I saw Stanhope live at a small club in British Columbia. Tears of uncontrollable laughter. People standing and cheering throughout his act. It was like a punk concert in some ways. Highly, highly recommend seeing him live, if you can.
Saw him in a small club in Seattle 20 years ago. He killed it!
Saw him in a dive bar outside of seattle in 2016 after decades of being a fan - absolutely one of a kind experience seeing that guy live.

Im living in the south east of America now and a new one ive heard is "six one way, half a dozen the other". In fact ive realized that there are a lot of phrases in the south that you just dont hear in new england or the pnw.
Another quick anecdote 😅 in the pnw they call grocery carts "carts" in the south they call em "buggies" and in NY and CT we called them "carriages". The dialects in america are fascinating and there are a few that are really hard to understand. Id be interested to see a video about the isles up in your neck of the woods. I somewhat understand that welsh, irish, brittish and scottish are distinctive, but there are also dialects in brittish english like the "proper" upper class stuff and idk how to spell it "cogney" kind of slurred slang.

Stanhope is wild. He often introduces himself by saying that he feels like he's leading the audience into battle, because some won't be there after he'll finish. I strongly recommend his bit called "Farewell, Mother!". It's the darkest yet at the same time most touching comedy bit I've ever seen.

I remember seeing this in the special and wondering 'Holy shit, where did raping a football player come from and why did it work?!' It was outrageous and completely out of nowhere, and it was shockingly hilarious. I think that he was just trying to see how far he could take it with the crowd.

Stanhope is my favorite living comedian, and my second all time favorite just behind Carlin. I have watched every special dozens of times, have all his CDs, read his books. He's an idol of mine. But I truly think this is the greatest comedy bit of all time. Seriously. There is NO other comedian who would have the balls to do this bit. It's so dark, disgusting, depraved and absolutely brilliantly hilarious in every way. I love all of Stanhopes material. But for me, this is it. This is his magnum opus. The first time I saw this bit I was crying from laughter I thought I was going to die lol.
