Nice guitar and very clear review! I have a Gibson SG Futura 2014 and they sound similar, the SG has a Burst Bucker 3 humbucker in the bridge and a P90 Sidewinder in the neck, both switchables to single coil, sounds good to me! Marty always the best, cheers!
I have a Danelectro 59 Resonator showing up on my doorstep tomorrow. Should be fun. I know what I'm doing this weekend watching Marty slide lessons.

Nice! I usually don't get to excited when I hear the best thing about the guitar is the fuzz tones. But, I really heard some distinct sounds that gave the guitar character. What ever that was toward the end 9:10 I really liked.

I love Dano. Even the French Toast still kicks ass.
Get a 50s classic vibe tele, replace the bridge pick up with quarter pound tele Seymour Duncan, replace the neck with a P-90 , replace the pots with 500k and an orange drop cap, add a four way switch wired ; bridge , parallel both, neck, both in series. I also recommend replacing the steel bridge barrels with brass. Get some locking tuners and a graphtec nut . You’ll be way under 1k but that tele will give you everything you’ll ever need.
It really shines with the neck pickup.

My friend plays one from the 60s with some changed parrs we call it frank because of all the other used part and that we were changing the strings in it and whilst tuning it the D string broke so we searched through the bin for the old one making it even more of just a freak of nature

Guitar sounds great, especially at that price point. Of course you have the technique and skill set to make any guitar sound good. I have the ability to make a $100K guitar sound like a bad buy. Thanks for the review

I have a chinese-made 59DC which plays really well but have been thinking about selling it & going for one of these.
I would miss the neck position on it though I think it sounds like a plugged in accoustic but crossing the lipstick humbucker with a P90 I like.
Does the 59XT still have the Dano twang but just a bit beefier?

A 59 on steroids! Raunchy can be great when your Strat and LP aren't exactly what you're listening for, cool guitar!

All P90 guitars give you that sort of "raunchy" sound you referenced. I say it's more organic than humbuckers and fuller than single coils. Interesting, this guitar sounds a lot thinner on your video than the other videos I've seen on it - probably due to your amp settings.

Is this guitar good for playing punk rock and alternative rock?
There are no videos on CZcams in which someone plays with a Danelectro 59xt a true punk riff with a true punk sound.
