I neglected to put the bar exactly as I held it while putting the pads in place (must have turned the bar around). Now, all the screws fit the top shield, but 2 won't screw into the bottom. I have to remove the pads now? Will try reversing the bar first & then call a strong relative bc you say I must use Channel locks to remove the pads. Yes, you sent a new set of pads and glue.

The adapter appears to be MDF ( medium density fibreboard).
Would this not decay and fall apart in a shower environment?
Michael - The adapters are actually made of solid brass material which is specially prepared to provide strength and ability to cure the special adhesive we use.

How can it support weight but be easily removed?
The adhesive used is a German silicone based adhesive used in auto and airline assembly. It is unique as it maintains the original properties and nevers hardens or cracks for a lifetime. It is designeed to fracture under torsion which is how you are able to remove this without damage.

Will it work on wood surfaces like doorway frames?
You can mount on wood but it must be unpainted as otherwise the bond is only made to the paint and not the wood.
The system does work on wood provided it is unpainted/stained.
Our shower has a hard plastic like wall and was wondering if this would work? It's an old mobile home and the shower wall kit sounds hollow in the back. Don't know if it has wood beams or dry wall to support a grab bar. I need a grab bar to pull myself up from a shower seat to get out of the shower. I need strong support. Pls. advise. Also, where can I buy this product?
The nie wieder bohren adhesive does work on most plastics, fiberglass and acrylic surfaces. For use with Grab Bars however we do not recommend or warranty due to ADA requirements. These surfaces are varied in thickness, construction and condition and ADA requires that the surface be able to hold a minimum of 250lbs. Fiberglass surfaces are often molded with a slow radius for strength and our system must have a flat surface to ensure there is no long term surface tension on the adhesive. Does it work on fiberglass showers?
The nie wieder bohren adhesive does work on most plastics, fiberglass and acrylic surfaces but is not recommended or warrantied for use with grab bars on these surfaces. We have not tested all materials and they also vary in installation type (wall sheets, surrounds), flatness of material, rigidity and condition. These surfaces are also difficult to properly clean well enough to get a proper bond need for ADA requirements.
