    Thank you guys so much for watching this video - I'm honestly so excited to put in the work and make this 500lb Deadlift & Mile Under 5 Minutes happen hopefully very soon... Also, before anyone get's confused, yes the final time was 5:16 on the watch it's just at the time I read it as 5:17 due to manual limitations of watch!

      Hey Pete - Nick Bare is a fraud; I had a bit of dispute with him over a fake 100 mile ruck video and he took it down (was at 1M+ views). Big fan of yours so I feel obliged to share. Keep it up man.

      @@sburdette9901 Yes - he does have official finishes. He faked a 45lb ruck 100 miler a couple years before he did those videos. I can't stand liars - not just people who tell one or two occasionally but making an 18 minute video to millions of people is just so shameless - I don't care how fit you are. Thats why I like Fergus and Pete. Pete literally posts results of his drug tests on Instagram and Fergus is transparent every step of the way.

    I set a goal 12 weeks ago to do a 30 min 5k (appreciate its not fast but I was way outta shape) and on Saturday ran 29 min, 54 seconds! So this pace blows my mind!

    Fergus, you're an inspiration! Since Jan, I've gone from struggling through a 5k to smashing out a hilly half marathon for fun after work.
    Your content is playing a huge part in that and the open discussion about mental health makes it so much easier for others to open up.

    Congrats! I'm 139 lbs at 5'6 and best i've done so far is 5:54 for the mile

    Really excited to follow along on this one! I just ran 5:14 last week at 95kg, bit further off on the deadlift though! Also on week 3 of the squat++mile programme. Do you plan to incorporate the bike for any Z2/LISS work or do you find you need to build run specificity?

    Can't wait to see the progress towards this. Your current goals are definitely what I'm considering - got a half marathon at the end of July then I think a slight caloric surplus + weight training + short distance speed work is the way to go for the rest of the year.

      I think that based under some of Fergus’ previous videos and points (his idea of top Strength and Endurance working alongside a continuum) possibly a 10KM send it PR would be a good step during that! It sounds like a good idea! Maybe Fergus could input too

      @@6Benni9 Yeah that's definitely what I'm leaning towards, perhaps a 5k as I enjoy Park Run and I'd like to possibly win one - I got 3rd last year at my local one and then tore my calf and had to take a number of months out! I'm planning a marathon in April of next year so it's trying to decide exactly what volume and type of training to prioritise in the interim, 8-9 months is a long "off season"!

    Great stuff!! I'd be interested to hear how you program track workouts given the tax from lower body workouts. My training is pretty similar to yours but I skew longer distances and a lot slower. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels as you are honest about the psychological approaches and the nuances of training.

    My 4 ultimate life long fitness goals if I had to choose: a clean one arm pull-up, a sub 50 sec 400m, a sub 5 min mile and 500lbs deadlift. Anyone that achieve that is a god in my opinion.

    Run laps in reverse for tailwind and no headwind.
    Will also help you turn right and keep muscle balance ;)

    You can run around the track clockwise; there won’t be a neat 1 mile start line 9m from the main line, but it would still be valid; no law that one has to run anti-clockwise

    So are you doing the 500 lb deadlift straight into the sub 5 mile on the track? Like Nick Symmonds is trying to do. Or are you doing them as separate events? Regardless awesome job man.

      I believe he is trying to do both in under 5 minutes.
      Deadlift + mile in under 5 minutes, similar to how he did the 500lbs deadlift + 5K recently.

    5:16 mile by running alone? That's an accomplishment! You can probably get near a sub 5 if it were a race!

      Running clockwise on a track is equivalent to squatting with a bar pad in a powerlifting gym 🙃

      Luckily I've recently moved so I can leave that embarrassment behind.

      Can’t tell if you’re serious 😂. You’d run into people running the other way and it would be unpleasant for both parties.
