Speaking of Disney, I am very surprised that most people do not get this mad at Amphibia for not taking out Marcy Wu's life after King Andrias stabbed her. True Colors began with Sprig Plantar warning us about _intense final scenes_ because the intense final scene in question was King Andrias stabbing Marcy with his fiery sword. Plenty of kids and even adults who watched it were scared and saddened that one of the three Calamity Box girls who was central to the main plot, was killed off on the Season 2 cliffhanger ending. The next episode, Anne Boonchuy is just as worried as all of us about Marcy's death, and denies that she is actually dead. Six episodes later in Olivia and Yunan, Marcy is alive again in the rejuvenation chamber because King Andrias has other evil plans by connecting her mind to The Core. I guess the only reason why almost nobody is upset about Marcy's sudden un-death is because Season 3 of Amphibia found a more meaningful role for her to justify keeping Marcy alive, than what Ahsoka did with Sabine Wren.
At the end of Season 3 of Amphibia, all three Calamity Box girls cry, reunite and reconcile for the third time in All In (the first time was in The Third Temple, the second time was in Battle of the Bands). In The Hardest Thing, they fight The Core as a team until Anne alone sacrifices her life to take out The Core. Literally 5 minutes later into that episode, the Calamity Guardian allows Anne to continue living a full life so she can keep improving herself until she is truly worthy of becoming the new Guardian of the Calamity Crystals, and ascending to that higher plane of existence at the end of her life. Anne, Marcy and Sasha say goodbye to all of their friends from Amphibia, and use the last of the Calamity Crystals' power to portal home to their families. Are you happy that Amphibia ended this way, with Anne and her friends permanently parting ways with Amphibia to continue living in their home world, or did you prefer for Amphibia to have a darker ending where Marcy and Sasha just had to live the rest of their lives with Anne already dead?

The night sisters here are using a completely separate system that includes necromancy and conjuring. They don’t have the same flesh necrosis brought about by dark side force use in the form of the black splotches that form all over their bodies but rather are simply tattooed. So yeah Drinker isn’t wrong here. This isn’t the force they’re wielding. It’s an entirely new system. And it’s not the same as the witches of Dathomar who wielded the force.

Whenever we had a good lightsaber duel back in the day we knew stuff was about to go down and we were either going to see beloved characters live or die or be seriously wounded and now its just a minor injury, which doesnt help us to be invested and devalues the suspense when theres lightsabers every other scene

In fairness, Luke losing his hand wasn't really a serious wound. He had a new hand and was good as new faster than Sabine recovered in episode 2.
The difference is that Lucas generally made sure if a character was going to survive a fight, they'd sustain plausibly survivable wounds that still demonstrated how dangerous lightsabers were. Maul would be the exception but only because Lucas brought him back to life after the fact. He'd never have written for a character get rammed through with a lightsaber only to walk it off, since that would cheapen lightsabers as a weapon. Having them cut someone's hand off in a flash, while not fatal and easily repairable in the SW universe, highlighted the dangers of the weapon.

Coming from a family of longtime Star Wars fans, I miss the times when we felt genuine excitement when the next Star Wars movie came out. It’s to the point where my dad nearly named me after Luke Skywalker. Nowadays, we just watch these episodes when we have nothing else to do, and my dad actually slept through the second episode of Ahsoka. We’ve known him to sleep through movies that fail to keep him interested beyond the opening act.
I genuinely hoped that Ahsoka would be a diamond in the rough, like Rogue One and the first two seasons of The Mandalorian (I haven’t watched Andor yet, but based on what I’ve heard it’s worth the watch). At least the stories were cohesive if not always coherent and each episode generally made sense within itself even if it might be retconned without any comment whatsoever the next week as someone was suddenly whisked off to recover from substance abuse or something like that. At least they had the excuse of being a daily program made every weekday almost without exclusion instead of half a dozen episodes done over the space of a year or so giving the writers every chance to make them coherent, cohesive, and complete. Ahsoka seems to be failing at all three of those tasks. And Drinker, you mad studly hero, you give these so-called writers too much credit with "room temperature IQ" because it seems more like "freezer temperature IQ".

The Witches of Dathomir were introduced in the 1994 book The Courtship of Princess Leia, which also introduced the Nightsisters (the Sith to the Witches' Jedi). The original witch from the Ewok movie was retconned to be a Nightsister, soon after.
The Clone Wars majorly changed the way the Dathomir Witches worked, ignoring the fact that non-Nightsister witches existed, changing Maul and Ventress' homeworlds to Dathomir, and making Dathomiri into half-Human half-Zabraks. This is, of course, the version of the witches that was imported into Disney canon.

Drinker - I agree with everything you said - except about Ahsoka. 5 episodes in, I'm loving this show. Especially eps 4 & 5. I confess I watched all 7 seasons of Clone Wars - twice - and all 4 seasons of Rebels - also twice - and Ahsoka grew to be my favorite character of the entire franchise!! She is arguably the most developed character in all of Star Wars. And while you're correct that the main 3 characters of Ahsoka are women... Ahsoka herself, Sabine, and Hera - that point isn't even pointed out nor belabored. IMHO, this is the least "woke" SW I've seen since Rebels. We got Anakin in eps 4 & 5, and Rex and the 501st in ep5. As I said, I'm loving this show... the closest thing to George Lucas we've ever gotten out of Disney. And as of ep5, she has been transformed into Ahsoka the White. Gone are the sullen moods along with her gray robes, and the Mortis Daughter shines through her now. She smiles more in ep5 than the entire previous 4 eps. She has been "reborn" and Dawson's portrayal of her reflects the same.
I greatly respect your views and opinions and have subscribed to your channel for years now, and, as I said, I agree with you 99% of the time. The sequel trilogy sux!! I didn't even bother to watch the last two movies. I haven't seen Solo. I did watch BoBF... is was just "ok." But Ahsoka, imho, is the exception, along withS1 & S2 of The Mandalorian. S3 was just "ok." Rogue One was really good!!
I kind of get the feeling that your deserved hatred of all things Disney has unfairly colored your view of Ahsoka, but that's just mho. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. No vitriol nor judgment intended here. Just a request for a fair (mho), assessment of Ahsoka on its own merits. :) May the Force be with you... always!!!

The thing that made the original Star wars great had nothing to do with the story or the writing.
The first thing was the massive jump in the way technology was used in special effects it looked like nothing anyone had ever seen before
The second was the interaction between that particular set of characters.
Everything else was just a rehash from a dozen other sources. It was never meant to be all that unique or original, more an homage to something that used to be done in a more modern setting.
For me I'm going to enjoy it for what it is, it's not like there's anyway I can make it something else so why not enjoy it as it is and be grateful there's something better to watch than the average crap served up repetitively.
Sure it could probably be better but I'll take it over nothing, I like the characters and so far the story is not awful. Sure it's the same old same old just told a slightly different way, and what out there isn't?

Star wars first premiered when I was a 13 year old kid growing up on a small farm. My dad was very selective in which animal bred with his livestock. Only the strongest and most beautiful creatures were allowed near his precious animals. One day, a scrawny little misfit from the herd jumped atop one of his best cows. Dad started whipping the hell out of that animal. I quickly realized why and joined in.
Years later, now, in the present, seeing all this Star Wars content being thrown at us, I kinda feel like my dad back in the day. I see my beloved Star Wars, the film that enthralled me and transported a young, bored cowkid from the mundane, dullness of life, like Luke Skywalker himself is being humped to death by unimaginative hacks with no understanding of Lucas' original vision.
I've given up on the latter Star Wars anything, preferring instead to watch the original big three in their original theatrical versions.

Lightsabers in the OG trilogy felt dangerous and unstable but powerful, like Vader cutting off Luke's hand looked like it barely took any effort. With the prequel trilogy, they felt like proper weapons, not too heavy not too light, and deadly in the hands of someone experienced. In the sequels and onwards it started to feel more like a bat than a sword, yeah it can still do damage but it felt more like you were wacking the enemy with it more than slashing. @@neotoad456 LOL I'm 24 first off, secondly you must not know what the word overrealiance means, I can easily concede a *proper* and smart use of CGI and even green screens (to a degree), House Of The Dragon or especially Lord of The Rings are perfect examples. Even still, most modern movies will never come close; Apocalypse Now didn't have a single use of CGI or special effects, even the napalm strike they used a legit payload and had one single take, the choppers and APC's and boats and explosions and fire, for f*cks sake they actually had dead bodies from a morgue in a scene (though obviously I don't expect that from any movie lol), and virtually no war movie will ever come close to the sheer authenticity and immersion of that film and a few others in that league. Now admittedly and IMO that's a special film so I'll use the example of the original Star Wars, no other entry has ever felt as authentic and 'real' as the original trilogy, and it's because of the real props and stop motion and miniatures, the set models and detail, or take Alien and Aliens 1986-they feel incredibly authentic and it's easy to get immersed, everything looks and 'feels' real and modern entries to the franchise feel laughably fake and soulless.

Of course the two most interesting characters, the two “anti jedi” will get 30 seconds of screen time every episode

Yeah and Ashoka, who is SUPPOSED to be an amazing character has become some average Jedi sage character that goes completely against all of her character development. Ashoka is supposed to be a grey jedi that doesnt suppress her emotions. That was one of the biggest reasons she left the order, cause she felt that their teachings on things like emotion was causing Jedi to fall. And that belief became solidified when Anakin fell. This show undoes all of that for the sake of "making her a girlboss" when the truth is she was already a badass female character without their meddling.

I remember when they used to be called Sith. I guess they’ve sunsetted the term in favor of “anti-jedi” and “witches” now… for some reason?

The only element that surprised and intrigued me is, of course, stolen from the EU's vault of characters from superior stories. Those 2 are a facsimile of the inquisitor Jerec and his apprentice Sariss from the Dark Forces games made by Lucasarts back in the glory days.
disney leans so bloody hard on the old EU for shows like this yet at the same time desperately wants to ignore it's existence and push their own "original" GARBAGE instead.

And a little else because the main bad guy actually died in real life in May… So I don’t know how that’s going to work out in the show?

@@LeonSKennedy7777the Sith are a very specific cult, and there can only be two of them. There can be many more darksiders though. These guys are darksiders, but not Sith

Mary e winstead dodging lasers by swerving her ship back and forth like a lumbering hippopotamus had me on the edge of my seat.

I'm glad you at least mentioned that it wasn't near the level of Andor. I think that show was underappreciated.
Even though I am still a little bit mad about the characters using completely unmodified AKs lol. When I saw that I thought that they were going to introduce actual ballistic weapons to Star Wars because that would be the only reason for them to have left the magazine in but nope just laser AKs.

The greatest tragedy about this is that it's the last thing Ray Stevenson ever did. RIP to the man who brought Titus Pullo to life!
