Most of Jimmy Pages live guitar work was improvised, that's what makes it so great, the band as a whole rarely rehearsed and just bounced off each other 😊

The same song in each concert is always different too, the basics are true to the song, with great improvisation.

Simply the GOATS OF GOATS. There is before Elvis, then after him. There was the Beatles, them after them. There was Led Zeppelin, then after them! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Zeppelin recorded very little official live things. The one that they did do is from Madison Square Garden in 1973 and is one of the most iconic live performances ever recorded. So most of the official live stuff you see will be from this concert. However, there are some official live recordings from other concerts where they have individual songs. Earls Court from 1975 and Knebworth from I believe 1979. And there is a complete live performance from Albert Hall as well from 1969. The last three venue recordings were released in 2003 when Jimmy Page, the guitarists, gathered all the unreleased recordings he could find, many from bootlegs, and made a double dvd of them. It also has a few random songs on the dvd not from any of the previously mentioned venues.

Page was a studio musician for a few years before he ever started Led Zep.
He knew what he was doing.

He was the most sought after studio guitarist, & played with The Yardbirds, before creating Led Zeppelin.

First of all great reaction, and I think choosing Black Dog was a good choice. Led Zeppelin have many different types of songs, from hard rock to tender ballads. They are rock, blues, folk, and jazz influenced. Many of their songs reflect these influences. My personal favorites are their rock/blues songs and blues songs. In regards to your comments on the vocals, and guitar playing, they are improvised, and different from concert to concert. LZ never play a song the same way when performing live, and their live songs are different than the way they record them. So if your wondering how Jimmy Page remembers his guitar solo's in live performances, he doesn't. They are created as he plays based on recordings and prior performances. If you do more LZ reactions, I would recommend their song Kashmir live at Knebworth 1979 official video. It has amazing tempo and rhythm changes, amazing vocal adlibs, fabulous stage presence, and an epic ending.

First, this song had no name when Robert wrote it at Headly Grange. As the story goes when asked what's it called he said Black Dog. There was a dog roaming around the property while he was writing.
This footage is from a 3 night stand they did at Madison Square Garden in 1973 and was later used in their concert movie "The Song Remains the Same" which came out in 1975.

it's a bit sad that JPJ didnt want to come to the forefront, he could have made memorable Bass solos. Maybe it's standard for bassists to prefer to stay on the side. Like the Bassist in Grand Funk Railroad, the singer had to move behind the bassist to 'force' him to come forth :)

    • @sicotshit7068
