Wow the P90 in the Neck is SWWEEEETTT

i've been dreaming about getting one of these since I saw it, it's like the one for me, but none of the music stores carry danelectro products outside of pedals so it's been tough for me to find and actually try out, but I know when I finally get my hands on one I'll be in heaven. GREAT video thanks for going through everything so well, so excited to get this some day
You know the playing is good when you get startled by Ryan's intro haha.
Your playing has really improved the last few months, keep it up, at this rate we might just get that Surf Jam track!
Ive been using lessons from guitar tricks to brush up on some things and i've been playing with click/rhythm tracks more from the beat buddy and trio. Its been a long time since i was so active in improving my playing, it feels good.
It sounds good.
every day should be a "danelectro" day !!!
Love the "Tainted Love" jam at the end. Nice review, simple clear
Great demo! I love Danelectro! I have older models, though, but I'm inspired to get a new one.
THE best combo of pickups, great for standard and slide.Dosen't look like much, but plays and sounds amazing.
I really like that Danelectro. It seems to perform really nice. Got 2 try one out, soon. Nice demo!
Just got the XT. Love it. Never knew I was Danelectro-Curious. The P90 neck pick up is awesome.
The neck pickup is actually just a regular single coil.
i realize I am kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Watson Valentin flixportal :D
@Santiago Ezekiel Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) Appreciate it !
@Watson Valentin Glad I could help :D
Very pronounced tones! I want one! I may get myself a Christmas gift 🎸
2:00. Yep. They're not wonky at all.
Love it! Thanks!
Some tasty playing on the outro!
Love this review
Groovidelic! I really like your style of playing. I really think it brings out the best in that Danelectro you're playing! Question...what gear are you using with it in this video? Thanks!
enjoying the danelectro love in recent years. super interesting guitars for not a lot of money.
That does look like a lovely bit of kit.
what model is the golden one behind you? cheers!
Do you think you could get a review guitar of the danelectro 59 spruce top with the sound hole
Does the Wilkinson tremolo bridge on the XT sit higher than the one used on the X? Which model would you personally choose??
What a fantastic guitar! I may just have to pick myself up one. I had an original 1448 once upon a time ago, and I've really been missing the Danelectro vibe.
That is one ridiculously cool guitar!
I had a burgundy MIK DC59 when I was a teenager in the late 90s. I miss that thing.
The tremolo pick master, this guitar looks sick.
Hey 60 cycle hum, what is theb amp you use for this demo? Also can you post what amp you're using for us?
That outo tune is smoking hot. What is it? My blue 59x will be here tomorrow btw, great review man!
Exactly my guitar style. Fantastic!
I had one in the 60s that was a nightmare
Then a DanElectro Baritone in the late 90s i LOVED but had to sell (it was $275 NEW with soft case!!)
NOT the strat styled one with on board EFX but the simpler version...
Have you ever thought of getting a baritone? Might be a perfect addition to your arsenal.
I miss mine...a friend I sold it too still has it and will resell it to me for tge $300 i sold it to him for back in 2000.
Earl "Slick" brand guitars have used the recessed bridge design since they were introduced several years ago. Don't know if they were the first, but it seems a good idea!
Love my Slicks!
I wonder why the dual lipstick Humbucker is diagonally offset on the XT but not on the X? Also, the X has an aluminium nut but the XT does not. Does anyone know what the XT nut is made from?
I love danelectro so goshdarn much
Sweet guitar ^^
I played danelectro in early eighties my uncle had one with the amp built in the carry case ....sounded good the nut is aluminum to take place for the zero fret that has been taken out of desighn , huge brass bass fret for zero fret if its vintage danelectro sound an thats MOP i played the reissue a couple years back an they to my ears are diffrent animals ,zero fret vintage vs bone nut standard...chimey tinny fizzally. Punch was missing in 90's reissue ... I traded my Dano..back in the day for a Conrad Bison ...similar to hound dog taylors....had Zero fret also an that Dano jangle in it to...nice guitar ...sweet tones👍👍👍
Ryan,
Haven't seen the Danelectro 59X on your channel for some time now, and I don't see it in the background. Do you still have it? If not was there any specific reason that you sold it? Something I might need to be aware of??
Thx for doing this video. My waiting is over! Question - how does the weight of this guitar compare to a Tele or Strat? I’m looking for a lightweight guitar.
David Walter it’s slightly lighter than my squier tele, which I consider a fairly light guitar. Tiles can vary from guitar to guitar due to the density of the wood though.
i dont know why siri changed 'weight' to 'tiles'.
I found this video right after posting a comment about wanting to hear this guitar haha I had to do a little digging
Great review as always and I really like the tremolo version of this model so I'm leaning in that direction. But it was good to hear the sounds of the different pickup configurations and your thoughts on the overall design and materials. Curious how high-quality would you say the tone control is and is it usable or more of like an on-off switch? Also, I have heard these guitars are semi hollow and I'm wondering the weight of this guitar compared to typical solid bodies?
its not heavy and its not light, its a pretty normal weight for a guitar.
and theres a nice smooth range on the tone.
Great - thanks!
There are Korean reissues (maybe just U1 and U2) from the mid 90s with rosewood bridge. I've watched vids for a U1 and it has an awesome clean jazzy tone. Frankie Cosmos (Greta Kline) gets some of my favorite guitar tones ever with her vintage(?) U1
Can someone help, cant choose between this or jaguar player series, both have great tones and look sick with different pickup variations, I play grunge/punk/psych/ jazz stuff. Anyone have advice?? X
Which one has a better "jazzy" tone when you roll of the tone, the 59nos+ or the 59xt?
I would say a p90 is better, its fatter than a regular single coil. I would go for this one.
That is my next very near future guitar purchase . The color is subject to change though LOL !
What model did george harrison play with the travelling wiberrys
Which one is better? X or XT?
so... you're a fanelectro of the danelectro?
JUST BOUGHT THIS!!!!!!
Yeah but are you at Dano Day yet?
Capolavoro !!!! Very the best Guitar in the word
Danelectro
good outro
What is the mint green guitar behind your left hand? Is there a video on it?
Airline Map guitar. Unusual resin construction.
What is the song at the end 13:34 ?
Great review of a nice guitar!
Tainted Love
@@thhunter Ah, of course. Brain freeze - it must've been toooooo late for me.
Watched you video on the duo sonic earlier I’m between this the duo sonic and the p90 mustang. Any advice?
they are essentially the same guitar as far as they play, you just need to figure out what pickups you want. the p-90s are going to be higher output.
What about this danelectro compare to the offset series
i missed that the danelectro was part of this conversation, lol. The dano is a different beast all together, It feels funky (in a fun way) where the fenders are going to be a more normal guitar experience. I would try one before you buy, or buy from somewhere that accepts returns incase its not your style. If you like the way it feels though, the dano is more versatile tonally.
this is the sexiest guitar I've ever seen
Did you make those pedal shelves yourself? Or are they something you can buy?
i made them
@@60CycleHumcast I was hoping you'd say "oh, IKEA now do guitar storage solutions"... I'll get my saw.
Seems like it might be difficult to change strings.....looks like you might need to remove the bridge to do it ??
Nope. The strings just slide in under the bridge.
What is the guitar on the left hanging on the wall?
It's a Hallmark Swept-Wing: www.hallmarkguitars.com/guitars/swept-vintage.htm
That was a really cool guitar, u did a nice job.
A zero fret eliminates the need for a metal nut, in fact the open strings are even more like fretted because they are fretted.
That's such a Beck guitar...or Jack White, I can totally see them playing this.
This guitar plays tricks on my mind, between the cutaways and the angled neck pick up I always think the neck has been installed crooked.
Where It's At....
A little down the road, in the habitation of the towns you know.
Bottles and cans and just clap your hands just clap your hands.
I’ve got two turn tables, and a microphone
Really surprised to see you going with the X vs the XT model with the tremolo - you being the surf guy and all! Otherwise, I believe they're the exact same guitar. Any reason using the X vs the XT? By the way, as I understand it these guitars are hollow with a center block down the middle which is interesting. Also the 25 inch (PRS length) scale is unique and likely contributes to its sound.
The X was the model we were able to get from Danelectro. At the time I think the XT was announced, but not in production. - steve
@@60CycleHumcast Ok that makes sense and I wondered if maybe that was the case. I could see Ryan preferring the XT with the Wilkinson tremolo. I'm thinking about getting one for sure.
Have a green 59xt
Creeper weed kicks in at 00:44
the D on the scratchplate doesnt come off? :(
Patrick steel wool
that's why I bought a 90s intonated one. I don't really like the subtle differences of the new ones, and I know how stupid that all sounds.
Nice review and playing, but you always say that we can leave nasty comments, so here it is... (NASTY COMMENT).
That headstock looks weird to me
mosrite styled
Give me a neck P90 and I'm happy. Sexy ass guitar!
Was this a paid review?
Rowland Buckland nope
full disclosure: This was a situation where i was impressed with the guitar at NAMM and i wrote the manufacturer about getting my hands on a demo unit for a more detailed review. Dano sent me the guitar without any additional communication or information. I did the review and then wrote Dano to let them know and requested return shipping and they told me to keep it. So technically this was a situation where i was given the product but i didn't know that until the work was done, lol. I do love this guitar though and im excited to do additional coverage of it.
Oh my. That neck pup is creamy.
I’ve been wanting a guitar that’s just different in the world of country music besides a strat or a tele. I mean they’re great for country, but just not my particular cup of tea. This on the other hand……………..hmmmmmmm……..I like a lot.
noice
Sounds kinda thin, like all Dano's.
Thin is in
Fat is in - Terry Forster and the Lovehandles 1985
The high fret access is so fricking bad
I recently got the XT from Sweetwater... I really like this guitar, play it every day and find myself saying that every time I wipe it down after playing. The one thing I hated (actually two as they're connected) from the moment I picked it up was the boxy joint where the neck meets the body and the placement of the strap button right there as well just above the 12th fret. Within just a few minutes of playing it I knew it was a keeper and briefly contemplated possible solutions... within the hour I drilled a small pilot hole in the top horn where you see most strap buttons placed. With the short horns and the button there now it is slightly less balanced but I quickly got accustomed to that balance and not having both the strap and button hitting my hand any time playing the higher frets has eliminated most of what I hated about the guitar. I have a modification planned for the box where neck meets body... I am going to reset just the one low neck bolt/screw after I modify just the one lower boxy corner with a slight contour somewhat rounding off that point. I'll either have to shorten the screw or maybe just a slight angle will work. I'll find out later this week as that project is on the list.
Someting out of phase here only gtr part

Is everybody making BETTER gritars than Gibson? 40 years of crap has it's downside.
You don't sound to good.
Joe G I sound around 1.4 good, working on getting to be 2 good but that’s a ways off.
I love danelectro so goshdarn much
So much it had to be said twice!!
