    Obrigado Bea. I think of qual/quais as meaning "which" even though you might best translate it in English as "what." Qual é seu nome? = Literally, "Which is your name [out of all the possibilities in the world]?" You're asking for an answer to your question in the form of an item from a list, even though the list is extremely long. I speak fluent Spanish, and "Cuál/Cuáles" is used exactly the same way in situations like this. Hope this helps someone!

    Isn't it complicated if two Brazilians talk to each other and using "a/o" and they don't know if someone means the 2nd or the 3rd person singular?

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese Před dnem

      Olá! Tudo bem? We must look at the context in which those pronouns are being used to avoid any misunderstandings. It is important, though, to mention that in informal spoken language, *o, a, os, as* are rarely used in Brazil. We end up saying *você* or *te* ( *te* is a gramatically incorrect choice, but we often use it in daily conversations) when referring to 2nd person; and repeating *ele, ela* or the person's name when referring to another person.

    A Brazilian who loves ketchup is a cliché and a stereotype. Is it true that Brazilian hotdogs taste better? I loved the verb "desabafar", it doesn't exist neither in Spanish nor in French. Same with "estranhar" bc "extrañar" means to miss someone or something. This was very helpful.

    • @PlainPortuguese
      @PlainPortuguese Před dnem

      Olá! Tudo bem? I must say that Brazilian hotdogs are almost like a full meal! Sausage is still the main ingredient, but we (may) add tomato sauce, corn, peas, vinaigrette (a sort of salad dressing with herbs, diced onions and tomatoes), shoestring potato, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard. In some cities, it is common to add mashed potatoes, which I personally think is *way too much* 😅

    "Vêm" is like a multifaceted coin, with one side representing the verb "vir" (to come) and the other side representing the verb "ver" (to see). It's fascinating how one word can have different origins and meanings, depending on its context. This linguistic versatility adds richness and complexity to the Portuguese language! 😎😛😎
