this one was the shot heard round the world for me--first time I ever heard Zeppelin. I was sitting on the living room floor playing with toys when I was 4 years old. Mom drops the needle--something was ALWAYS playing on the stereo at our house. To hear her tell it, as soon as "HEY HEY MAMA SAID THE WAY YOU MOVE GONNA MAKE YOU SWEAT GONNA..." my head whipped around and I stared at the record player, dumbfounded. on stuck, stoopid. she couldn't get my attention for a looooooooong time into the song, and she had to grab my chin and turn my head to face her before I was even aware of anything else in the world.

There were of course many other great bands in this era. Parliament Funkadelic, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, David Bowie. Someone mentioned Status Quo but they are not in the same class. There was a reason Punk and then New WAve came along as Europes music scene was much weaker in the 70's than the 60's while the US still had Niel Young and the others I mentioned. With Pil, Talking Heads, The Clash the Psychedelic Furs the New wave was also superb before Mtv!

@no life shaq, mothership was a remastered compilation of zeppelin songs. Black Dog was originally release on Led Zepplin IV. Often considered the greatest rock n roll album. As far as "honey drip", that's that old delta blues influence. You may be surprised to know these guys were primarily influenced by 30s, 40s and 50s blues artist. The even covered a few of those songs. Musically, these guys broke all the rules all the time. I'm impressed you heard that. The time signatures in this song is the most extreme example of that beside maybe Kashmir. John Bonham is the drummer. He is the most sampled drummer!!! Quote below from the drummer to the singer on the time signatures of this song.
Well we can’t count from where you stopped because your vocals might be different. Your voice might go on half a beat and we‘re gonna be fucked.

You are a pleasure to watch sir. Instant good feelings watching you explore new music.
When I was 13 me and my friends were on a bus into the city discussing whether Def Leppard or Led Zeppelin were the better band. We'd just starting playing music, I chose drums cause I found a pair of drumsticks at my house though no one really played.
(We were clearly young dumb kids because Def Leppard are no where near the mightiness of Zeppelin).
Anyway, I got home and asked my Dad. And he got this Led Zeppelin DVD out and put on Achilles Last Stand live at Knebworth, England in 1979.
Two things happened. Led Zeppelin became my favourite band instantly. My top three of all time.
And I invested all my time into learning how to play drums. 16 years later, I've been on the most amazing musical journeys playing drums as a focal point of my life.
    Actually life changing.
That's my story. Let me know if you want to react to my band coach ;)
