    Hey this is a long shot, but idk who else to ask. Couple months ago I was riding my 09 ninja 650, and it died. All lights and display were on fine, but wouldn't let me try and start or anything. Thought kickstand kill, but that was fine. Sat for a while, by the time I got back to it the battery was dead and bad. New battery, it cranks, but fuel pump doesn't prime. Tested the fuel pump and can hotwire it, but no clue why it won't come on. Any ideas?

      Sorry about the late reply, I don't check my messages as often since YT decided to put the screws to myself and many others..
      What all have you done thus far other than the replacement battery and quick hotwire of pump? Have you checked the fuses near the tank? Near the solenoid near the battery? Are there any saved fuel injection codes? Do you hear the throttle bodies click when you turn the key to on? If you hotwire the fuel pump and go to start it, does it actually start and run?

    I have a 2016 Ninja 1000 that has had a hard time starting lately. I have to hit the starter button like 50 times before it fires and sometimes it fires but the engine wont turn over. It seems to be getting worse with time. It's been a long time since I changed the air filter but other than that the bike is well taken care of. Just had a valve adjustment and spark plugs changed. So starter turns her over, but no gas to injectors? Check in-tank fuel pump 's resistance across the terminals. It's a 4 pin connection on this bike, 2 for fuel level float, and 2 for the pump. Shouldn't be open unless the pump is bad. Other possibility is the ECU isn't happy. Do you have a check engine light on?

    • @TheWizechatmgr
      @TheWizechatmgr  Před 3 lety +1

      You need to remove the tank and airbox to do that. If you don't have the service manual I'd suggest getting it. The tank is held on by 3 bolts, plus two holding the top shroud to it that you must remove. When you go to remove the tank be careful as you need to remove a fuel line from it, 2 drain/vac hoses, and an electrical connection for pump power and fuel tank sensor. When you go to remove the airbox it's a pain because you need to snake the harness over the top of the airbox cover. The airbox is secured at the bottom with a single clamp that clamps both sides onto the throttle bodies. I have a video on how to get to the airbox, not sure I made one for it's removal. Make sure to stuff socks in the throttle bodies while you have the airbox open so you don't drop anything down them.
