      I do like John Paul Jones' deal - stand near Bonham, and react to the riot out front & Bonham's groove.

      I heard he would even stay in different hotels from the other lads to avoid the madness and mayhem. He would always show up for work, though.

    Black dog is British slang for depression, and many people thought the title meant that, but Led Zeppelin said they didn't know what to call the song, so they named it after a literal black dog that was hanging around. I think that makes more sense than depression in lieu of the lyrics.

    Jimmy Page and JPJ had extensive experience being session players in the studio. They also learned a lot about studio engineering and did a lot of Led Zeppelin's studio engineering. That is what gave them a leg up on other bands. They could get the sound they wanted themselves without having to argue with record company engineers. They could tell them to f*ck off, and just do it themselves.

    JPJ has said during interviews that he loved not being well known because he could go for long walks without being recognized while the other band members had to stay in the hotel. I'm sure that felt good while touring and living out of hotel rooms.

    By the Blu-ray or DVD by Led Zeppelin The Song Remains the Same he's got the clips for the concerts got most of the songs for the massive Square Garden concert it's got kind of a goofy movie that they made in the beginning and it is Scott scenes from their life over in England in mixing between it's like a documentary concert and a movie all wrapped up in the blunt and vaccine footage from something was happening at the concert chaos definitely worth buying and having this reference material entertaining as hell

    Zep is one of those bands that got worse over time , every year Page is more and more of a Zombie , in 73 it already starting to show. Plant is chubby, Bonzo is blacked out. IMO you have to go back before 71. IMO the last great show I have seen on YT was Royal albert hall in 70. Watch that and see the Life still in these guys , the boogie still in their groove. This is still legendary stuff ,,,

    • @Dan-zq5wt
      @Dan-zq5wt Před rokem

      That’s not true. They were pretty unbelievable 1969-1973. They were absolutely blazing in 1971. Awesome in 1972. Then go listen to the Spring 1973 Euro tour. Probably Page’s absolute peak on guitar. Insanely fluid and fast for JP. That being said, Plant’s voice did go South in 1973, and Page started to lose it in 1975 with the beginning of a drug addiction and a broken finger. He looks more disheveled (but cool in his stage outfit) and the energy level dropped a lot. But I disagree with your pre-1971 comment and also about Zep getting worse every year. Go listen to 1971 bootlegs: Osaka, Berkeley, Orlando etc. The band was destroying.

    • @dickcnormis1444
      @dickcnormis1444 Před rokem

      They were at their peak during the 72 tour, they were still great in 73 but Plant lost some power and clarity , his voice became more scratchy, his voice was blown out for most of the 75 tour and it got better for the 77 tour but it was not as high.Bonham got better as time went on but he did become a drunk, just look at his playing on Kashmir 79 and all the fantastic fills he added as compared to the 75 and 77 tours. Jones was great all the way through, Page is really the one who took a down turn the most, His playing on the 75 tour was not as good as previous tours, by the 77 tour he was a sweaty skeleton and doing heroin and coke, he was very erratic on this tour but had some amazing shows in LA.and a few other places. I believe if Bonham didn’t die prior to the 1980 tour Page would not have survived that tour, he looked like death during the short European tour of 1980, he wouldn’t have made a full US tour with heroin and all the high end coke that started coming in .

    • @Dan-zq5wt
      @Dan-zq5wt Před rokem

      @@dickcnormis1444 I’m afraid you’re right. In terms of chops, Page was just stellar in the first half of 1973, and I think he was great at MSG too. He started to lose it in 1975. Whatever, he burnished his legacy
