- Utica, Michigan police Sergeant Greg Morabito was caught on camera verbally berating two men who were filming him. The confrontation turned violent when Morabito smacked a man's iPhone out of his hands and purposefully parked his unmarked cruiser behind the man's car. Rick Strom breaks it down. This is why Qualified Immunity needs to be abolished
Rescind qualified immunity. All police officers and other officials involved in the judiciary should have to carry "Personal Protection Insurance" as a condition of employment. Such insurance would cover the costs of lawsuits subsequent to due process of law thereby deflecting costs from the taxpayer to the insurance company. Should insurance companies cancel the policy when an official is determined to be a bad risk, the official's employment would be automatically terminated. Such a policy would get rid of bad cops and officials pretty quickly.

@@TheMajor8478 If you watch many auditor videos there is clearly a problem with a lack of scruples and basic knowledge within the law enforcement community at large. I've had two notable instances where they were either flat wrong or couldn't allow their ego's to admit any wrong doings.. I have met many good police encounters too, but this is still a very widespread issue. It's obvious if you just look around.
I don't think cops have come to terms with the fact that citizens are now armed with the most dangerous weapon of all - A video camera that can broadcast live to the world in an instant.

The cop should not have been able to take early retirement as he should have been STRIPPED of his police pension for bringing the force into distrpute - if crooked cops were punished by losing thier pensions, we'd have a lot less crooked cops.

I use to work with officers like these with little knowledge of the law and a lot of ego. This officer's pride and ego was hurt. Most of the officers that act like this were either lames in school & in their youth. They were picked on or either the squares in school, and got into law enforcement to get some revenge or grade school/high school gratification to assert authority now. Trust! I've had to fight individuals or de-escalate a situation only to find out later my fellow officers were in the wrong or just had his feelings hurt.

We had a neighborhood kid who finally became a police officer - because his father got a City commissioners position. He was so under-qualified he could never get on the force - until his daddy pulled the strings for him, he was nothing but a bully ! With a gun and badge !

straight up, 100% true. I've seen people get clubbed for a lot less than what these guys were doing. Not saying it's right. Police have a tough job, and while this jerk cop didn't handle things well, I would have prefered a slightly less confrontational approach from the filmers. I mean they are right in the law, but just human to human, and you never know whos wife just divorced him, or whos kid just got hit by a car, maybe the cop was having the worst day already. Anyhow, at the end of the day he was a jerk, he got suspended, and thats what should happen. I don't know what crime the arrest at the police station was for, can you be loitering in a police station if your filing a report? I dunno. But, a black teen, before cell phone cameras, doing nothing more than what these guys did has gotten many many many men beaten, killed, planted drugs on locked up, the whole thing. Most police are good, but if 1 corrupt one plants coke on you and your a felon for life, it doesn't take a lot of that to give the whole police a bad name. Also, the blue line, cops dont tell on each other, I get the reasoning, but if your partner is beating people for no reason, you really arent helping anyone by keeping quiet.

Some other tough jobs: working at fast food restaurants, grocery stores, and teaching. People are rude to them, too. Are you fine with a fast-food worker slapping the phone from your hand, demanding you answer his questions, and using his car to box you in? Dealing with rude, aggressive people is part of being a cop. Don't like it? Find another job.

Honestly yeah this cop was out of line but that doesn't give people the right to be rude or aggressive towards cops nor does it give cops the right to be rude an aggressive towards citizens. The cop should have known better as he would have received training on how to de-escalate a situation, however we as the public should still hold ourselves accountable for how we act.
