Hey Scotty ! I was wondering what used Toyota I should get, I was thinking either Camry or Corolla but don’t know what year is the best
Any advice on buying a 07 fj cruiser manual transmission 140k miles ?
You should be happy you live in the states ( for gas prizes that is ) :) We pay $2.08 A liter. Thats $7.90 a gallon
Hi Scotty!
Maybe you can help. Looking to buy a Subaru based on your likes. Looking at Foresters either a fully loaded 2018 or a Premium 2017. Is one better than the other aside of all the bells and whistles? Thanks bunches!
Howl long does it take to be auto mechnic what you need certificate or associates whats qulification i want to get into it
Stop telling people about these. Every time Scotty talks about the Sequoia the prices go up!!! 😒
@@unfairsanic5089 is better the corolla, the parts are cheaper, and easy to fix
@@unfairsanic5089 stick with the rolla boy
@@unfairsanic5089 just gotta wait 6 months when people are looking at other Toyota’s (Highlander, etc) 😂
For real! Now they’re asking you gold for them
Flip side, Scotty brings the value down for GM cars 😅😅😅
I love my 2006. Will not trade it for anything until it finally dies. 227k and going strong!
Katrina Rose right choice, I got the 04 4Runner V6 with over 250k miles...
Youre smart! My 06 got 262xxx going up everyday runs like new.
What you have is a real SUV ,on a truck frame ! Most new SUVs are crossovers! Don't sell it !
I’ll never sell it! This thing is stuck with me until the frame finally rots out or the engine is completely shot. I’m betting the frame goes first! Then when it does finally pass over to the other side, rest her soul, I will find another blacked out 06 and start over. Not only do my kiddo and I love it, but we took the 3rd row out and folded up the big 2nd row so my dog has a suite back there. She loves car rides now!
With 227k it'll still be more reliable than any other NEW 3-row SUV... other than the new Sequoia and Highlander.
02 sequoia with 320k on the clock. An absolute monster in the snow, rain, and trails. Literally the most comfortable tank ever
Just bought an 02 with 197K. Good to know there’s lotta life left!!!
02' sequoia with 220k on it
My 06 sequoia has 437,921 miles running strong
O2 WITH 280K, LOVE IT
My 06 just turned over 300k!
Just picked a one owner 01 4x4 with 180k miles with perfect paint and not a single ding or dent for 6k. It even came with the original window sticker. Such a sweet rig.
4:20, i love how he is just slowly walking by lol
We need a stamp saying Scotty approval when buying cars
I AGREE, SCOTTY NEEDS TO MAKE A STICKER THAT SAYS THAT
No, it may increase prices.
Scotty, you have an amazing gift of recognizing great value in used vehicles, in a largely throw away society, you deliver a powerful message, please keep up the great work, and God Bless!
Scotty you reviewed my most favorite car ever! It's so underrated! The value holds long and it is so comfortable! I had this brand new and let me tell you, the smell was amazing! It has decent power too! I miss this car so much!
Just got one with 260k on it. Perfect body, limited 4x4 and it was only $3,800. Finally a luxury V8 SUV and I love em. No rust or damage!
One thing I’ve learned watching your videos is “just buy a Toyota.”
Or a Honda.
@ or a chrysler or nissan with cvt transmission
@@davysanders4922 a lot of Toyotas are american made....
An old Toyota SUV or truck. Do it. I've got an '01 Tundra Limited. Got it used, over 350,000 miles, but runs like a charm😊😉
Or lexus
I want to know where these people are getting these gems at such a cheap price
You gotta keep looking and wait, can't just go out and expect them to always be there
Here in Canada you would have to pay $17k 😳
@@GibsonBuck that’s for sure.
Me too around here that would go for 10k 😂
Stalk Facebook marketplace.
I had an '06 Sequoia approaching 325k miles and still running perfectly! Traded for an '07 with half the miles last year... I love it and plan to keep it forever!
@Mark Codiroli the AC went out on the '06, and also would have needed tires by Winter... when I came across my '07, it had everything I wanted, was cleaner inside, had half the miles and had brand new wheels and tires on it. Couldn't pass it up!
Bought my Sequoia brand new in 2001. Regular maintenance, new timing belt, new a/c compressor, 250,000 miles, no other problems. Paint looks brand new as well!
Lower ball joints?
My uncle has a 2006 Sequoia and It’s comfortable. It’s pretty much brand new it has like 45,000 miles lol
Whattttt not even broken in
"pretty much" you mean basically new lol or both
I've yet to find a Toyota (either ones I've owned or others') that isn't reliable. The only complaint I've ever had was with the 2015 Corolla S we leased for two years. Ran great, but the interior felt cheap sand was like a tin can. My sister's 2012 is much beefier feeling. But, I bet that 2015 will still go 200,000+ miles.
3,000 miles a year?
Price it, will travel with cash!
Scotty your vids inspired us to get rid of car payments and we bought an 02 Sequoia a few months ago with 197,000 miles. She’s a thirsty kitty at the pumps but it purrs! Thank you for your advice and glad to see this video.
My nephew has a Toyota Sequoia. Damn good vehicle! Over a hundred thousand on it. Love Scotty's advice about thefts.
My 2008 Sequoia at 230,000 and still going strong
Just bought one from a buddy for $2500. 293K miles still zips around like a go cart and it's got a V8!
89' Deluxe 22re 380,000miles on it
93' Corolla DX 160,000 miles on it
....they both run with all the original parts, need I say more🤷🏽♂️Scotty knows what he's talking about🤙🏽
That looks like the 2001 Sequoia I use to have. DAN, I miss that truck! Super reliable and four wheel drive for the mud, snow and ice we get around here. Wish I still had it!
Thanks Scottie, you helped up the value of my 2004 Sequoia.
The ONLY vehicle you’ll EVER need is a 1994 Toyota Celica with over 340,000 miles on it.
Celica Break In Period is 500,000 miles.
Hahaha Scotty Toyota Kilmer
It’s the truth of life
Or corolla
Too funny lol
Yes! I have one..2003 150,000. No problems. Best truck ever. I call it the "Beast"
My family has a Sequoia from the 2000s and our mechanic loves it. My sister drives it and beats the crap out of it and the thing runs great. Only downside is the gas but its a massive car so its to be expected.
I got a 2003 with and it's a blessing to me, the best car I ever had. Drives and feels like a dream.
283,000 toyota sequoia on mine. Still running strong just had to fix a timing belt, water pump, tensioners and some suspension yesterday. Running awesome. Will run it until she dies than buy another.
I bought one a few years ago and I absolutely love it! I’ve spent a ton in regular maintenance but I’m not gonna spend $$$$ on a new rig.
I really enjoy all of your videos. Thank you for helping the people!
Hi Scotty, I follow you daily cause you always have good content. I own a 2006 Toyota Tundra 4.7 Limited 4×4 with a 6.5 ft capped bed. It has 90.000 miles and I just did the timing belt. It is exactly as you say, the best vehicle I've owned and i am 65 yo. Thanks, be well and stay healthy.
Cool I feel like I found a all around, all purpose vehicle. Except for parking. Living in NYC has added many scrapes and bruises. But I really plan on never letting my tundra go. Good luck and stay safe.
My friend has one with 285,000 in it and it just now is having a shudder in transmission. But Scotty the excursion is extremely reliable, especially with the 7.3
Jan 2024 and I just bought my first Sequioa. 130K miles for $6500. New tires radiator brakes and rotors. So Have to get the belt done asap. Will do after I sell my Explorer. Thanks for the videos.
First time I saw Scotty with gloves. TN is definitely chillier than Houston.
Plus a cold front now, well below normal temps. He's on a windy plateau too.
@@dsSpitfiremk4 tennessee is tropical compared to canada lol
@@edenhazard4518 yea, my relatives are all across the river from Windsor. Don't want to be there after Thanksgiving, that's for sure.
That may hamper his ability to "speak"🤣🤣😁
My name is Aliballa from Sierra Leone I own a sequoia 2006
I saw your video on sequoias and i decided to buy one and now I feel it quality and strength as it can handle rough roads than a landcruiser can
Just went to SC from massachusetts and back with my 04 sequoia it hit the 250,00 during the trip. Runs smooth, got 18 mpg for the ride. Loaded with the 5 family and luggage. Only problem is on cold starts. It has some clanking rattle but goes away and runs super smooth.
Yet again thanks for the great knowledge and humor
I’ve had both - a 2003 V10 Excursion and a 2005 Sequoia - both 4WD. The Excursion is a MUCH bigger vehicle although the Toyota is clearly superior in everything else. Sure that Scotty can comment on the Ford’s propensity to eject spark plugs - common for that generation of modular engines.
In actuality the Sequoia was made to compete directly with the Expedition and Tahoe not the Excursion.
I picked up one last year (2021), $2,800. its a dream 😍 got the limited trim, it was definitely one of the best purchases of my life, 255k miles.
Ty for that terminator pic @ 4:24 cant hide from the computer. Always gives me a good laugh
Me and my buddy just got out of car payments. Both bough 2006 - 2007 sequoias! They’re awesome.
exactly!!
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe. 4wd. And so far I have 230k runs like a dream
Yes my 2005 GMC sierra 5.3 V8 241,000 miles. Still running good.
I use to have a 04 avalanche with 120k and was running strong till it was sold
@@tougeruzbay love Avalanches! They were built very well.
I’ll never sell it. It’s a great rig. Two owners before me. And I’ve done some simple mods so far. There just reliable as can be
Scotty im glad i bought a toyota truck, i borrowed my moms truck while my toyotas in the shop last night, took it down i70 from ohio to indiana, i was doing 70 down the highway with cruise control and the engine blew while i was going up hill
I just got a 06 Tundra v8 double cab. Love this truck. Better then new tacomas at 1/2 price.
I wish you were around Pennsylvania ur far but really enjoy the mechanic knowledge
my ‘02 has 315k and it’s just now going through it’s midlife crisis
Would love it if you did a video on one of the 2nd gen Sequoia's, Scotty!
Thank you for the video
I love my 07 Sequoia..... 117k miles.... and runs like crazy.....!!!
I own a 2006 with 165K miles runs awesome, doesn't leak oil at all and is great in the snow.
mine is all set for snow.... but we don't get snow here.... LOL
First gen tundra n sequoia r the best just like scotty luv ur ch thank u for all u do
Please review a post 2008 Sequoia. Luv your shows.
listening to Scotty's videos will result in more knowledge!
My favorite SUV is the 2nd generation Lexus RX preferable one with the 268 HP 3.5L V6 since it uses a timing chain instead of a belt. No turbo, smooth running, and a sedan-like driving feel.
GOD bless you Sir you are one off my teacher.I learned alot from you..I love you man
Thank you very much Scotty.
the expedition is the competitor for the sequoia. the excursion is just in a class by itself.
Yep no suv can compare to the excursion especially with the 7.3L power stroke
Hey Scotty 🤣 I just bought an 02 with 193k Runs great!! Love it
Have a 2005, 270k miles, still runs like new, best car ever made.
I have an 05 Tundra with 236k. Engine and tranny are silky smooth and powerful
got my 04 4x4 for 1500 with a crashed front end, fixed it for under 1k. It now has full suspsension and 35's on it. Very capable car for all in less than 5k
My mother owned a 2008 limited sequoia and absolutely had no problems and are made for the apocalypse. Def one of the greatest vehicles Toyota has ever made besides the land cruiser
The Excursion with the diesel engine is the most desirable one to have. They also get 20 mpg or more on the freeway. The 5.4 gas models eat more gas and may only have the issue with spark plugs
Not sure about the Excursion but the Ford Explorer has serious electrical issues. If your Explorer wasn't running & had electrical issues, it would be time to tow a junk yard,
Most diesels are good
Bought one for 13k with 63k original miles 06 limited seqouia. The best suv. Just dont look when fueling up gas
The 1uz v-8 swapped into a corrola or small is a win. The v-8 barely breaks a sweat.
Will keep my old school Explorer SUVs ...pre 2011. V8 power.
Wooohooo, it’s SCOTTY time 😃!
I have 98 4runner with 214000 miles same story thing is awesome starts everytime super reliable everything still works
Good day Scotty, I'm ready for another great video. Lay it on me BROTHER 🙌🙌🙌🧰👍
Wish the Sequoia had a Diesel engine.
Scotty: you wanna be in my video
Sequoia owner: sure scotty
Scotty: come on down
Owner:
i tried putting a Bosch on my Dodge Challenger. It didn't like it at all. Tried also on my Honda Accord, it didn't like it either. This man speaks the truth just get a Denso.
I Own A 2001 Sequoia v8 got it about 145k miles with the timing belt serviced at 109k miles currently at 150k miles runs like a brand new car...
I had 2 Mercury Capri XR2's. Both turbos but my 1.4l engines got great fuel mileage because I drive normal.
I like my 150k miles 2002 Ford Excursion Limited is a great highway traveler...but only issue are seemingly permanent electrical light problems, and rear hatch latch/cable wearing out. Slight rear main seal oil leak, but motor runs great. The 5.4 gas v8....is definitely underpowered if you pull much trailer weight. But tgis vehicle weighs 6200lbs. I have been looking for a used Sequoia...and plan to sell my EX.
I agree they are reliable cars n great video ‼️
Hi scotty, hope your doing well, i love the videos!
hello and yes thank you!
Good stuff 🙂👍💯
Really been wanting one of these
Nothing like a first generation Tundra/Sequoia. 🍻
DAMN got to be QUICK to be first with Scotty.
It would be fun to see how many of both are still on the road for the year as a percentage of the fleet sold.
I believe like the insurance institute publishes those numbers.
I’ve got a 2006 with 70k best SUV ever!
Are you a grandfather? That is about 3,100 miles a year?
That's 4.67k/year
Right! Bought it with 50k.
@@Skyborn- Right.
I am 2 for 2 with Scottys latest car highlights. I have the GMC Canyon diesel and Sequoia (2017 platinum). He won’t get my 3rd car though, Lexus UX 250h f sport.
Love your sequoia videos! Keep them coming. I’m pretty sure it was to compete with the expedition by the way :) love your vids Scotty.
Toyota quality, your almost never wrong. I waiting for you to review the blue car in the background.
Always in the same spot. It's a clunker 😄
After owning an 01 Grand Cherokee and an 01 Dodge Durango, and paying ALOT in various repairs, I am focusing on Asian manufacturers. It seems the heart and sole of making an easy to work on reliable vehicle has left the American makers focus. Why do their systems crap out while Asian competitors still continue? Great coverage of potentially my next vehicle if it has the tow rating I am looking for.
One thing I disagree with you about Scotty. I rock crawl mine! Very easy to upgrade. I have winch bumpers, sliders, detroits in the front and rear diffs. If anything, the nice thing about the early 1st gens are they're one of toyotas only platforms which offer 2wd, awd AND 4x4 all in one vehicle. The 4runners are either 2wd/4wd or awd/4wd. I'd take a 1st gen sequoia over an early 100 series LC
The ONLY vehicle you’ll EVER need is a 1994 Toyota Celica.
Or my 1997 toyota camry
Did you get your attention for the day?😒😒
You beat me to it
@@BookofPeter02 Sweet isn't it!
@@coolex8852 Me too
These cars are awesome!!!
Scotty you’d be proud of me. Got a 2004 from my neighbor for $1000! Slapped a new battery oil change and drive all over the place. Even camp in it.
Scotty In Australia these are Called a Landcruiser and are the most popular vehicle for towing caravans
You can get them repaired anywhere and the diesel version are the most popular for towing
With the cost of petrol in Australia compared to the USA also make the diesel the preferred choice
Landcuisers are a different vehicle with the same engine. Also, Sequoias are bigger.
Had to replace secondary air pump (3000) the back door latch 3 times (1200) and rear window mechanism only after 120000 miles.
2010 matrix only car i need!
I bought my dads off him 3 years ago for 5k only had 130k when i bought it only put 20k on it so far. One of my favorite cars ive ever owned i had hondas chevys and scions but this baby right here is a land yacth
If I’m not wrong I watched a video saying Toyota is planning to revive Celica model from the deads. I could be wrong.
My 2011 4runner has 228k miles on it. Getting quotes to have it painted its hood catches a lot of rocks, now the chips are rusting. I figure better my own instead of buying someone else's problem.
I drive a 2011 Prius. Great mileage. The only thing I did last year was oil changes and I replaced the teeny 12 volt batter - not the big battery- for just under $200. I put 68k miles on it - no new brakes because generating the electric power reduces wear on the brakes, same tires (because it is so Iow that he doesn’t and the vehicle wear on tire is
2010 here. Same thing. Prius is amazing. Compliments my 07 Sequoia.... :) Sometimes I think about selling one or the other, and just can't do it.
Negligible. There’s no started, very fre belts or hoses & everything is Toyota quality - never towed! You don’t need a giant car to have a car that’s gone so far with so little maintenance!!!!
@@jimscheltema670 its nice to have both, though!!! lol
