      Glad you like it!!
      P.S In the spoken language (colloquial speech), we tend not to use 'este'.
      We end up using 'ESSE', 'esse', 'aquele' instead of 'este', 'esse', 'aquele'.

    Hi Bea, thanks for this series on pronouns! I have a quick question: what pronoun do I use to refer to an abstract noun? Eg. This idea, this color, this song, etc?

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese  Před 3 lety +3

      Oi Peter! With abstract nouns, you will use the pronouns according to the gender of the nouns, e.g. 'esta ideia; esta cor; este sentimento' . In formal writing, use 'esse' or 'essa' if the subject you are referring to has already been mentioned; use 'este' or 'esta' if you will start talking about it.
      For example, supposing I just sent you an email with an idea for a new project. I should, at the beginning of my email, refer to the idea as 'Esta idea...'; then, when answering me back, you should say 'Essa idea...' 😊

    Oi Bea, é verdade que hj em dia na linguagem falada brasileiro não usa muito este/esta/isto?

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese  Před 2 lety +1

      Olá! Pode-se dizer que sim! De uma forma geral, na oralidade, usamos 'esse' tanto para 'este' quanto para 'esse'. O mesmo se dá com 'essa' e 'isso' na linguagem coloquial.
