Smart man! Where common sense prevails!
Great video, do you buy an aftermarket catalyst or a used one? For the sequioa
Wait a minute Scotty you said Toyota’s made in the USA are not as good so why are you bragging about this one made in the USA. Sounds hypocritical to me.😉
I'm amazed how smart you are scotty
I can’t keep up. I keep buying everything you recommend.
Lol I thought I was the only one 🚗 🚘
All you get are Toyota's and Honda's
Haha 16 mpg
Lololololoolololololll
You had 69 Likes before I got ahold of your comment.
I sincerely apologize.
Scotty, I just purchased a 2007 Toyota Sequoia with 107,000 miles, 1 owner. Looks like it just came off the lot. You’d be proud. Thanks for the advice!
Toyota dealer: “waxing the engine bay makes it drive better and increase the price by 15%”
Scotty: “it does nothing dude”
Now now, some of those preservatives help keep the plastic more pliable.
The plastic cover increases low end torque
This is one of the greatest SUVs EVER built! We have one in the family and it's the best vehicle we've ever had. It runs like a brand new clock. We have put 200k+ on the 130+ when we bought it. ZERO issues, just routine maintenance. If you're considering one, you can't go wrong with the 1st gen Sequoias!
What year would that be?
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 first gen is 2001-2007.
Or even 2nd gen for that matter we have a 2014 we got it at 60k and now it’s at 150k miles I have never seen the check engine light even turn on a single time and all we been doing is routine maintenance we bout this one cause we sold our last Sequioa a 2002 with 350k miles to a friend of ours and he’s still driving it with same engine and transmission it’s over 400k now
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 Ours is an 02
how often are you changing the timing belt?
They waxed the engine but left the headlights dull....
cheapskates!
Run low on toothpaste in the wash room?
Lol ,maybe they like seeing with a pair of dim glow sticks at night . You’d think they care about seeing where there going more than the shine on there engine cover....
Headlight covers seem to be one item Toyota could improve upon.
Yet to see any Japanese described vehicle with good headlights.
But upgrades are easily available.
Own a 02' Sequoia with 250k. Still runs strong Scotty!
I've got two of them myself with high mileage after used purchases. Great for saving money for other things.
I can't afford the gas!
I have to change my 2001 sequoia starter( 20 years old) tomorrow 😂
@@gmoneymiti92W ouufff, hope it went well lol, that's a job and a half.
@@jordanmercier3616 you exactly right 😂 a job an a half but it’s done and dusted
Driving a 2002 Sequoia with 404,000 miles and still running strong. All repairs made with the help of CZcams videos.
Still holding up? How many miles now?
PEOPLE ARE LIKE CROWS. They like big shiny bright objects. -Scotty 10/2020. Love you 😍
Blanche was a babe. Even though she talked a big promiscuous game she actually had very few relationships throughout the run of the show.
I love the Golden Girls! Been watching them on and off since the 80s!
In our country we call people who love shiny things magpies 😅
I just Blanched some tomatoes
I love my 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser, 4.7L V8 with 361k on the Odometer and no signs of stopping!
As expected w/ the king SUV..
I picked up a 2000 LC with 180k for short money a few months ago. I’ve had many suvs and pickups. This is probably the best one I’ve ever owned. At 180k and it still works like it drove off the lot.
I just bought a 2002 sequoia with 205k on it for $2700 body is in great shape and the frame was replaced under recall it’s practically a brand new truck underneath
I bought a 2003 Sequoia limited with 190,000 miles on it a few years ago. Best SUV I’ve ever owned!
How much u bought it for
I have a '03 with 204k. Still drives, runs and shifts smooth. Love this old Sequoia

When's the last time you had one, bud?
The man is a legend.
I'd buy that Sequoia, just because of that reliable 4.7L ..
Scotty deserves to be #1 in automobile youtube channel.. one man camera guy! Hard to believe
the only bad part of the 4.7 liter is having to change the timing belts. It can be a very expensive job.
Timing chains and starter are expensive, but its worth the bill its a great power plant
Hey Scotty, I have been watching you since I was 15 and am now 19. I have been waiting for you to do a Sequoia and I'm so glad you finally did. I drive an 05 Sequoia limited 4 wheel drive and it currently has 240000 miles on it. I just wanted to say thank you for making your videos and inspiring me and others.
Ayy I bought my 06 Sequoia when I was 21 a year ago. Thought I was the only young guy owning a big family vehicle with no kids 😂
The exterior/interior styling, recreation use, and reliability make the Sequoia my first car💯

I am 18 and drive a 2004 Sequoia with 224k miles. Good to see you guys in the thread.
Got a buddy with one of these, he absolutely loves it! Despite frame rusting in half! As Toyota took it back and replaced entire frame free! So it’s good as new again and we’re both sure he’s gonna get at least another 100k miles before anything else to worry about!
@@user-ss2ly1ir6j Toyota nut swingers think they are great no matter what happens. The door doesn’t shut right but it’s ok. Just needs a cheap plastic piece. If that were a Tahoe the nut swingers would have said what a pile of crap it was with lame build quality.
@@user-ss2ly1ir6j in West Virginia rusty vehicle’s are a normal occurrence especially if we have had several snowy winters in that vehicles life, for some reason they still dump thousands of tons of salt (I’ve heard other places with strong winters have better solutions for road treatment but I don’t know exactly what). Here in this state packing that salt under your vehicles rapidly accelerates the rust and corrosion so it doesn’t matter what you drive they all have equal opportunity to rust out young. Yes Toyota has a few years of bad frames guess someone cut corners on the steel used. But the company made right on it and what other manufacturers would go as far as totally swapping a frame? If there are others I would love to know just for gaining the knowledge because I honestly have never heard of anyone else offering such.
@@sethlavinder check out Beet Heet. Its made from sugar beet molasses and chlorides, to aid with rock salt and brine
@@user-ss2ly1ir6j the frames in question were in fact manufactured in Ohio by a US steel fabrication company, apparently they did not rust proof them properly. To Toyota's credit they inspected frames and replaced where necessary. Toyota isn't perfect but still makes the most reliable cars and trucks in the world. Period.
@@robbflynn4325 not the trucks, ! May be tacomas, but tundra is pile of garbage next to F150, with v8
You can't beat the Toyota Sequoia for durability. Bulletproof. My 2003 has 171k and is amazing..Your show is great Scotty, always informative and entertaining too.
Keep up the awesome job, you are awesome.
Knew a guy who had a Sequoia just like that one, with 450,000 miles on it. It was his family car, and it was just like new!.
I would love one of these Sequoias. Keeping my eye out. Scotty has Taught me so much, I keep walking away from abused used Toyotas. I TRUST a good one will eventually show up. Thank you, Scotty! You have saved me thousand$ and the heartache of buying a bad one, too.
Make sure to check the frame up by the passenger wheel though. They are super notorious for rusting out there
How is it now??
So refreshing to see a 2005 with no body damage or rust. In Pennsylvania, between the deer hits and all the salt on the roads, there's no such thing as 'new' condition. It's almost the beginning of claims season.
Picked up my 2003 Sequoia for 3k with 240k miles. Still runs like a clock.
You stole that thing, wow✔️
We sold our 2002 Limited to a friend a few years ago for that price with 350k miles he’s still driving it comfortably with over 400k now
Yikes. $3k for a 17 year old car with quarter million miles. I wouldn't pay $1500 for that.
@@2KCamaroZ28SS if it were a Mercedes I wouldn’t either but it’s a Toyota that holds its value for a reason
Yeah, but that was only a week ago.
My kid has a 2014 Sequoia and it is an awesome vehicle! 100+k miles and only regular maintenance. Powerful, smooth ride, plenty of room for large family and a very tight turning radius for parking lots.
I have a Toyota Sequoia
4 wheel drive and it is
a (2006) still running good
Over 2 hundred thousand
miles on it ... Great SUV...
We have a 2001 Sequoia with around 216,000 miles and it's the best vehicle we've ever owned! We actually get 16mpg in town. The thing also tows like a dream. When we go camping and haul our pop-up, most of the time you don't even realize it's back there until you check your mirrors. It's one of the few SUV's on the market that has enough room in the third row for adults to sit comfortably. They're hard to find on the secondary market because folks like me drive them until the wheels fall off. They are SUPURB vehicles!
we had here an Toyota Landcruiser from 2002 with 865943 KM's on the clock. an V8 with an automatic transmission, suspension like those old Citroëns and everything still works. transmission shifted fine even though it got used all its life pulling heavy loads. amazing quality cars from Toyota.
Toyota automatic transmissions:
4 and 5 speed "ultra reliable "
6 speed "bullet proof "
6 speed: _smooth as sandpaper_
So ,which is more reliable? 😂
He legit made a video once about how v8 Toyota’s aren’t good to buy because to get around the hood is super cramped and will cost you a fortune for any labour you need
@@austin.2716 more gears in an automatic = more room for problems.
I have an '01 Sequoia Limited I picked up in April after your other Sequoia Video. I bought it with 181k miles in excellent shape for $4,500. I now have a little under 189k on it. I love it. Thanks for your recommendation! Replaced the timing belt and water pump and all that, almost all the fluids, the YAW Sensor, Radio, Headlights, Rear Bumper. Freshened up the trim with new paint. Ball joints are soon to come. Hoping to have it for a very long time.
I just bought a 06' Sequoia SR5 a few months ago. We love it!
@@jonfenick8281 We are in Hawaii, so it does cost more. It was under mileage, leather seats were and interior was like new, all around excellent condition. Enough room for our 5 kids. Paid $11,000. Could've gotten a cheaper one from someone else, so I went with a dealer instead. Beats paying brand new. I'm never buying brand new. 🙂
@@jonfenick8281 i bought an 06 with 256,xxx last saturday for 6,500. Drove from california to nevada to pick it up. This engine is indestructible my 2003 has 265,xxx and runs like a champ. Both are 4wd i love em
I have a 2005 sequoia 2wd and I love it I have pulled everything with it even a 7k lb rv on a trailer. It is very tough. The only thing I had to replace in 5 years was a door handle and a A/C condenser fan. Not bad for 180k miles.
Scotty! Glad you're closer to the east coast! You'll love the mountains to ride the motorcycle on!
I love how scotty giving advise for us to buy best value used cars instead of having to experience complicated problems that new fancy high tech new cars along with its huge decreasing value overtime
Scotty loved H-town so much that he recorded tons of episodes before the move. Don’t matter where you live Scotty, your presence is felt through your great funny videos. Best wishes and can’t wait to see your new videos from Tennessee.
01 to 07 Toyota Sequoias are built like tanks. Its a reason people still sell them for $4500 - $7000 on fb marketplace and saying still runs perfect
I've got to imagine Scotty's new neighbors are thinking "who in THE HELL is our new neighbor talking to?"
More like yelling at lol
I like when you run your scan and explain parameters that matter
I love this video because it brings bac k great memories of my 2001Sequoia. I loved that truck!
My parents got this car to 330k miles before selling. Only thing other than standard matience was replacing a radiator which definitely ran through it cycles considering we lived in Hot and humid FL. Great car, great resale. No complaints.
I bought a 2002 with 385,000 miles for $850. Runs and drives great no issues now have 390,00 ....and running strong.
I picked up one of these about 2 years ago and I LOVE it! I took out the two back rows of seats and use it for camping. I lay a 3 inch memory foam mattress down and I have plenty of room to sleep in it.
I had to replace one rear air suspension bag and plugged in an air induction bypass harness.
Also, I had to replace the rear hatch latch and cable. (Keep that lubed up).
I stole it from a dealer for $5500. It was a Sunday night, end of the month, and they were desperate for a sale!
I’ve racked up over 70,000 miles on it and changed the oil frequently.
I used the coin holder in my 2002 Tundra this afternoon... 4WD V8 regular cab long bed Toyota truck with 171,000 miles. It's an SR5, but it lacks 4 wheels disc ABS and Daytime running lights.
1st generation Tundra & Sequoia are awesome vehicles, just make sure you check the frame for rust if was a salt / rust belt vehicle.
Have I watched too many Scotty's videos..... this reminds me an older video he did on a Toyota Sequoia. 😂😂😂😂😂 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😉😉😉😉😉!!!! Scotty is the best!!!!
Keep the great information coming! I especially enjoy the historical lectures that I’ve seen. It reminds me of some of my favorite professors I enjoyed in college.
My neighbor had one of those for like 350,000 miles and then sold it. It was a good car
Gotta love those old Land Cruisers/Sequoias. Build like tanks and last just as long.
It was a great find indeed. Even better advice. Thanks for the video.
I was so happy to find a 2011 with approx 100,000 miles and mostly highway miles. Look up how to identify highway miles on a used car. The timing chain is better for the long haul also.
Thought about selling my 2004 Sequoia, just saw 2 videos of you recommending them. Looks like I'm going to hold onto it
If you're good with the gas mileage and it's paid off, there's no reason to sell it.
Got a 2007 4wd with only 60k miles. Knowing these are bulletproof overlanders with that infamous 4.7 engine that'll last past 1 million miles we're never going to sell it.
I'm glad I got my four sequoias for the family before this video was made. It was fun buying them while it lasted. Now the deals are gone.
What a boss. Doesn't care about Speeding in residential area on camera. What a G
We have a '04 that just passed 100k. At this pace my great-grandkids will own it... And drive their kids to school with it. 😉
I agree , this toyota and land cruiser are the best cars from toyota until now
4Runner is
4runner all made in Japan
I would definitely say the Land Cruiser is the best above all...they are literally sold in every single country on Earth.

Awesome truck, great review. You can't go wrong with these Toyotas.
Thanks Scotty for explaining the door latch issue.
My '93 Celica just reached 190,000 miles & suddenly the driver door started closing hard.
No more latch replacement available at the dealership.
Hard to find a good part at a yard.
Any ideas how to fix or at least improve it, let everyone know please! Hate having to slam doors.
I have an 07 168k it's going strong just replaced spark plugs. Gonna drain and fill the transmission soon. Great vehicle.
My cousins has one of these, 2004/5, not sure. It has 340,000 miles and still going strong and the only thing she’s had to do besides the regular maintenance is replace the ball joints
Love the Sequoia, my favorite of all suvs.
I've been looking af sequoias for a while. I need a good fishing and camping car so I'll get the 4x4
