Two things that help a lot are. Make the zoom window smaller and position it below the camera. Turn off your self-view (your camera is still on). This allows to focus on the other party.
One hack that I found was (on Zoom at least) you can move the panel of participants directly below the camera. So you can see their reactions without having to look over to the side.
I did really well on my interview I hope. From the responses, I got today! Thanks and I will update!😄 edit- I GOT IN THANK YOUUU!!! Watch all her videos for the interview highly recommend!❤
I just finished up a 2nd Virtual interview with a company and at the end when I asked the interviewer if he had any more questions for me - he said that due to my last answer where I talked about my passion and lit up - is what made him decide to move me to the 3rd round of interviews. He said he didn't like my 'canned answers' at the beginning of the interview - which sort of annyoed me since they were in response to his 'canned questions' - ie., what is your greatest strength, what is your greatest weakness. It felt odd - as if I would just go off the cuff on answering those standard questions? No... I have prepared answers of course. -So what gives? It felt so hypocritical for him to say that.
Ha ha! His comment was only a reflection of his poor preparation to interview you and his canned questions gave him away. I’ve learned that great interviewers will really look into you, learn about you, look you up, etc before the interview. I hope you got the job!
Really love your channel! Although I interview pretty well, I came here for some reinforcement tips because its been a while. Watched dozens of your videos which helped me organize my thoughts putting me on top of my game. Clearly I asked "the hard question", (twice because there was the follow up interview) BTW wasn't hard because it's a great question. And because I was so prepared I was cool with whatever question might follow, there was none. Yes, I got the job! Thank you for added self confidence by sharing these tips and tools. Good luck to all the job seekers out there, you've got this!
Thank you for the great video's they helped me land my dream job. I found the video where you spoke about questions to ask really helpful. I followed your techniques and received that was a "good question" from my interviewer, which made me more confident in my interview. If you are new to Cass' channel you will find some very useful tips to land you, your perfect job. Thanks again, keep up the great video's.
You have saber my life two times in my life. I just got another job following your channel.I’ve used everything from questions , letters and advice.😀💙😀💙 thank you
I just used your tips and advice for a phone call interview. Thank you so much for helping out. Will update if I land the job. Doing your research on the company, their values and understanding the job requirements and how your background prepares you for the role is really important. I learned this from you and prepared accordingly. And yes I also asked 3 questions at the end!😀
I just wanted to say how much I wish I had watched your videos before my interviews. Totally bombed all 4 of my interviews and only realizing my mistakes after watching your vid. I have one coming up today and I'm binge watching the videos. Hope everything goes well. Will update.
Thank you for this valuable info. No skipping any parts of an interview. Have you or will you touch on hash tags tips? Loved you video on the unusual. hard and rare interview questions. Feeling very motivated by all your shared knowledge.
Damn! This is my first ever comment on CZcams. I jus wanna thank you for all your tips that actually worked for me. And Guess whattt! I got my dream job!😭 Thanks Cassa ❤️
Cassandra, Thank you for all your great advice for job seekers. My Work Experience students and I enjoy your approachable content for job seekers of any age. Please keep uploading new content. Thank you, Brandt Snakenberg
Oh 🙄 I was looking at the panel members individually NOT the camera 😭. My 14 yr old would NAIL the virtual interview bc of all her TikTok videos and practice recording herself!! Which by the way you say to do....practice!!
I had 1 interview on zoom and the interviewer did not turn on her camera felt like I was talking to myself 😂😂 so weird I got the job but then decided to go another route.
I showed up at the time exactly. Is that still good? XD I definitely didn't show up late. And they actually didn't accept my call until 20 seconds after i called so maybe they weren't waiting for me! Lol
Also i was waiting on the meeting link for a few minutes. So this was very nice to know!! But for apple they suggest coming 15 minutes ahead of time. I think doing that would actually make me less nervous and prepared
Is it a bad idea to send physical thank you notes after an interview in a pandemic type world? I normally send thank you emails immediately (with 1-3 hours) after an interview has concluded. But I really want to stand out. thoughts everyone?

You forgot 2 things: Make sure your background is clean/uncluttered. Make sure you are in a quiet location
I put a chair against the door so that my kids or cats won’t barge in.
She has them in the previous video about online interviews.

Canned questions? Ver funny reply.
that's annoying... like its the principal of reciprocity - if you want out of the box answers, ask or indicate out of the box type questions lol

ProTip: put the video thumbnails under the camera, so when you look at the thumbnails it seems like you are looking at the camera.

Watching this in preparation for medschool interview .thanks❤❤
Thank you this is perfect timing! Been binging all of your videos yesterday and today for my interview tomorrow!
shaking hands had better not be 'gone forever' or so does humanity - I agree about suggestion below - watch what is in your background.
I think that we should look approachable for an interview but not overly friendly. Confident and approachable are two good tips.

Thank you, you have the best advice, channel, and personality!
I appreciate that! Thanks for the kind words!

Love your sense of humor!! 🤣 Thank you for your tips!
Love the idea of having a reminder on the top of the screen to look at the ‘red dot’ or a LI picture. You’re so clever, Cassandra!

That’s hard and sort of rude in their part
My first virtual interview will be tomorrow on webex
❤ love this
I'm bobbing my leg just watching this.
Love your videos! You are hilarious and so helpful!
tnx
You are awesome thanks for this.
When they talk - can we look at them instead camera because I felt disconnected and not able to concentrate on what they are talking.
You are interesting🤣🤣
I have noticed that the interviewer not always dress appropriately for an interview even though the corporation he/she works for is a renowned place.🧐
I had interviewers dressed in hoodies

i can't find the video she references about setting up angles, etc. for the video interview. does anyone know where it is?
Should I apologise for my awful lockdown haircut? Or ignore it? It’s not a professional cut :/ interview is at 11:30am
But if you look at the camera instead of at THEM, how are you going to get feedback? You need to see how they react to you to act accordingly
Not really. You can look at them in screen in glances but your answers and demeanor really shouldn’t change much, if at all, based on their reactions
@@CassThompsonConsulting Thanks for the advice! I have a Zoom job interview in 10 minutes and need all the help I can get.
I´ve had interviewers wearing a hoodie or sweater etc ("not dressed the part") on their ends!?...

Put a false eyelash above the camera lens like it's an eye! Look at it.
