because I have been a stay at home home for the last several years. I do not have recent experience! How could I ace an interview with no work experience?
Question: How many pennies to stack to reach the top of the Empire State Building? Answer: To the top of just the actual building or do I need to include the radio antenna?
I would suggest bringing in a small notepad that DOESN’T go in-depth about what exactly you’re gonna say, but that makes points, so an example would be: •Previous jobs from which I’ve learned (what) skill •Interests that relate to the job and so on! Hope this helps. -|- God bless! ❤️
How do you present yourself when you thought you were a great nurse? Maybe you were, but you haven’t worked in 20years. There are a lot of RN jobs. How do you get noticed? Where do you get paid more. I’m not better than anyone. I’m looking for a better paying job having 10 plus years of experience. That’s it! I can work anywhere
I really think it's okay to talk about that. Proposing it in a way to explain that it was quite hard to commute to your job and that this new position would help you be more productive because you would have more after work time
According to some recruitment ‘experts’ you shouldn’t panic even if you have a five year gap on your cv, you can still get a good job. Even if you’re sleeping inside a tent in a city centre.
Hello Cass. I have a question for you. What if the person has direct experience (which occurred 35 years ago) relating to a position he applied for today. Is this something that should be brought up? Or, left alone.
What do you do if you are at an interview and they ask you to write an 600-word essay in 30 minutes about a topic of their choosing? This happened to me and I would like to know how you would approach this challenge.
I am applying for an associate PM clinical research position while being a PM in an event management company - what could I say why I am interested in the position?
Fun fact: Most companies don't ask those type of quiz questions anymore, because so much feedback was given that interviewees felt those questions were pedantic and simply made to make interviewers feel smart. Now they ask you absurdly hard programming questions :D
Hi all, has anybody ever had an employer send their interview questions 24h before the interview? I am just curious, I love that practice but I am wondering why they want you to be super prepared. Thank you
I’ve had that. They want you to be prepared so that you don’t waste each others time I think. Plus they ultimately want to know how great a fit you’ll be for the job. Some people get really nervous even if they’re very qualified and could do a great job and I think some employers know this and want to work with you to make sure that they’re hiring someone they trust and like and not just someone who can spin stuff easily
Am a statistician/economist and the trouble thing in a job application that comes on my way or finding one...I find it hard for the kinda position I may apply for...for all I know is as an analyst 😥
I just went to an interview today two hours ago and i just got the call that i’m hired! This will be my first job! for the past two days i have been watching almost all of ur videos and they’ve helped me to prepare and feel super confident! So thank you soo much!

Done! 😁
This is great advice. As an employer, I use variations of some of these questions. I find it refreshing when my candidate doesn’t bend over backwards trying to avoid admitting they don’t know. As a matter of fact, in the past six months, I’ve hired staff based on their honesty and directness. Although we haven't had ink in our printer for months, so guess who has no resume? I did take photos of it, and am going to offer to send the interviewer an email afterwards.
Asking for clarification is great advice for *ANY* interview question you're unsure about!
I just had a zoom meeting Interview and I GOT THE JOB!!! all thanks to this video I was so nervous at first but she asked me the questions you had went over so the interview so it was a PIECE OF CAKE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I would say where can I get so many pennies to stack up to the height of the Empire building, haha
Haha. When you said "how do you make eggs" I was thinking about how to actually make them from scratch without a chicken.
I looked up this question after my interview based on the Empire State Building question. I was the only one so far in all of their interviews to answer correctly. Yes .. I would just walk out of that interview
Empire state building question -> $2917.73, and btw, You're vids are the best, I just gradded in December 2020, and your vids are so much help.
Fantastic information yet again, thank you so much!

Thank you so much Cassandra! I have been watching your videos and I got a better job this week! The interview skills you shared are super helpful. :)
Good Morning! How do you know if they like you in an interview ?
You have to ask the hard question at the end! "Is there anything we discussed today that would make you hesitant to hire me for this position?"
I just came here, and I must say you are the best!
I dont know why...its 2:43 am in here, and u got the answers....top notch swords..
I watched several videos and so far, this is the best content. Very helpful.
Thanks so much! Make sure to share with your job searching friends!
Im not sure if you have a video on this but i havnt been able to find one. A question I would like to see discussed is "Tell me one misconception people have of you?"
The sell yourself questions i hate like
Why should we hire you?
Or
How will you benefit the company?
Would spelling be a good example for a weakness?
I seriously feel that my weakness in spelling is horrible. However I do strive to learn new words and techniques to remember how to spell new words in advancing my vocabulary.
Thanks so much this has been very enlightening and helpful to me going forward
a lot of your videos helped me get a job 💗✨ thank you!! very excited to be starting next wednesday :D
Thank you very much, you really helped me pass my interview. I have watched several of your videos
You're so strong on conveying your message and entertaining too. Weakness? Photoshop! LOL
Great videos Cass. After working for the same brand in multiple positions over 28 years the interview and screening process is definitely not the same as it was before.
Thank you, this was very helpful!
I am watching this, tomorrow i will have a job interview thanks a los😍greetings from México
Interviews are especially nerve wracking for me because I have been a stay at home home for the last several years. I do not have recent experience! How could I ace an interview with no work experience?
Very helpful. Also love your attitude!
Nice information. Very helpful and you speak clearly and not too fast which is really nice. I like your presentations.
Question: How many pennies to stack to reach the top of the Empire State Building?
Answer: To the top of just the actual building or do I need to include the radio antenna?
You are a life saver!! Love all the tips! Thx
How do I answer a question when they ask “tell me about yourself” and then I completely forget everything about myself and I’m totally mind blank
Your success
Your strength
What your values bring to the business
Jasmine Haule I don’t think I have any strengths or values
@@skye1447 You absolutely do, everyone does! Keep thinking. 💖🙏
I would suggest bringing in a small notepad that DOESN’T go in-depth about what exactly you’re gonna say, but that makes points, so an example would be:
•Previous jobs from which I’ve learned (what) skill
•Interests that relate to the job
and so on! Hope this helps. -|- God bless! ❤️
Very helpful suggestions, no matter your experience this is good stuff!
Great video. Thank you so much.
Just applied today, for my first job, kinda freaking out lol
Thank you Cass.
Regarding the question of why are you leaving your current job. What if I'm leaving because the commute is to long, should I say that?
I really think it's okay to talk about that. Proposing it in a way to explain that it was quite hard to commute to your job and that this new position would help you be more productive because you would have more after work time
Good stuff! Thanks 👍
According to some recruitment ‘experts’ you shouldn’t panic even if you have a five year gap on your cv, you can still get a good job. Even if you’re sleeping inside a tent in a city centre.
Such a great video!
Failures are opportunities to learn and grow
just wanted to say i love you and all of your'e videos
Thank you I had my job interview today phew
I was literally just given my first ever interview date today.
Interview date: Tomorrow
So... I'm cramming here :)
You can do it!
@@CassThompsonConsulting Thank you! I got the position! :)
Watching this after an interview, I don’t think I have the job 😭. Why didn’t I find you before the interview? 🥲
I was asked ''Describe a perfect manager'' and i stuttered quite a lot, i cried after the interview .. like how i even answer that
Good 🎉
I am applying for an associate PM clinical research position while being a PM in an event management company - what could I say why I am interested in the position?
Can you help me on this quest why do you want to be a job setter / team leader ?
Fun fact: Most companies don't ask those type of quiz questions anymore, because so much feedback was given that interviewees felt those questions were pedantic and simply made to make interviewers feel smart. Now they ask you absurdly hard programming questions :D
Except that not every job is about programming...
@@the_only_living_ghost thank you, it really makes sense!
Always spin leaving your job as wanting to advance your career
Am a statistician/economist and the trouble thing in a job application that comes on my way or finding one...I find it hard for the kinda position I may apply for...for all I know is as an analyst 😥
