When I was a kid.. back in the 60's.. I took heat for playing one. I had a hollow Kingston as well. People would make fun of me. I traded up to a Junior. These days.. they're all the rage. Ironic.

Snuffy, you had what? This guitar didn't exist in the 60s as a Danelectro. If you had a Mosrite Ventures which this was based on, your classmates were childish idiots who never looked at pricing. A Mosrite Ventures easily cost more than a Fender at the time.
Austin Lucas - I had a Silvertone. Which is what I thought this was. But it isn't. My bad.
Austin Lucas - Actually, my friend just told me that Danelectro made Silvertone guitars back in the 60's...

The Jeff Beck style at the end was amazing. Id love to be able to play like that. I imagine it took awhile to learn the technique.
As an owner of one of these, I can confirm that these are fantastic guitars. I usually play single coils and this guitar has the perfect humbucker to go with my rig without having fiddle with my amp or pedals.

The Dano is VERY Strat like.. or maybe Tele like in ways, but its not those guitars.
It seems rounder but just as bright.. Very cool guitar.
I am getting to the end of my guitar list. I'm building a new strat (P90 bridge, Gold Foil middle, Single in neck). I got the gold foil idea from Ry Cooder.
I just bought a Les Paul gold top (I got a stupid good deal).
I have all the parts (pickups- trons- tuners- wiring harness) for the Tele my Dad gave me. I just need a good bridge (prob a Gotoh) and to assemble it.
Then I need something with P90s. A 335 type copy, and an acoustic (cuz the one I have is crap).
....and now I need a Dano too. I had forgot all about them.

That bridge is amazing. I really like (not quite love though) the shape of this guitar, but I wonder if there are other danelectros that have a similar bridge
I could be wrong but I think the 59xt has the same bridge, same pickups. As far as I can tell the only difference between the two is the shape and color options.

Right now I have a Fender Mustang with neck and bridge P90s, it has no vibrato arm but it is a pretty decent guitar. I’m thinking of picking one of these up but chances are I’d have to pick between the two. Should I stick with what I have or would this be an improvement?
I haven’t been able to find one of these without a bigsby or a classic headstock like that. Where’d you find this one?

Hey RJ are you using the Revv D20 Amp? It sound amazing I don’t understand why many great musicians have own a Danelectro but it receives a lot of some what negativity feed back for other CZcamsr who reviews guitars.

Looks like Johnny Ramone's guitar! (Mosrite)
Johnny's was a Mosrite Ventures II "Slab Body" (so dubbed by fans) model. (More than one body shape went by the Ventures II name, it's complicated. In short, the head of Mosrite didn't like the "Slab Body" design so it was quickly discontinued and replaced.)

How much of your demos like this are rehearsed? Your phrasing is always excellent with some great melodic licks so I was wondering if you are just making it up as you go.
Great question Eric! I would say 99% of my solos in the demo videos are improvised, and this one in particular was the first take (I got lucky!)
RJ, it’s pretty obvious that while you are an extremely serious and gifted musician, it always appears to me your really having fun...from Minadanao, with great appreciation...if your touring gets you to Davao...you must stop by.

Seems like it would work.
Take a rotten piece of wood, put on the cheapest hardware you could find, restring it with rusty strings - hand it to RJ and it will sound great... great as always.

Has Danelectro mentioned how much these are going to be going for? I can't seem to find much info online as far as pricing goes.

@@RJRonquillo I noticed the 64xt and the 59xt have the same double lipstick humbucker and P90 pickups. Is there a big difference in tone between the two? Is one more hollow than the other? Or is it the same tone just different body shapes? - I know you have demos of both where they clearly sound different, but I wasn't sure if that was an amp/pedal difference or the guitar itself. Sorry for the longwinded question. I'm aiming to get a Dano and trying my best to limit it down to the one I want to get.

I prefer the descriptive words: bright, crisp, chimey etc... for the sounds.
