very perceptive about the quality of the performance, this was in fact recorded for a movie - called the song remains the same. It was made up of tracks performed at the MSG concerts and also sections of film recorded of the band Members at home in the UK and then some imaginary sequences based on the respective interests of the four. If you are about to do Dazed and confused live and do the whole version it includes Jimmy Page's dream. The sets thay did in concert lasted up to 3.5 hours so they were a marathon but i don't think anyone was complaining!! They did different versions of the songs at every live performance - so creative. Thanks for the shout out, peace and love sue

Thanks for the shout out. You're building a great channel here.
One of the most interesting facts about Black Dog is Zeppelin's use of multiple timings between the band members. For example, the guitar and bass are playing in 4/4 time while Bonham the drummer is playing in 9/8 time....which means there are times when they are all in-synch with each other, and times when they are not. This is very difficult to accomplish, musically speaking, and have it come together seamlessly. Zep did it with ease, and you'll find all sorts of timing games being used by the band as further albums emerged.

This was a movie released in theaters back probably before you were born in 1976….it was a documentary with film clips behind the scenes during the 1973 concert…also gave footage when large sums of money was stolen from their hotel….the main suspect in the theft was their manager Peter Grant….

And their sets would run over three hours, sometimes close to four! Heavily improvised, so their shows were never really the same.

Greatest band in history! Try Kashmir and Achillies Last Stand both live 1979 at Knebworth!! Both killer!!

This is one of my favorite songs. Even though they say there's no hidden meaning behind this song, just fyi: In British folklore seeing a black dog out of nowhere, can be a portent of death. Yes, if you watched or read the HP series or the movies, this information was in there, they call it a GRIM

I saw them in 1977 Oklahoma City. They rocked that building down! Best band ever! Love my Led Zeppelin!
Got to see Robert with Allison Kraus in Seattle August 2022. Their voices are a match made in Heaven. He broke out When the Levee Breaks and a couple of Zep times. He is still the ultimate Rock God. ❤

I would give anything to watch them perform. Unfortunately I was also born too late. Love the reactions and the respect you give. Always happy to provide other artists from that time that are a must listen too as well. Led Zeppelin’s catalog is pretty big though and definitely worth the listen. Love to see maybe some Pink Floyd as a next artist you get into when ready.

  • @henriettaskolnick4445

Another thing about this song, is the start/stop flow with the instruments between was a nod to Fleetwood Mac's song "Oh Well" when guitarist Peter Green was still with the band. I'm looking forward to more Zep reactions.

Some comments - "The song remains the same" movie all filmed at MSG. Hedley Grange - where the famous drum intro to When the Levee Breaks was created. Don't sleep on the later 1995 Page & Plant album and tour. Irvine Meadows Amphitheater - Kashmir with Egyptian band and an orchestra accompanying them. A different flavor.
