  • In this ECO review we look at, what is it? What is there to do? How to select the best server to suit your play-style? And what does it have to offer? These questions are answered in an overview of the gameplay and game features as we discuss the different ways to explore the careers, economic, cooperative / co-op nature, and competitive alternatives you can find with servers. The Meteor, it's duration, skill points, and planet size are all discussed in the overview of the game.

    Love this. This is one of those "amazing games that I never play because I don't have the time" games, sadly. I hope someday I shall again.

      It is a really great game, and the longer running, slow progression servers allow a person to play here and there when they have time and not feel left behind. :) WARNING: It is addictive though!!

    Dude, how many miles, THROUGH THE SAND!, did that guy pull that cart!!??
    This looks like a job for, no, not Underdog, but Super Prospector!!
    Loved the downhome music and the nod to the old Star Trek Log Book series.
    Well played!!

    Brilliant. Thanks for making these factors a lot clearer. Now to find a server that fits what playstyle I think I'll most enjoy (a lot like yours - slower, specialized but more free-form, but with a strong economy component). Hrm...

      The game is super flexible! It's been impressive to see how some folks have molded such a variety of worlds through server settings, laws, and the like.

    ECO is one of those games I would use way too much time on :D

      It s definitely a time absorber, but it’s a very pleasant grind (I think)! The long running servers feel I rushed, which I like.

    That is probably the best mining I've seen in a game.

      LOL! Love it!! I will say, being a underground dwarf of mining is one of my favorite things to do in the game!! I'm not saying I've created an entire underground city before...but I'm not not saying it. ;-)

    How can my friends join my world? I searched so long and still can't find the answer :(

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety

      If you are wanted them to join your own "client" world you have, they won't be able to directly. You'll need to set up a "server" copy of the game where you all (including yourself) log in using your local client version of the game. The server files are free to download for anyone who's purchased the game. There are several ways to do it, but the linked wiki article might get you started - it's an old post but I believe may still be pretty good. The easiest way for you all to play ECO together would be to search for an existing server that seems to fit you and your friends playstyle, and then the group of you join the same one. wiki.play.eco/en/Setting_Up_a_Server
      Hope all this helps!

    Can you set up your own solo play server? I would hate to get a game that can be shut down over time. Like the Marvel game on Steam... that was sad...

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, you can set up your own local server on your PC and play that way. If you wanted, you could also open an IP port and let a select few friends/family in to join you.
      The server I play is DadSpeed. They are long running and well managed (from what I've experienced) by the game admin everyone refers to as "Dad". They do start new play-throughs from time to time - but after a long run on a given world, it's kind of a good thing. The first one ran for about 100 days. The current one has been up for about 30 and is still going strong with new people still joining. They may start a new session when the next long anticipated ECO 9.0 version drops, it's it's unclear whether that is weeks or months away. If so, they do a good job of announcing intentions and getting feedback through their Discord channel.

      Only in that it a voxel-based game with a big crafting/building element. After that, it’s like comparing Gungeon to Tarkov (I.e., you shoot guns and kill things). :)

    The admin "Dad", that is exactly what happens when you have kids.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 4 lety +1

      For sure! "Dad" (as he is called by the servers community) is a good Admin and encourages the more co-op nature with a strong economics - really good server group.
